Founding Farmers - DC
Very good food.
Background music was too loud.
Very long wait even though we had a reservation
Restaurant needs to space out their reservations more. Unacceptable to make a reservation and still have to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
I expected better for a farm to table experience. Limited to know choice for gluten free. Similarly no dairy substitutions or listing of food contents on menu. Crowded, slow service, food was so-so. Not the special experience we hoped for.
Really great food for decent price. It was crowded and loud in the lobby, but once we sat it was great atmosphere. Definitely make a reservation
If you're there for brunch, get the beignets!! They are like eating a cloud. A deep fried cloud, but a cloud!! They are amazing. The rest of the meal was equally wonderful. You cannot go wrong with this place for brunch. Tip ... make a reservation so you don't have to wait quite so long.
Food was delicious. Service could have been better. Server hardly came by and was hard to track down.
Been here twice- first stop next trip to DC
First visit and the food was fantastic. Our Server was Joy. She was the best part! Great sense of humor, very timely with information, knew what she was speaking about, etc. She is the reason for the GREAT review.
A wonderful experience as always. The service was great, the food tasted wonderful and we love that there’s no corkage fee! Also, the cocktails are top notch.
The food was all over-salted to the maximum. I do not even think about salt nor I am I some sort of food critic. I have never posted a single review talking about salt, but everything from the chicken with waffles to the branzino to the fried green tomatoes were so salty that they were nearly in edible. Everyone in our party of four commented on the amount of salt that was used, and actually it left us all feeling like we had a salt hangover the next morning.
Beignets were amazing. Cocktails were refreshing. Waitress was great and had a lot of genuine suggestions. Shrimp and grits were good, but have had better. I’ll definitely go back when in DC.
Great food! Crowded, strongly suggestion making reservations.
Had reservations for 6 people and the hostess wouldn’t seat us unless all 6 were available. One of our guests were running late because of a last minute family emergency and the hostess still insisted We have all 6 or we seat 5 and “get delayed in seating” when she arrived. We had to ask a stranger to pose as our 6th person so we can be seated. When we got to our seats it was a booth that held 6 people. Thinking back to why she couldn’t just seat us with just 5 people in a booth that seats 6 in the first place is beyond me. I originally have 4 stars is because Bianca, our server, was excellent. She made up for the terrible initial experience. If you go, and manage to get past the hosts, I would ask for Bianca. She is amazing.
30 wait when I had a reservation
Unfriendly staff( hostess& server)
Lackluster food, nothing special here but the name and concept - terrible wine list and completely out of some of the wines on their very limited list. Overall, a disappointment.
Terrible service. Didn’t even have silverware to eat with and had to grab ourselves. Saw our server every 20 minutes. Took 2 hours to eat a meal that should have taken 45 minutes. Food was horrible. Tasted like they poured entire salt shaker into my dish.
It was fantastic! Definitely a must stop place in DC
Very good meal
Our server Alejandra was awesome!!! Food was delicious. Definitely will return
Absolutely loved. It was the perfect start to our day.
Despite being only half full, we were rushed through our meal. $47.00 for one adult and one child for breakfast. I’ll go somewhere less pretentious. Ham and eggs were good. French Toast was crispy and not what I was looking for.
I gave this rating because we waited over 30 mins for a beer that we ordered. We were have way through our meal when it finally arrived. Also the food was salty.
Hi DianeP: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am super sorry to read about the slow delivery on the beer order and also feel badly that the food was salty. :/ Please know our Management Team has read your feedback and will follow up with our full team that worked on 9.12. We are hopeful that you'll give us another try in the future and I will send you a PM to stay in touch. -Amy
love this place, the food, and the vibe. Bar seating is great for singles.
Very disappointed. I took guests from Atlanta who chose this restaurant from a list of at least 10 of my recommendations for dinner. We ordered the shrimp and grits, the chicken pot pie, and the meatless meatloaf. As for the supposed generous portion sizes, this was not the case with my meatloaf. To give you an idea of how small the slice of meatloaf was, if you take a slice of Wonder white sandwich bread, cut it in half and discard one of the halves, that was the portion I got. Of course it was about 2-3 inches thick, but it was no bigger than that on the plate. It wasn't seasoned and the taste was pretty bland. It was supposed to come with green beans--I got hericot verte, and not that much. The scoop of mashed potatoes tasted of pure butter. This was the $23 plate. The shrimp and grits came with instant, white grits. Really? Not even yellow grits? Instant? The chicken pot pie was simply a soup bowl topped with a cut out of puff pastry baked last minute. Really? Can't use pie crust on the bottom and on top? All this including 2 iced teas and a water for $86.
Hi JPJ592: Oh no, I'm SO sorry to read about the many disappointments with the main meals ordered! I am also very sorry that our staff failed to follow up on the enjoyment of your dishes after the first couple of bites. With this all said, I would love to follow up and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Very loud. Rotating door at entrance is problematic for getting in and out. Portions were good. Slightly high price for entrees. The bacon blue cheese dates were very good. Price of drinks drives the final bill up pretty quick.
Hi MattH: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I am super sorry that the restaurant was too loud for true enjoyment and some of the pricing was considered slightly high. We appreciate your review and hope to have you back for another try soon! Please call us at 202-822-8783 for any reservation help needed- our team is always happy to note a quieter area for dining or also turn the music down during your visit. :) -Amy
Everytime I go I am disappointed. Execution of many menu items is inconsistent

First time at the restaurant - Food is very average. I ordered the plant based (impossible) burger and it was extremely salty. White wine was served barely chilled. I won’t be back.
Hi Calesham: I am so sorry your first experience was met with an extremely salted Impossible Burger & barely chilled White Wine. :/ We appreciate you letting us know these two items which led to your disappointing takeaway, and our Management Team will surely follow up with our Culinary, Service & Bar Team that worked during your visit to have this resolved moving forward. We are hopeful you'll give us another try in the future, and call us at 202-822-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Sub par mushroom Reuben. I mean I get that it’s vegetarian, and all you vegetarian haters out there want to be like, yeah that’s not a Reuben, but that sandwich was awful.
Visited FF twice back in June and was back in town for a conference and my first dinner stop was FF again! The Moscow Mule was absolutely delicious, as were the deviled eggs. We repeated a lot of the dishes we had last time--chicken pot pie and Yankee pot roast...everyone left satisfied and happy. Thank you for an outstanding night!
Restaurant was packed, but host staff managed reservations and seating guests efficiently and personably. Our server was fantastic. I asked if it was too late to change my order after placed, concerned it might be too rich. I emphasized I did not want to inconvenience anything, and she ensured me not to late. Our pasta and salmon were delicious. Have gone before when traveling to DC, and will go back again when in town.
Wisdom was our server. She was very nice and made great recommendations.
Great atmosphere, wonderful menu selection of farm to table and ocean to table. Lovely service and fantastic meal. This is my go to place in DC for everything from solo and family meal to business dinner!
Love this restaurant. Farmer's salad with chicken and the appetizer corn bread are delicious.
I’m not sure if our breakfast waiter was just having a real bad day or he chose the wrong profession, but he was rude and impatient!
Hi Jeff: I am really sorry to read that the service during your breakfast visit was considered rude and impatient. :( This is absolutely not at all up to par with our intentions of the quality of heedful & hospitable service we aim for, and I feel badly this was your impression! I would love to connect about your feedback and will send you a DM with my email address to hopefully continue this conversation. -Amy
Loved the food. The drink list was nice but no spirit list for those who don't like cocktails
Our group loves your restaurant. The service and the food (and drinks) is without qualification, the best in the area. Please continue your efforts to provide the best to your customers. Thank you.
Great food, environment and service. Have been here several times before and will continue to return whenever I’m in the DC area!!
