Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - San Diego
Great service, as usual. The place was extremely packed but the staff was on top of it and service was great. We were celebrating our anniversary, so they gave us a free dessert.
Excellent food, little bit on the pricey side for what we got
Food was pretty good; service not so much. Drinks were slow, side dishes (potatoes, polenta, plantains) were not portioned to the number of people at the table.
Celebrating a veteran
Love this place . Meat selections are amazing. Server was great!
We have visited this Fogo de Chao numerous times , we visited for my Fiancé’s Birthday. The service was poor , for the amount of money spent I will not visit again . I requested for mashed potatoes 3 times , where not asked if we wanted anything else during the time we where eating. I had to waive down the server and ask if anything is done for special occasions and birthdays . Truly disappointed with the service .
The family gathered for our fathers birthday, and we got meat wasted! The service was excellent as well as the array of meats that were presented! We were a large group and initially seated in a tight corner, we requested to move and the team acted quickly! Great service overall!
We had dinner here with entire family but we weren’t impressed. For the price each head we’ve paid, we expected great service and food. We waited so long before the meats were served. We had no choice but to eat what’s on the buffet table and by the time the servers started giving out meat, we were already almost full. It could have been nice if they brought those out right away. For the experience sure try this style of dining for once but I’d rather give my $65 per head next time to another steakhouse that would really give my money’s worth. Service was ok they were attentive but what would that serve if we are hungry and the meat came out late and all they can offer is water.
The service was pretty slow. We had to ask multiple times for sides to be brought to the table. It may have been where we were seated, but we also missed out on meats very consistently, as they finished off before they got to our table, so we often were only offered the meats others did not want and that were less desirable. If we wanted the more popular meats, we had to request them as they were not brought to us or were out before we could get them. Hint, if you notice this is happening, change the order of your rotation so there is even dispersement.
I was able to reserve a table very easy for the time I wanted. The staff greeted us upon arrival and we were seated immediately. My coworker and I had been before years ago and appreciated the clear explanation of how everything worked. We asked for the best of Brazil and received a great price on out meal, deal good until December 1! Service was impeccable and the food was excellent! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
We were passed by way too many times. Asked for chicken from 5 different people who asked if we needed anything and were told that they would get it but we watched it go by us.
Always great service!
Another great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants!
The food here is great and I have eaten here several times. However, two things occurred during this last visit that stained the visit. First, not one waiter brought over any filet mignon until thirty-five minutes after we began asking for it. And second, the waitress told me twice when she brought the bill over that "we STRONGLY suggest you tip at least 20%." And she flexed her voice both times when she said "strongly." Wow. I always tip that much anyway, but I sure do not want to be told by the waitress to do so. Not cool at all.
It was my son’s birthday. Great experience. He loved the food.
The service was very poor. Not sure if they were understaffed but the meats took forever to come out. Seemed like once every 20 mins. After an hour we asked to speak with the manager who was very apologetic and comped our meal. We will not be coming back.
Nice for occasions!
I LIKE GOING TO THIS PLACE BUT THIS LAST VISIT SERVICE WAS NOT SO GOOD . WE HAD A COUPLE OF SERVICES BUT THEY WHERE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND . I THINK CAUSE OF WHERE THEY SAT US IT WAS BY THE ENTERS TO THE RIGHT WE DIDNT HAVE MUCH OF A VARIETY OF THE MEATS. MOSTLY THE SAME ONE WOULD COME BY . WHEN WE ORDER OUR DESSERTS THEY FORGOT ONE . OUR SERVICE WAS NICE AND APOLOGIZE . BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENS . HOPEFULLY NEXT VISIT WILL BE BETTER.
THANK YOU .
Nice atmosphere and everyone was so nice!
The food was pretty good, some beef was dry but it all tasted good. Loved the cheese bread and caramelized bananas...nice selection at the cold food bar too.
Mi reservación era a las 8:15 PM llegue puntual, pero me dieron 8:45 PM esperando y no me pasaban a mi mesa tuve que irme del restaurante. Y no pude cenar en otro lugar.
The waiters were super friendly and very attentive, food was amazing & the selection of fruit, salad, cheeses, and meats was delectable♥️
The service was quite slow. There were plenty of staff members standing around on a fairly slow night. We asked for more bread about 3 times until it actually showed up at the end of the dinner.
I’ve been here many times. This time I brought my boyfriend for his birthday and he loved it! Always great service and great food! I love this place and highly recommend.
Not as wow as expected
Love it! Perfect dinner for a special occasion.
Steak was dry. Servers seemed upset when we declined the chicken, lamb, or sausage. Better to pay for one steak at Donovan's or Fleming's.
Great food and service.
Birthday dinner with family. Excellent service with Chris. Felt very comfortable and enjoyable night.
The food is quite good, although overpriced for the quality of the meats. However, you are paying for the variety of meats available, so in that respect they do a great showing. Top sirloin, bottom sirloin, filet mignon, parmesan-crusted pork tenderloin, citrus marinated chicken, pork sausage, lamb chops, lamb haunch - I've probably missed a few! In addition, they do an amazing grilled cheese (literally cheese that's been grilled) drizzled with honey. It's not halloumi, but something akin to queso para la parrilla or queso blanco.
The salad bar is immense, and has delicious offerings like millionaire's bacon, freshly sliced meats, fresh fruits, grilled and sauted veggies, marinated and pickled delights, soups... you could easily fill up just on the salad bar. Don't do it! Take a step back, and enjoy the meats as they are brought to you and sliced table-side.
Make sure you order 1 (or a dozen) Brazilian limonatas, they are crazy delicious and refreshing. Also, save room in one leg for the crispy, cheesy little dough balls (pao de queijo). You'll end up eating many more than you thought. You can order sides as an extra - you get garlic mashed potatoes, polenta fries, and sweet fried plantains.
Last but not least, save room in the other leg for some flan - a lovely, eggy, caramelized dessert you didn't know you needed.
Service was good, teamwork was evident as we weren't left wanting for anything. Water, drinks, bread, etc. was always topped up quickly and pleasantly, and every meat gaucho was friendly and willing to talk about what grilled delight they brought.
My biggest complaint is that the carpet STINKS. Like, old socks, sweaty feet, never been deep cleaned stinks. It actually cast a pall over dinner as I could smell it so distinctly it interfered with the lovely smell of the food.
If that doesn't bother you, then have at it!
This was my second time visiting this restaurant. The food was great like always. The only thing that was lacking a bit was the promptness of our server. When we signaled for the meat to be brought to our table that was always fast. But we waited for things like our drinks for a long time. We were almost finished with our "market place" course before our drinks arrived and they were not even drinks from the bar. We also waited a long time for the sides and the dipping sauces to be brought.
As a long time Fogo customer, I'm disappointed on how our overall experience was this evening. From the slow, unengaging server, to the uncomfortable 'at table' payment process (think Chili's), I was left committing to find other options, when spending this kind of money. The restaurant is dated, worn and lacks the the character normally associated with restaurants at this price point. Let the picture attached of the wall I sat next to, describe the condition and overall experience. Fogo de Chao has sadly, given up.
Ate at other Fogo that had better service. We had to ask to have more than two gauchos come to our table. They didn’t bring sides until we were done eating. Fun place to dine with the family just not great service at this location.
Everything was great!
This was my second time at a Fogo de Chao. My first experience was in San Jose and was 5 stars a the way, so maybe my expectations were set. The San Diego location has a very small salad bar. The meat servers seemed to be rushing us with a total lack of enthusiasm for their jobs. We had no primary server for our table who greeted us, welcomed us, asked us if we knew anything??? Good thing we had been there before! I ordered a drink which I had to ask for twice!
We asked about one of the cuts of meat and the server had no knowledge of what he was even serving us, one cut was burned... hmmm... overall very disappointing!
This best restaurant I have ever been too! 10/10. I celebrated my girlfriends birthday there.
As usual very good experience! The same manager for the last 4-5 years extremely competent and attentive.
We had a very nice meal.
This place was amazing. The food just keeps coming by and its very delicious. The staff is super attentive, we must of been greeted 5 times by different staff, once by the manager to check on us. Kind of nice, made us feel important. :)
