Frontier Restaurant - Lake Lawn Resort
food was disappointing, vegetable over cooked, soup was cold and tasteless
They were understaffed for a big event weekend- no excuse for that. We waited around 20 minutes after the time of our reservation to be seated. Food was very good but they weren’t keeping up with food and plates as the large crowd cycled through. The service at the table was excellent and once we were seated with our food the experience was pleasant
Once the table with three out of control boys left the ambiance was excellent. Sitting by the windows for a great view, combined with an outstanding piano soloist made for an amazing evening.
The service was great and the food (fish) was good.
Spent a lot of money for the prime rib buffet. The prime rib was horrible and the buffet did not offer a lot of good choices.
We were there for the PrimeRib buffet and it was very good! I made reservations two weeks ahead of time for a seat next to the window overlooking the lake. We were disappointed when we were NOT seated anywhere near the windows. That was our only disappointment. There was no reason to make a reservation if they didn’t honor the request.
My wife doesn't normally like beer cheese soup, but loved it. She could also cut her filet with a butter knife, it was so tender. My pork chop was prepared perfectly. We finished dinner with the chef's mud pie - delicious. Our server, Rick, was also fantastic.
My wife ordered the filet and was superb, I ordered the Boston strip Sirloin and was very good piece of meat but a smaller cut than the filet and for the price I was rather disappointed.
The proportions seemed small for the cost. The waiter was nice, but a bit off in his delivery. For an establishment like this I wouldn’t expect to have to ask for glasses of water, nor would I expect to be handed a cocktail that was all sticky on the outside of the glass. The food was good, but not over the top for the price. I don’t think we’ll return. We can get more bang for the buck elsewhere.
Dirty glassware. Cold food. Smells like bug repellent and mold. You can find better. Only redeeming quality was view of the lake.
Good food and service. Good bar drinks.
We have had the Sunday brunch at Frontier many times. Most recently we had their brunch on Sunday, January 19th. It was a three-day holiday weekend, and there had also been a wedding the day before. This resulted in the restaurant being PACKED! The kitchen had a hard time keeping up with the buffet, and the wait staff was running the whole time. The understaffing is what led to the three star review during this visit. Every other time we’ve been, though, it’s been four or five stars.
Always a good time and a great value
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. While we were waiting to be seated for dinner we sat In the bar area. The tables had not been bused. We had to move dirty glasses from the table. Staff processed to bus another table but never came to clean our table. We were never asked if we wanted to order a drink. After 15 mins my husband had to go to the bar to get something to drink. When were seated next to a table of 4 overly loud women. We could not even have a conversation because we could not hear each other. Our waitress did not offer us any water. She told us what the cost of the prime rib buffet was and we did not see her again till I asked for the check. As for the food our soup was cold, there were no dinner rolls and the buffet was picked over with just the old crusted bottom of the pans left. I asked for my prime rib to be cooked medium it was not. I was up half the night in the bathroom.
The brunch is very good, the view is beautiful and service was good.
Lovely lunch! Beautiful setting, great service. Highly recommend the hangar sliders! Wow! Husband's sandwich was very good, also. The chicken looked great, but was too dry. The side of potato mashed cauliflower was satisfying.
We went for my birthday. The ambiance was amazing since they still had Christmas decorations up. We opted for the buffet everything was good. I expected more options though for the price. We would like to go back during the summer to really enjoy the lake view.
My favorite place to go. The whole resort is so beautiful. The Frontier is so relaxing and just wonderful to visit. The staff is excellent, views outstanding. Friday they have a sax player and Saturday a piano player. The food at the buffet is always full of choices and ordering off the menu it is just gorgeous.
Not impressed with new menu (except appetizer which was great) Server Allie was terrific!
Didn’t know menu was prix fixe until we got there, but it was fine. Service was outstanding.
Wonderful as always! Will always go back to the frontier and lake lawn resort💕!,,
Fabulous food in a gorgeous setting what more is there to say.
A nice Champaign brunch with a very polite and accommodating staff. Well worth the visit.
Went for the prime rib buffet, the prime rib was amazing however sides were for some reason Mexican food? So the blend was less than desired, and not until we left was the buffet sides replenished so that was disappointing especially for the price paid.
We have loved every one of our (many) visits/stays at Lake Lawn Resort (Lodge) over the past 45+ years! Our lunch experience this past Saturday was exactly what we were hoping for...quiet environment, delicious food, and a very attentive and friendly server, RJ! Thank you!
Casual attire, buffet style friday seafood, fish was hit or miss, some items were cold, shrimp was good, pasta bar needs a little work.
We had the Christmas Day brunch, huge, good!! Liked the decorations at Lake Lawn, huge property had fun walking around!! Beautiful lake view!!
Had the Christmas Day dinner buffet. Food was great. But 2 in my house are gluten free and would have liked a bread, waffle, pancake or dessert in a gluten free option. At least one of tgose would have been nice. We did have several food options gluten free and what we could eat was delicious.
We had a great time, as always, and we will be back. We are planning on staying for a couple of days this summer to enjoy the lake and play some golf.
The food and ambience was great, love the Christmas decorations.
1. You were out of the special entree of the evening. 2. Food was almost cold. 3. Service was slow. Staff seemed very frustrated and over taxed. Overall... won't go out of my way ever again to eat there.
Beautiful view of the lake from the rustic log cabin feel of the dining room. We both had the Queen size prime rib at $44 a plate. An awesome cut of tasty tender prime rib served with cauliflower mashed potatoes, broccoli tips and onion strings. Dessert was the best mud pie ever.
It seems that our table was a bit too close to the next for our waitress to maneuver through without bumping my chair. Once or twice no problem, at 16 times I was a bit irritated and her tip reflected my irritation.
We went for their Christmas Eve dinner. I think they were overwhelmed. We waited a long time for our table. Then we waited a long time for someone to take our order then we waited along time for our salad. And so on and so on. Thankfully the food was delicious and the conversation was delightful.
Great view and nice selection of great food at the Sunday Brunch.
Used to be outstanding, top notch. Now terrible menu and bad food.
We had our company Christmas party and it was amazing!
Shrimp cocktail, fabulous salad and Filet Mignon that melts in your mouth! Rick was the best waiter who was 3 steps ahead of us all night! Oh creme brûlée to die for! And who would know that cauliflower mashed potatoes could be so delicious and nobody knew that they weren’t real mashed potatoes!
Great food. Beautiful ambiance. Courteous staff. Easy parking. Reasonable prices
Every Friday night there is a sax player and every Saturday a classical piano player. The ambiance is so relaxing and calming! The décor and views are outstanding. The wait staff is very attentive. What a place to unwind! The food is beautifully presented and so delicious!
Outdated resort and restaurant. Buffet brunch was cold. Prime rib was difficult to get. Was served a pathetic end piece. I mean the very charred, thick e d that a knife wouldn't cut through. They had one person serving prime rib, ham AND making omelettes. We took out of town guests and thought it would be a unique, great brunch. Very very disappointed and were embarrassed. The brunch was horrible and I doubt can be made better. Skip Lake Lawn completely. I never expected such an awful experience.
The decor is very nice and the ambiance relaxing. Views of Delavan Lake are wonderful. The staff is very friendly and quick
We ate at the Frontier Restaurant for Friday night seafood buffet. The choices were awesome and lots to choose from. We sat at a table by the window which is our favorite. The theme was cajun, but there were other choices too. I highly recommend the Frontier.
Ate at the buffet Saturday November 30th. No soup bowls available. one gentleman said he was waiting for 5 minutes for a bowl. Popovers very hard. Someone came over and brought a fresh one went back, the rest were so hard. Missed the fruit tray and missed the fried shrimp. Vegetables were good and prime rib was good. Compared to previous buffets, disappointing
