Founding Farmers - DC
Large portions. Maybe too large.
I always enjoyed, nice place, good food, good service. I can't wait to go for breakfast and enjoy waffles. Unfortunately around 3 times I went for breakfast and they didn't have waffles.
We had a reservation but waited a while to be seated.
My reservation was for 1pm. Our table wasn’t ready until 1:30. We had to leave as that didn’t allow for time to order and eat and make it back to work in time. Not a good option for those who only get an hour for lunch.
Great breakfast. Pancakes and veggie egg scramble were both delicious!
The food was greasy and the portion size was sometimes small for the price.
I was very pleased. I had a 5:30pm reservation. I arrived about five minutes early and was seated exactly on time. This spot is busy, so I know just how crazy it can be in there. But they did a great time shepherding me to my table exactly at 5:30. The food was spectacular. The ambiance was superb. The service was great. My server was Tiana, and she was pleasant and efficient. She made the meal special. the best thing about Founding Farmers is the diverse menu. No matter what a patron's eating requirements may be, they should have no trouble at all finding something wonderful to choose. I highly recommend this place without reservations. Thank you!
This is a busy place, for good reason. A crowd (and visiting family) favorite, the menu is full of variety without giving up the restaurant's farm-to-table signature.
Try the fried green tomatoes, and their salads are fantastic. Even though there are crowds, the dining areas aren't too loud, and the service is better than expected.
It's not cheap eats, but it doesn't taste like it either, so expect around $20/person with a tip.
Also, you need everyone in your reservation there in order to be seated, and it still may take a moment, so don't go in a hurry!
Food was good but service was horrific. Had a booking, had to keep asking to get seated - took a half hour longer than our booking with no explanation. Waiter service was awful. Some food never came out. Drinks came long after main courses. Food portions were strange - some good value, some bad value.
John was a great server. Food was fun, fresh and yummy. Servings were good sized. Burger was overcooked but still tasted good.
We arrived on time for our reservation. However, we waited over 25 minutes to be seated. Once seated we waited another 20 minutes before I had to go and find someone to bring us water. To say the whole experience was disappointing would be an understatement! I won’t be back! Which is sad because I have had such pleasant experiences there prior to this.
We had brunch while visiting our daughter who is in school in the area (she even ordered dinner to take back to the dorm that she raved about.) Very pleased with everything and will definitely be visiting again soon.
Food was very good. There was quite a bit of a wait despite a reservation
Went for Sunday Brunch and despite having 11:45 reservations we weren’t seated until 12:45. The lobby was packed with folks also waiting for the late seatings. Do not go here if you have other plans or value your time. The food was mediocre not worth the wait
We were seated at 12:30 for an 11:45 brunch reservation. We were completely frustrated seeing empty clean tables and empty tables with dirty plates. This restaurant has a major staffing & organization issue. Due to our wait, we were sure to order all our drinks & food the moment the waiter FINALLY arrived (at least 5 minutes after we were seated). Our beignets were served (only 1 of 2 orders... 2nd NEVER came) - NO PLATES, SILVERWARE, or NAPKINS. Drinks arrived next (shouldn’t these arrive 1st?) - my daughter’s lemonade in a fractured glass. I asked for coffee with cream, yet when delivered NO CREAM. We had to flag down another server to get cream, and by then coffee was cold. When our breakfast was served, they never brought my daughter’s hash browns. We shared our syrup with the table next to us as their pancakes were delivered without it. The couple next to us agreed, this place is completely OVERRATED! It is not worth the wait!!!!!!!
My three friends and myself went to Founding Farmers for brunch on a Sunday morning while visiting DC for the weekend. I made reservations for this restaurant 2 months in advance. Upon arrival the front lobby was jam packed (complete fire hazard). We waited for 48minutes to be seated after we were told that they were only running behind 15 minutes for reservations. Completely unacceptable. Once finally seated the service was mediocre at best. Our drinks never arrived until 80% of my meal was completed. Our food arrived and there was no cutlery on the table. We barely saw our waiter and when we flagged down someone else they appeared highly annoyed. Even though the food tastes good. The lack of professionalism and customer service overshadows the quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We waited an extra 45 minutes past our reservation time. Even after that, the service was terrible and slow. Our food was cold, coffee and water forgotten. Would not go back.
had a great time, the good was great and the noise level was pretty low considering how busy it was. the only downside was that I made an 11:30 reservation and my party wasn’t seated until almost an hour after (which might have been longer if my friend hadn’t spoken to the hostess about the wait time). aside from that, I had a lovely experience and it was very well-priced for brunch in DC!
We made a reservation and still had to wait over an hour for our table. Our waiter acted as if we were a bother to him. The food came out cold. Would not recommend to a friend and would not go back.
The food was great...But I did not like how the wait was I had a reservation at 11:15a my group of 3 did not get seated til almost 1p. That was very disappointing.
Excellent Meal.. Thanks
We made our reservation at 11am and got seated at 11:45am! What’s the point of making a reservation then?!
Seating 45 minutes after our reservation time. Restroom was a mess. Took forever to get drinks. Food came out - not hot and eggshells in the eggs not prepared as requested. I love FF usually but this particular day was a hot mess from start to finish.
This is my go too spot whenever I’m in DC. The food is fantastic. I would recommend a reservation to lesson the wait time. But the food is worth the wait.
Crowds of people outside queueing to get in. Yet inside - many empty tables. Service - good luck trying to get the attention of the waiter/waitress.
The coffee was absolutely horrible (cappuccino) - watery with a bit of burnt foam on top. Replaced it hoping for better and still got the same for the second time.
I think the place has a lot of fame, due to the location and catchy name. It doesn’t live up to the expectations and I won’t recommend it.
Very good! Service and food were excellent. We went for breakfast.
Great food, friendly service. Super crowded. People who were waiting for tables were hovering over us.
I can’t believe I paid $15 for eggs, bacon, sausage and a slice of tomato. Wow! Overpriced and not worth it. Brought my kids there for the first time. Have enjoyed many meals here. But the quality has definitely changed.
This was one of my favorite places so I’m hoping it was a off night. We ordered the skillet corn bread and crab dip to start. The corn bread was good as always but I haven’t been a fan of the crab dip since then changed the recipe. My wife however still gives it a chance. She didn’t like that this has barley any crab but full of artichokes and onion. Our entree consisted of my wife’s chicken and waffles and the Farmers Platter for me. My wife orders the chicken waffles ever since I introduced this place to her 4 years ago. The chicken was dry and lacked seasoning and her Mac and cheese was also dry. The only thing I enjoyed from my Farmers Platter was the hot dog. The mini burgers were ok but the ribs lacked flavor and were over cooked. I’m not a fan of the coleslaw and the street corn was dry and undercooked. The drinks were awesome. I’m not usually a fan of their mixed drinks but this night was Bizzaro world where the food sucked and the drinks were top notch. We didn’t have a problem getting seated even though we were early for our reservation. We found seats together at the bar and our table was ready before the bartender could take our drink order. Now you may think this is cool but having visited the restaurant over the years it showed that it wasn’t as busy as years past. Maybe the place feel off for others as well.
It was very cold
Everything was absolutely delicious! We arrived about half an hour before our reservations and were seated within 15-20 minutes. Have already recommended to others. We will be back!
We ordered drinks when we first sat down they took fifteen minutes to come and they forgot my sons iced tea.
We ordered corn bread as an appetizer and I’m came just as the food came. Some of the food was cold and they gave one of my sons the wrong meal.
La serveuse incompétente parlant à peine anglais . Nous sommes des habitués du restaurant et étions extrêmement étonnés de la baisse de qualité des plats .
Food and service were fantastic!
Restaurant, food, and service were excellent but the noise level was almost unacceptable. If was hard to hear the individuals across the table without elevating your voice.
Delicious food! Good service, didn't wait too long for our orders to be taken. Definitely make reservations ahead of time as this is a hot spot for brunch and weekends.
Took a break from MGM National Harbor to grab a bite to eat. Had a friend w/ me who’s frugal and doesn’t venture out of NOVA into the district very often. Food was delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. He was very pleased with the experience.
I had eggs Benedict with salmon and was violently ill 2 hours later for 8 hours. It was awful. I’m the only whom had this fish and got ill.
Reservations run consistently 15-25 minutes behind. Food is good but pricey and service was slow and inattentive
