Jack Marshall was great. The food was excellent . Love the cider
Awesome! Food was really good and the staff super friendly and helpful!
The fireplace was burning which was perfect for the cold winter evening. Our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed the food which was beautifully presented. Our wait staff was friendly and competent. We cannot wait to go back.
Everything was wonderful. We were surprised that it was not more crowded for such a great place. This restaurant is a hidden gem!
Last minute reservation and wasn’t disappointed! The food choices were varied and very reasonably priced. Friendly and attentive service in a rustic atmosphere. We will be back!
Valentine's Day prix fixe menu was delicious, everything cooked perfectly and it's quite a lovely location.
Huge place for brunch and events, looking forward to going back for mothers day brunch!
Great atmosphere. Food was slow coming out and over cooked. Worth trying a second time
A rustic, quiet restaurant! Complimentary glass of champagne and truffles for each diner with a long stem red rose presented to each couple on departure a delightful surprise.
Outstanding for Valentine’s Day they had all these little extras our server was awesome and friendly staff been there several times always great food and friendly service we always have the same waitress she is awesome l believe her last name is Rose
Renee was an excellent waitress!
We love The Stone Barn for Sunday brunch. Just celebrated a birthday there and the staff did a lovely job accommodating our large group of adults and kids.
Service was superb. Friendly and inviting. Mushroom soup was so good!
Great food. Just bizzare as there were not that many people there and they had us all jammed in together. Would probably go back as prices were pretty good.
The food was great and the environment was lovely.
Have been going here since I was a kid.
Outstanding and memorable.
Amazing old building, beautifully kept. Food was amazing. Service, excellent. Can't wait to go back. A hidden gem!!!!
This restaurant was a huge disappointment. The food was absolutely awful, bland, basic and very overpriced. Our servers were more concerned about telling us what long days they were working rather than focusing on our order. We all felt like we were in an episode of Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares. There are no words for how bad this was and most of our food was microwaved. Lessons learned make reservations early when going to Longwood Gardens at Christmas.
After the lights at Longwood I wanted a nice dinner with my friends. Saw that this restaurant came up in Kennett Square. It is a ride out into the (dark) countryside but worth the trip. During daylight I would bet it is a gorgeous ride but at night it was a little spooky since we were all from out of state. Plenty of parking and a lovely setting outside. Inside is terrific. Large fireplace and delightful seating arrangements. We were the only folks there (4 of us) but I would imagine the space between the tables would still make it very easy to enjoy conversations at your own table. Service was lovely. We did not feel hurried but were welcomed in to this pretty dining room. Decorated nicely for Christmas. The food was prepared to order with very fresh ingredients. We each had something very different - filet mignon, salmon, gnocchi, and I had a vegetable home made pasta dish that was wonderful. Dessert was Limoncello based - mine was a cake with whipped topping and my friend had creme brûlée. If we were closer ( NC and CT) we would frequent this lovely gem but when we come back we definitely will stop in.
We had an excellent experience. Loved everything about the restaurant
I should have read more reviews .. I brought my friend from Florida for dinner here after Walking around Longwood Gardens for their Christmas event. There was no heat, and the fireplace wasn’t working. We were the only people dining for the first half of our meal. They tried to accommodate by moving space heaters near us while we ate. The food was great, but would have been a much better experience had my friend been warm. Maybe I’d come back in the spring or fall?
A great place for quiet conversation and excellent food , with just the right kind of flow to make it an exceptional restaurant. The farm to table menu, while short, certainly has something for everyone . My wife and I share a birthday, so it's always a good night to celebrate, especially when the date falls on Saturday. Foxfire has almost everything right; my complaints are minor . We felt a bit rushed through the meal. The promised anchovies weren't there with the caesar salad, but that was quickly ramified. The crab cake is among the two or three top crab cakes I've ever had in a restaurant, and something I frequently order. It had no breading, and the lump crab meat was wonderfully broiled into two matching mounds of crab delight. My wife's filet was properly cooked and the steamed local vegetables were a perfect complement to the entrees. One note - this is definitely a BYOB, so take advantage and bring a nice bottle.
This was our second time dinning at The Stone Barn. On our first time we had a great experience, however, our second time was disappointing. We had chosen The Stone Barn for dinner to celebrate with our family our engagement which occurred nearby at Longwood Gardens. We ordered the cheese plate, which the server said would come with olives and figs, however, when it arrived it was missing these items. I pointed it out to the server and the server subsequently brought these items to our table. My fiance ordered a steak with a charred casear salad, which she requested to be GF, however, when the salad arrived it was clearly not charred and was missing the anchovies. Additionally, her steak was under cooked. We waited a while for our server to check on our meals and we informed the server of the issue with my fiance's meal. When my fiance stated that she didn't want it the server pushed the plate back at her. Additionally, the server mentioned that the meal would be taken off the check, however, when the check arrived it was not. We mentioned this to the server and the check was updated. We don't plan to return to The Stone Barn again.
I have had the pleasure of eating at the Foxfire Stone Barn on several occasions. My experience has been positive. I would recommend that when dining is at full capacity you increase the waitstaff. Our waitress was not able to recognize us when we were finished our meal. She was polite and accommodating but had to many tables to attend on the night we made our reservation.
I definitely recommend Foxfire. It's BYOB, which saves you a lot of money, if you're wine lovers as we are. The food is fantastic, there are great vegetarian options, and the service is gracious and attentive. The ambience is rustic and warm. It's worth the drive. My only objection is that the chairs are small and uncomfortable. Everything else about Foxfire begs you to stay and linger over food, drink, and conversation. but the chairs make you want to get up and leave.
Fantastic brunch! And so many choices in a beautiful country atmosphere. Friendly attentive staff and servers made for a perfect day!
The ambiance was lovely but it was so cold in the barn that I couldn’t take my coat off and lost feeling in my feet.
On a rainy Halloween night my husband and I were the only guests at Foxfire. Because I had made our reservation two weeks in advance, the restaurant felt they didn't want to disappoint us by rescheduling our reservation. They certainly could have and we would have understood, but they happily served us an outstanding meal and the server was cheerful and gracious. I started my meal with grilled oysters and they were fabulous. My husband had scallops as his entrée and they were very fresh and delicious. I chose the filet mignon, medium rare and it was perfect. I decided it was the best filet mignon I had eaten of all the restaurants I had sampled in our area. For desert we ordered the house made lemoncello cake. It was light, not too sweet, and just heavenly. We look forward to returning to this wonderful restaurant.
Hard to find entrance to restaurant. When we entered, hostess greeted us and then took a long phone call while we stood and waited. Eventually our waitress seated us. The lighting was very bright. Seemed outdated. The food was good and our waitress was attentive. BYOB which is a plus.
Service was terrible. There were 2 girls in charge of our table. They did not communicate with each other it seemed. No one asked to open our bottle of wine. We were asked by both of them if we were ready to order and we already had? Asked for salt and pepper and she must have forgotten when she walked away. We were never asked how our meals were. Service was really lacking. Filet was good, but the Caesar salad was bland and the beer cheese dip was served cold. We were there for our anniversary and really hoped it was the hidden gem we had heard about. Sadly, we were disappointed. Very cute place though.
We have been there twice now and the experience was wonderful both times. This place is a hidden gem, off of backroads. The dining room has a fireplace and ambience, tables spaced nicely apart and quiet. Surprised not to see it more crowded on a Saturday night. I think they do mostly events and weddings and such. The waitress brought out warm bread with an olive oil with fresh basil to dip in. The mushroom soup was delicious. I had the crab linguini which had tons of flavor and my boyfriend had the pork chop entree off the new autumn menu. We really enjoyed that also. We will be back for sure!
Rustic and charming restaurant. Perfect for the fall! Duck confit salad and mushroom soup was great for me with tavern ham sandwich for my friend
Our family of six had a very nice Sunday brunch at the Stone Barn. Good breakfast selections were available as were many different additional items in a traditional set-up, including a carving station. Service was prompt and friendly and the ambiance was rustic and very pleasant. We will definitely be back.
We Hias a very enjoyable dinner and our waitress Charlotte was very attentive. The food and service were great.
Wonderful. Excellent food and service. We’ll be back.
Excellent meal- the use of local vegetables is terrific. There was a group in the room that added a bit too much noise
Our evening could not have been better at Foxfire! We were celebrating several family birthdays and wanted something special and special it was! The service was incredibly pleasant, prompt, and helpful. Our waitress thought and met our needs often before we voiced them. Each item from appetizers, through main courses, to the desserts were delicious. We were a group of ten but I noticed several smaller groups and couples present and they were getting the same attention and service as we were. This is a wonderful place. I will definitely return.
This place is a hidden gem! Rustic but elegant atmosphere and the food was excellent. We will definitely return.
We had a very enjoyable dinner at Foxfire at the Stone Barn. The food was very good and our waitress Charlotte was delightful and very efficient. Everything was great.
This place is amazing! Great food and great atmosphere!
The atmosphere was lovely. The outside terrace could be improved for a much nicer experience.... table cloths on tables, more tables, candles/flowers on tables, etc. The food was good - but not noteworthy. We probably would not return as out of town visitors, but enjoyed the evening.
