Menu options for all in a lovely converted mill building, complete with a coffee bar and entertainment venue. Very good food was delivered with friendly service. A great view, high ceilings and temporary art exhibit provided a feast for the senses.
On balance, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the service was “first class”; that is, attentive without being obsequious. It is a noisy venue for anyone who is hearing impaired, such as my husband and a few friends, but that is my only “alert” I would certainly return to enjoy the food and view!
Frontier is always a fun place to go. The restaurant has good food and great service. The river views are wonderful! While one is waiting, the bar and cafe are good spots to hang out until the table is ready.
Fabulous place and great food! Especially excellent gluten-free options- my partner has Celiac's and was able to eat safely here. We'll be back!
The food is usually excellent here, and the servers are pleasant and attentive. The location of the restaurant with views of the river is wonderful. A favorite spot of mine in Brunswick.
Had a really nice meal. Had not been in a while and will definitely be returning with friends.
In from out of town and local friends recommended it. A fresh step up from most eateries in the vicinity. We were a party of three (2 pescatarians and 1 full on vegetarian), we shared the famous (too sauced, but delicious) Brussel sprouts; I had a delicious squash taco; husband had very tasty fish enter wooden doors, follow signs to back.
I love the space at Frontier. It’s a. It pricey for sandwiches, and it’s all a la carte so no sides included. Great service.
Eat at Frontier almost every week. Never disappoints.
Friendly staff and GREAT SERVICE. The food was well timed, after our drinks arrived.... and the food was well proportioned and tasty!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Another excellent experience. Too bad their menu has become a bit more limited.
The food is an eclectic assortment and well-prepared. The curried mussels are exceptional. The table provided a nice occasion for three sisters to gather, enjoy good cuisine and share each others’ stories without feeling rushed.
beautiful space, great food, good service. Will definitely go back when I am in town!
Enjoyed a nice lunch with friends... would go there again for entertainment and food. Loved the place..... a bit hard to find but worth the effort!!
Experience was not full dining as the menu had been reduced to snacks and sandwiches. You people should have know that and put that information out. Instead I took my wife, dressed for dinner, to a bar for a sandwich!!! I will not rely upon anything you recommend in the future.
This is our go to place. Fun drinks and great food. Something for everyone! Plus cool movies and music to enjoy.
Micromasse is a must-see, and the food here makes it a perfect venue for any show.
Service for our large group could have been better but we’ll be back anyway. Interesting menu.
Frontier is my favorite place to go in Btunswick. I’m a little disappointed in the cut backs on the menu, sliders for one and no entrees for another, I am glad the fish n chips is still available, it melts in your mouth! The new turkey melt is amazing, if you are in the mood for a sandwich.
This time was a little disappointing. Our server was rushed, and the food was a little disappointing. The vegan nachos were excellent, but my teriyaki noodle with kimchi and a tofu add-on was really imbalanced. The kimchi is so powerful it overtakes everything, and I couldn't detect any teriyaki flavor at all. My wife had a fish taco and noted there wasn't a lot of fish in it. We've come to expect better so were a little surprised.
Overall a nice experience with family with excellent food. Service for drinks was a bit slow. Food came out timely and was delicious.
Great location . Easy to reach from Portland.
We went to Frontier because it is a good local option that we find to be consistent and comfortable. I love their eclectic cocktail menu. The service was terrific and our meals were good. The soup on special was the only disappointment but not a big deal. I do wish they would add more entrees to the menu but overall their food is consistently good. We go back time and time again.
Always great. Never bad.the cheicken burger is wonderful
Amazing food and location. Really enjoyed the old mill feel of the facility.
We have been coming to Frontier for many years, and bringing most out of town guests with us for a unique dining experience. As of 11/19/19 this will not be the case. While we understand that the menu changes seasonally and do like to see some of the new offerings, the new menu was a shock and not up to the standard that we have come to expect.
We ordered several items, sides were excellent (falafel, marinated tofu, and salmon) but the mains were terrible. We ordered two seasonal bowls of cous-cous, grilled asparagus, and ginger crema. The cous-cous was clumpy as if it was sitting, there was no ginger flavor what so ever and the asparagus was just three small tips. We also ordered two wild rice bowls with fruit. The two of us expected the rice to be warm, it was cold, not as in it sat too long before serving but cold, menu didn't say that. The rice was undercooked and mine had 4 or five segments of grapefruit and orange in about 2 cups of wild rice, that was all that was in the bowl. Our favorite sweet potato fries have been dropped from the offering as well.
In the future we will just come for a cocktail, as those were made as expected, and then walk down town for our dinner. Really too bad...
Perfect spot for dinner with friends- enough different dinner choices to satisfy everyone. Cocktails were great, too. Service was friendly and efficient. We will be back!
The menu has gotten smaller, which is great for the kitchen, for sure. Not a single entree i would choose, but glad you still have Brussels sprouts. I enjoyed my 2 appetizers for a meal. My husband’s was a little weird, but he ate it. Is it a new thing that they don’t offer specials, or has it always been like that on weeknights? Kind of disappointed. The film schedule looks amazing, though!
Unique, kid friendly. Menu slightly limited but good excellent
Great atmosphere and food. I love going to this restaurant when I am in Brunswick visiting my kid at college.
Love this place.
Worst meal. Waited forever for our order which waitress got wrong. Music - misnomer - was loud and obnoxious. Too many bad experiences. Will not be back.
We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at Frontier Cafe while attending the Bowdoin Homecoming. Food, service, and ambience all excellent.
Fun, interesting and lively place.
Muscles, salad, and burgers are a good bet. Portions are ridiculously huge. Share or order apps as a main.
My husband has been to the Frontier on a few occasions and has spoken so highly of the restaurant. We finally had a chance to go together and what a great experience! From the interesting way you enter the facility to the warm and attentive service the Frontier is a welcome addition to the burgeoning food scene in Brunswick. My husband had the Asian bowl with grilled chicken ...unbelievably delicious with the addition of sushi rice and pickled ginger. I had the soup of the day and interesting Mole’ garbanzo bean soup filled with warm and inviting flavors along with the now famous curry mussels. I can’t wait to go back we were there in a quiet night but the idea of it bustling with a big group of friends and a band in the background sounds too good can’t wait!!
We’ve been eating at Frontier once or twice a year for the past few years and it has been enjoyable. However, on our recent visit, we tried a couple new menu items in addition to the tried and true dishes ( curry mussels and fish and chips are always good). The harissa buffalo chicken sandwich was sent back for being so spicy as to be inedible, and the ricotta gnuda with lamb sausage that should have been sent back for being bland and visually unappealing.
The final straw was the bill. $10 for an order of sweet potato fries?! $25 for the green and brown bowl of gnuda? With no drinks and no desserts our casual Sunday supper for 5 people was $180 with the tip for an overpriced, mediocre at best meal.
We all left disappointed and dissatisfied and will not be going back.
Food was a bit slow coming out of the kitchen. Worth the wait. Our server was fantastic.
Wonderful place to bring friends and see a movie. I greatly enjoyed the fish and chips!
Pleasant, unfussy.
