Farmer's Table - La Mesa
The pork chop was good but the sauce was very over powering for me. My husband got the bison ribeye & loved it. The calamari appetizer was also very tasty.
This is the 2nd year we chose Farmer's Table for my birthday. The cioppino was delicious and I ate every drop with hunks of crusty bread. We could see tomatoes being roasted in the pizza oven and it gave the sauce a real depth of flavor. The "burnt" carrots were not really burnt but nicely roasted and still tender crisp, a lovely side dish. At 5:30 they were out of 3 of 4 selections of Chardonnay on the "Wine Wednesday" list and my only critique would be stock up more if you have it on your specials list. Lots of families, large parties, a popular place.
Second time at this restaurant since it’s a bit far from my home. The first time was a great experience. The second time, the food was good; however we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We also felt as if the server wanted to be anywhere but where she was. She did not make us feel comfortable or appreciated. Undecided if I will go again.
Great food, enthusiastic service! Our waitress was bubbly and efficient, and our food was awesome: risotto! yum!
Too noisy to have nice dinner conversation. Better for lunch than for dinner
Delicious! Love their pizza margherita! Good food, friendly, helpful staff!
The food was horrible. And $29 for half a dried out half chicken is outrageous. I will never eat at this restaurant again.
My first visit was an awesome/excellent experience. Staff was so warm, friendly & professional. Food was delicious! I had the eggplant sandwich. 😋
We have been to Farmer’s Table a few times for dinner. The food is consistently good. The staff is friendly. The evening has always been “good times”
The food was just ok and the noise level was too much. We had two servers, both of which we do not care for. The food was over priced. We will not be coming here again.
Always love this place!
First time here and everything was great! Our server was so polite and checking in on us frequently! The food was amazing and my drink was even better!!!! Will definitely be coming back here again!!!!
Great food!! Got the gnocchi—excellent!! Made in house. Bread was yummy—made in house.
The service was absolutely terrible. It felt as if the server was trying to avoid us completely and only came to check on us once throughout our whole meal (well twice if you include him handing us the check). We would have gone for a second drink, but he never came to ask!! Additionally, the runner spilled an entire glass of water on my friend. That was an accident and we were able to look past that, but the overall service was sub-par. Food was good but apps came out at the same time as entrees. Seemed like it was amature hour on Monday night. Maybe I'll come back on a weekend night to see if we get the A-team and a better service experience.
Our waiter, Brad, was excellent. How he was handling a table of 12 and still giving us perfect service is beyond me. The food, as always, was delicious and he checked on us the perfect amount of times. Unfortunately, when we made our reservation we had forgotten that it was Oktoberfest. That surely added to the noise. Overall it was a nice night getting reacquainted with an old friend.
Overrated. Service is o.k. Food is mediocre & I've given it a shot for the 3rd (and last) time. Way too pricey for quality. Potatoes (home fries) are consistently oversalted. Tables are awkwardly situated and too close to one another. Neither server knew answers to my questions (soup of the day, Kombucha of the day, etc). Server told me one flavor of Kombucha, came back & told me it was going to be mango, then brought back a blueberry one. *sigh* Table water that was served had no ice and was literally room temp. Disenchanted. I miss Sanfilippo's!!
Great food and service. The waiters and the chef will work with you to make your dining experience wonderful.
Very helpful for special dietary needs.
Make a reservation and enjoy.
It’s a great place for a friends get together. They had a shift change during our dinner and the appetizer was lost in the mix. But other than that it was good.
For what it was, it was way too pricey, and the restaurant way so noisy we couldn't hear the guest at our table. We had three different servers introduce themselves as our server, which was confusing. The seafood in the seafood risotto was half cooked okay and half under cooked; and trying to get the attention of the server to resolve the under cook wasn't worth the wait. The veggie risotto was cooked okay, but very bland. Not what we expected from a prior visit. Doubtful we'll return anytime soon.
The service was great and i loved meals . All of them delicious
White Sea Bass was over cooked. Restaurant is always too noisy. Service was good but not perfect.
This restaurant is way too loud. It made for an uncomfortable dining experience. The server was not friendly or professional. This is too bad because the food was great.
Our first experience at this restaurant. Our reservations were for Restaurant Week. Hostess forgot to give us Restaurant Week menus, we had to ask and at the time didn't know they had a separate wine list as well. We found that out when we got the check. The manager did give us half off because of the oversight.
First course was a pork belly with mushroom risotto, tasty and mostly fat. Risotto was nice,on the bland side. Next was French Onion soup...could have fooled me. Hardly any onion or onion flavor and what little cheese was on the baguette slice was hard to find, let alone taste. Pretty pathetic at best. Main course was 16oz Bison New York. It was covered in a mushroom balsamic reduction. Tasty, but mostly gristle and fat. I gave up trying to find a good piece to eat. It was accompanied by and organic romanesco puree. It thought it was cauliflower. Had a few sliced in forths carrots for garnish.
Last but not least, I had the Lemoncello Lemon Cream Cake. This was good, very good indeed. My dining partner had the creme brulee'. It had mixed fruit on top and happy it did as the fruit had the flavor the brulee had zero taste.
The first two courses came right out, the main took another half hour, the ending 20 minutes. Waitress was very knowledgeable but I think had too many tables. Had to ask for knives.
They have bread before your meal, ours came out after we had finished the first 2 courses. Maybe you have to ask.
Disappointed in the restaurant. Server was not that good. Asked us how the food was when it was being set in front of us, so we hadn’t even tasted it. Told us the steak was buffalo meat when it was beef. Ginger beer was $6.00...it,s a soda, not real beer. Short rib was $33.00 with small servings and side dishes were barely enough to finish the dish. Gluten free pizza was excellent and pork chop was huge and cooked medium as I asked which raised my rating of the restaurant.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with appetizers - stuffed squase blossoms, dinner - steak and lobster, wine and dessert - Lemoncello cake and it was all delicious.
Could not have taken my wife to a better place for our 44th anniversary.
Our server was great and so was the food. We happened to be there on a hot and humid night and even though the roll doors were up, it was really warm and stuffy in the dining room.
I have been there 3 times now, and absolutely love Farmers Table, however the noise level is very bad. during the height of the meal, about12:45 PM, there was such a hum of conversation that we had to lean into each other, extremely close to converse. I think next time we will probably sit outside. It is a bit pricey, but my daughters and I love the ambience, the food, location, and your employee Sherry. I have known her for several years, and it was a wonderful surprise to find her working there. She is a treasure, and even when she is not our waitress, she goes out of her way to make us welcome
With a focus on buying and supporting local farmers and fisheries, this restaurant has something for everyone. This was our 2nd time going with another couple. Our group of 4 was in and out in 1.5 hours on a Saturday evening (but we did go early; we were seated by 6pm). We didn't feel rushed either.
We ended up getting 1 appie each and 1 adult bevvie each. Total bill was $222 and change. The mains are large though and to be honest, I didn't need an appie as I ended up taking half of my shrimp pasta home. Highly recommend.
Excellent food! Caesar salad and boneless short rib were outstanding! My son had the Salmon and he also said it was very good! Service was a little lax and the noise level a little to high. Will definitely be going back!
We absolutely loved this cute little restaurant!
I forgot our waitress's name but she was wonderful. We could tell she as all waitresses were busy but you would have not known with all the attention she gave us.
The food was very good! Compliments to the chef(s).
Will go again and mybe try an evening as well.
I do recommend making a reservation. Although the tables seem ti turn over fast, it is a very busy restaurant and appears to be a local's favorite.
We always enjoy the food and the wait staff is attentive however we seem to have to wait way to long to receive drinks from the bar. This time they were held up because they were cleaning the coffee maker! It seems to take 20-30 minutes to receive martinis from past experience and this last time waited more than 20 minutes for 2 Irish Coffees, Mexican Coffee, and a Latte.
The pizza at farmers table is really close to the pizza in Italy. Not American pizza but good Italian style. I come here frequently for a pasta dish, and good salads.
Our server was superb!!! He arranged for a birthday cake without us asking, was really knowledgeable with the menu and super super nice!!! Thank you for great time!!!
Food was good, waiters attentive! I want to go back! :)
Dinner and drinks on a Thursday night. The place was busy but not uncomfortably so...nice buzz. I tried the Blue Blazes cocktail...OY!, but not in a good way.
Our waiter Ivan did an amazing job and was very attentive.
What a disappointment. I went to Farmer's Table as part of a party of 7. The menu looked outstanding and the waitress was great, and then we ordered...and just about every single thing we ordered fell short. From the white sangria that wasn't very good to the duck pate with the terrible, goopy texture and "off" taste (that we sent back). From the cream of cauliflower soup that lacked salt and seasoning to the brussels sprouts with bacon that still were just okay. My friend ordered a bacon mac and cheese, but was served a plain mac and cheese (that we sent back). Another friend with tree nut allergies was served the roasted carrot salad after being assured it was free of tree nuts--only to suffer an allergic reaction (we sent that dish back too). I was so disappointed. We spent over well over two hundred dollars, and I don't think any of us raved about a single thing except the beet salad, which was very good. I won't be back. Life's too short for bad (and expensive) food.
Always yummy, and great servers, great lunch spot !
Very slow service again. The dish I ordered stated the protein was lamb, they switched to beef and did not inform me. Not going back.
Unexpected surprise in La Mesa. Will definitely go back to try other delicious items on the menu.
