Five & Dime Ale House
Arrived 5 minutes before our reservation which included a request for a table showing two different football games. Hostess showed us to a table with a view of only one game. As we were discussing options with the hostess for other tables we saw people leaving a table where we could see both games. Hostess said we would need to wait until the table was cleared. This was at 1:15. The table wasn't cleared and we weren't seated until 1:40 even though one of our party was noticeably pregnant. Our server, Caleb, was nice, but very slow and inattentive. He forgot multiple things we requested and would disappeared for 20 minutes at a time in between getting our drinks or other things we requested. Would bring something and forget to ask if anyone needed anything. We were told after long delays that three things we had ordered were not available. Some things we ordered never showed up. The food isn't bad and the atmosphere is good for game days, but these place seems chronically understaffed and unprepared for any size crowd.
We had fried pickles which were delicious, and I had a burger that was one of the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot of burgers in my life!). Very nice service and comfortable ambience. Very good experience! Thank you.
This is a great space to enjoy a meal with family and friends.
Lunch with friend. Friendly greeting and seating. Monday was Burger Day and we both had tasty burgers. Good service.
Service was the main challenge for the evening. Waitress appeared more interested in conversing with her peers rather than the customers. Food was good and overall ambiance was great.
Came here to celebrate my brother’s 30th birthday. Food was good but it took an hour to receive our entrees. Our server never gave us an update about our order. I had to finally come up to him at the counter to see what was going on. The manager came to our table and acknowledged the service being unacceptable and took care of our bill. I’m usually not the type to write negative reviews but I believe issues need to be addressed so they can get fixed. Hopefully the staff will do better.
Quick mid-week lunch. Promptly seated and then greeted by server. Ordered salad as starter—arrived with my entree. After main course delivered had to track down server for check. Food was tasty. Friendly server.
This was the first time I was at this restaurant and really enjoyed it. I took a friend for her birthday and we split two entrees. The first was Korean tacos which were very good but a bit spicy. The other was an eggs Benedict over fried green tomatoes with crab meat. We both really loved this dish. With our food, we each had a pint of Oliver's beer which we also liked. I did tell them that it was my friend's birthday and I assumed they would do something for it but they did not. Still, we would return.
Really bad inattentive service
I have been to this restaurant multiple times in the past few years. I have enjoyed the food per usual and I enjoyed the environment and music. But our waiter you could see how he treated us so different just because we didn’t order bottomless mimosas. The table next to ours he came by multiple times and was very attentive but he was so forgetful at our table. But besides this one experience I have enjoyed my time at this restaurant
I've visited Five & Dime on many occasions as I live in Roland Park. But this reservation was one of my very best. I suggested this location as ten friends and I met to break bread, drink and have a sort of reunion. These friends haven't seen each other in over 10 years. We ate, drank and had a blast reminiscing about our years of friendship. I asked for the service of Lindsey, and as usual, she was wonderful and accommodated us greatly. The night was such a great time. Thank You !!!
It has a great bloody Mary bar on Sundays
Food and drinks were good as always.
Our server disappeared for long stretches, and had to be waved down for more drinks and the check.
She also didn't bring back the change from the cash payment of the bill--she just assumed that an over 20% tip was in line for her marginal service.
Service was really spotty. It wasn’t packed even for a Friday night so no clue why service was weak
While at dinnertime Five & Dime is buzzing, lunch is quiet. My colleague and I had a lovely lunch in one of their comfy booths. The service was friendly and humorous (always a good thing), and our lunches were delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp tacos - the shrimp were coated and fried to perfection, and the sauces couldn't have been better. My friend enjoyed the Cobb Salad and remarked that it was tasty and filling.
Will definitely be back!
Best burger joint in northern Baltimore. The premises are spectacular. Service a bit rookie but friendly.
One of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore! The food is great, and the service attentive and friendly.
Food was nothing special. Onion Soup was pathetic portion.
First time here. Ordered a salad to split with my wife, and a BOWL of chili. CUP of chili arrived - sent it back. Bowl came out a few minutes later, and temperature was true to name - cold. Got up, found the waitress, asked her to heat it up. Entrees arrived, including salad. On second bite, wife retrieved a 5-inch long piece of green plastic from the top of a chopped greens bag. Once waitress reappeared we pointed this out and asked to see the manager. Manager was very apologetic. Food in general for all 4 of us was not remarkable. They comped our salad and chili - but that isn't the point. Restaurant was not busy and they couldn't get it right. What happens when they're busy? Won't be going back.
Our first visit.. we enjoyed ourselves and our burgers. Will be back.
No hostess and the main restaurant seemed light on staff but we were told to grab a table. It took a while before we were noticed but once our waiter came to our table he was attentive and took care of us, including the details of one party’s meat, cheese and bun only 901 burger order which was delicious. My pasta primavera was also very good as was the second “regular” 901 burger. No appetizers this time but they’ve been good in the past. They were out of a few of our beer picks but it was Sunday evening. All in all another good meal there.
Service was horrible. We never saw the waitress or could find her. We asked for a box and it took 20 minutes to bring it to us. Not coming back for a long time
Service was horrible. We sent back burned, yes, BURNED pasta which should have never been served and then waited 1/2 for new order
The server was over attentive then non-existent. Food meh. I was sad because I was looking forward to a good burger with fried egg in it. Egg came broken and when I got a new one it was brown. Half the joy is breaking open your own yolk. Probably won’t come again. We were there with someone in a walker - shown a ramp then escorted to a booth with steps up. SMH
My third time for brunch! Brunch and bottomless mimosas are wonderful! On a Saturday or Sunday be prepared to wait for refills on your champagne, but the delicious food and “make your own” bar made up for that slight inconvenience. We ate every last bit of our crab benedict and banana pecan French toast. Love this place and will continue to come back!
Good food and service, but the music is way too loud (at least for brunch) and the lack of shades on the windows means you might be blinded/roasted by the sun depending on where you are seated, especially on a day where temps are in the 90s.
Our boys’ lacrosse team was in town for a tournament and we found Five & Dime online. Corey was very helpful in setting us up with a reservation, especially since we had a party of 50 on just two days’ notice! When we arrived, they had a very large upstairs area ready for us, including a full bar and flat-screens to keep the boys occupied. The food was all very good, the service was spot-on and quick, we were in and out in less than 90 minutes, giving us plenty of time to get to the professional lax game that night. Corey was very friendly and really great supervising the team, who took great care of us. Highly recommend this place!
Our waitress was not attentive nor did she write down our order and we didn’t get half of our order until we mentioned something.
Our visit was only "good" this time as opposed to at least" very good" in the past. The restaurant was out of a few food items and out of at least one beer I was interested in purchasing. Our server was just average and was not a good ambassador for the restaurant. I will likely come again but will not make many more trips if the experience isn't better the next time around.
I have been coming to five and dime since it opened! However the waiter ive had two weeks in a row (this time on the thursday discount night has seemed quite agitated off the bat. The first time I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was having a bad day but its clear that he is just not friendly unfortunately.
The night we ate here it was extremely noisy, enough that I had trouble hearing my dinner companion. And the restaurant temperature was so cold that it was difficult to enjoy my dinner. The wait staff was very good and I'm sure the food would have tasted better had it not been so cold.
Impressive inventory of Brews, Outstanding service and host staff. Lental soup was very (too) spicy. Cuban sandwich was very good.
Nice and comfortable
Celebrating Mothers Day. We were pleased to be able to make a reservation, though I think we went late enough that it wasn’t so busy anyway. The crab pretzel was just ok; a whole lot of cheese but not so much (crab!) dip. The chili, burgers and fries were good. My fish tacos were seasoned a bit too hot even for me and I like spicy hot. Not sure if it was the seasoning on the fish or its accompanying sauce but it needs a little toning down. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We’ve been at least 3 times before and will certainly go again, but will skip the pretzel, probably for the brussel sprouts.
Keep on, keepin' on.................................
I would still recommend this place - but the food and service was a little disappointing this time. I've been during dinner hours and had a more positive experience - tried it for brunch and the host gave us the wrong menu's and then once we received brunch menu's they were different. 2 of us got the huevos rancheros and my eggs were raw - clearly raw where the whites were still clear. I do not like to send food back so I ate the tortillas and called it a day. The service was great until the end when they were no where to be found when we were ready for the check. I would still recommend this place but might not go back for brunch.
Our waiter was excellent.. the kitchen was backed up
Grilled Caesar salmon salad was HUGE, enough for 2 meals. Very fresh and seasoned well.
Good food, drinks and service. Especially the service. Teddy is the best. You can tell he enjoys his job and will go out of his way to make sure his customers have a pleasant experience. I was looking for a specialty cocktail that had previously been on the menu, but the menu had changed. I told Teddy some of the ingredients in the cocktail. He talked to the bartender and asked if he'd remembered making a drink like that. Sure enough, he remembered and Teddy got my drink for me.
Food is good and so is atmosphere. I have dined at Five and Dime several times and plan to go back in the near future.
The food was really good. Nice ambience. My 901 burger tastes amazing!
