Forestry Camp Bar & Restaurant
Incredible, fresh and inspired menu with local twists. Cod fritters, the tortilla, shitake skewers and snails were all delicious and the atmosphere was chic but rustic and homey. All around A plus venue that I look forward to returning to often. Great place for a group meal or small party! Wonderful service as well.
Service fabulous. Food mediocre.
Literally it was PERFECT! Our waiter was the best I’ve ever had in all my life, food was to die for and the drinks were amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to try something different. The food is localized to Asheville, but with an edge and not something you eat every day!
The renovation of the workers' dormitory into a dining room was well done. The wood floors and walls made a very pleasant atmosphere, and a quiet one. The food was tasty and ample, the drinks satisfying.
The food was very heavy—yes, I know, it’s Basque, but still....dessert was the biggest disappointment, it was described as having a chocolate component, but there was none.
Food was excellent! Service was great and staff were very friendly. Would definitely go again.
Very unique atmosphere. Food was excellent.
Upstairs in the section facing the parking is remarkably quiet. Even with everyone seated around us heard nothing.
We found food to be very overpriced for what you get. Menu a bit limited and our meal was just okay. The restaurant building is very interesting. Glad we tried but will not eat there again...would maybe go for drinks.
Great experience with family style plates to be shared created unique dining adventure
Food was great! A good place to share dishes and try a lot of different things. I requested a table in the corner away from as much noise as possible since I am hared of hearing and the table was perfect. We had Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, a vegetable tortilla, octopus, and an assortment of other dishes. Really enjoyed all!
An absolute 5 star experience! One of the best meals I’ve had in years. I will be back
Neat atmosphere but avoid simply because of the food and service. Beer selection is amazing, but the good stops there. Food is way too eccentric. Made reservation on OpenTable only to get there and find that the "reserved" seating had been closed for 4 weeks! Hostess was oblivious. Rest of seating was first come...although a party of 12 came in to be seated at a table pre-set. Go figure! This place needs a revamp on food and service.
Took my daughter here on a whim since my friends were just here on Valentines Day and posted the best picture. I know the chef from his other restaurant and was very impressed with everything. In fact I am just know thinking about hosting a baby shower there and contacting the manager.
Best beer and wine list period. Awesome locally sourced food. Very knowledgeable server. Great night out.
This was an amazing dining experience. All the dishes we tried had the most incredible flavors and textures. A truly memorable culinary experience that would have to be on my top 10 list.
Great evening of unique local beers and fantastic food!
Amazing! What a cool dining experience!
It was our first time at forestry camp and we really didn’t know what to expect. So we unexpectedly pleased with everything from the service to the food and ambiance. Everything we ate had such amazing flavors. The staff was helpful, professional and friendly but not intrusive. And we loved the fact that even though the restaurant was full the noise level was not. Thank you for a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. We’ll be back.
This was our first visit and we werevery happy about all aspects of this place! We especially loved the different sized plate options. We are just enough and left fully satisfied!
Everything from the moment we walked in was perfect. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing! We will definitely go back!
Fantastic food, wonderful service, extensive and interesting beer and wine list. Have absolutely no complaints! Would recommend it to anyone.
The food and service were both phenomenal. We ordered nearly half of the menu and everything was delicious. A couple of us have dietary restrictions and our server was great at helping us navigate the menu and even got the kitchen to make some small adjustments. Can't wait to go back!
Our server, Tecan, was the highlight of the evening! She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu and she extended outstanding customer service. The food was just fair - mostly disappointing! We would have enjoyed everything more, if the chef used a “lighter hand” with the sauces.
The food at Forestry Camp just - doesn’t taste good. Across the board. Maybe if you like spent hops and bitter beer, this place is for you. But the food is well executed, beautifully rustic, and almost every ingredient is a standout, new-to-the-average-fine-diner (xipister, preserved lemon, etc). I really thought I’d like it. But none of the food tasted good. Like, at all. It was all either bland, sour, dry, or bitter. And then the dessert we ordered for fun just to see was a dense and flavorless square that tasted like hard mashed potatoes.
It’s owned by burial brewing, so the conclusion I came up with is that the flavor palate at Forestry Camp must appeal to those people who like crafty hoppy double IPAs, beers people call “misunderstood”, say the more bitter the better. Because hey, that is a philosophy to have, if it works for you. But I am not that person and I guess not the target audience for this place. Everything about the place is spot on, except I didn’t like the way any of the dishes (we had six of them) tasted.
Amazing food and beer list. Beautiful space. Beer taps change frequently.
We did the chefs choice - everything was delicious, service and drinks were great. The price was very reasonable considering the amount of food we received. We will definitely be back - this is a must visit in a city with a ton of great restaurant options.
Really lovely experience overall. We went with a group of 6 and were well taken care of, good service and lots of explanation of the menu items and drinks. Really high quality and beautiful food and worth the price. Recommend for a larger group so you can try all sorts of small plates and options!
Forestry Camp is our new favorite Asheville restaurant! Fabulous food, great service, perfect venue. Choose the "Let us feed you" option! So much fun!
Great fun! The historic preserved, and enhanced! Busy and beery and noisy downstairs, but upstairs casually elegant dining. Great combo. Well done. and delicious food selections.
Nicely done! Wouldn’t of expected anything less.
Good flavors but it seemed quite overpriced. We thought something called Forestry Camp would have a less trendy menu, not so much a tapas type. Fine place for a beer and a snack, spent $130 on dinner for two so not a once a week place for sure.
Was late being seated but it was packed and the food was amazing (just let them cook for you)
A terrific looking place place in a neat location but.... service and food were inconsistent. Every dish meant for our table was taken initially to another table. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Having said all this, we would try again.
In a foodie town like Asheville it is getting harder and harder to be impressed by new restaurants but Forestry Camp is for real!! Such a cool space, tucked away off the beaten path! They have a unique and interesting beer/wine/cocktail menu and the food we ordered was outstanding. A small appetizer, two medium plates, and a side made for a very satisfying meal. We’ll be back - soon!
Lovely!! Would like to see more hearty vegetable entrees...mushrooms, etc
Party of 4, and everything we had was fanatastic and tasty. Perfectly prepared. Highly recommend.
Amazing experience, food, and service. Every plate was delicious and presented very well. Our server was one of the best we have had - even got us the lab plate of ribs in the restaurant. Ambiance was great and the site is beautiful.
Yes, it was a Friday during Restaurant Week, but the service was very uneven (slow even being noticed upon our arrival and bringing a beer after we’d already finished eating). The braised beef was served on cold turnips (fine, if that was by design, but a surprise) and the Brussels were undercooked. This was our third visit, so a bit of a disappointment as we’re trying to introduce our friends to the restaurant. Hoping for a better experience next time!
Awesome service and amazing food! Came here for our anniversary and they hooked us up with a chorizo medium plate. We also ended up getting a roast beef salad on the house because it was confused with the braised beef dish. Worth every penny! We left full, buzzed and very happy! Can't wait to come back and try the curated menu for two. Beautiful property with some interesting history. Great wine list!
