Gabrielle Charleston in Hotel Bennett
So yummy! Amazing brunch spot.
Excellent restaurant at the Hotel Bennett. The food and presentation was lovely. The standout do the evening was the service. Our server was truly excellent and made the evening quite enjoyable. Will definitely return.
My husband and I arrived at Gabrielle on a rainy, soggy Thursday for our 1 pm reservation, but we had misgauged our time and got there at 11:30. We were greeted by a doorman taking our umbrella and swathing it in its own plastic "raincoat." We were the first diners to arrive at Gabrielle, and had absolutely outstanding service from every single staff member we encountered. We "rewarded" ourselves with a bloody Mary, which was absolutely delicious and almost made us forget the rain. Our server, Suleman, was very attentive without being intrusive. My husband enjoyed a flavorful seafood stew with piping hot French fries. My muffuletta was piled high with appropriate Capocollo, Prosciutto, Swiss, Provolone, Mortadella, Olive Salad, on a delicious toasty bread. It was almost more than a mouthful, but I soldiered through, before crying "uncle" and deciding I needed to take home the second half of the sandwich for a later snack. The only (very slight) downside was there was not enough olive salad to balance the meat and cheese. It was an elegant sandwich lunch on a very inelegant day - so very worth it! We look forward to returning to Gabrielle.
For such a great hotel this restaurant was Quite Disappointing. Hotel completely wrong by recommending comparable to Hall's.
Enjoyed our visit to Gabrielles for brunch. Service was excellent, staff was friendly and attentive. Manager even sent over a complimentary dessert for my husband’s birthday. We enjoyed the entire experience!
The food was great and the staff was very kind and attentive.
A lovely atmosphere with delicious food for a ladies leisurely luncheon and fun visit.
Superb service !!
Worst. Service. Ever. February 15th, 7:30pm. All three couples assigned the same server had the same experience. Table to our right? Wrong entree and her husband finished his dinner before her food arrived...in a paper bag.
Table to our left? Didn't receive any of their ala carte sides and an incorrect drink. And at our table? Both cocktails were wrong. We got as far as appetizers and soup/salad and a different server took away our menus. We took that as a sign and gave up. Upon complaining to the management, we got a half-hearted apology and an offer to comp our "meal", which I refused. They clearly need a training program suitable to achieve the luxury experience to which they aspire. At present, however, I would look elsewhere. There are too many wonderful restaurants in the Holy City to excuse Gabrielle's indifference.
The hotel is amazing. The dining room was nice also. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about menu and very professional. Our only complaint was the service was extremely slow.
I will say that both my wife and I love the Bennett and also really enjoyed the food (food was excellent). BUT (yes there is a but) we have had 2 instances where the service has been less than stellar. This time it seemed to be a lack of coordination between the kitchen and the wait staff. We ordered drinks appetizers and entrees all together. Our drinks came and our appetizers, we then waited and waited for our entrees. The waiter came up and asked us if we wanted desert (we hadn’t had our entrees at that point). Our entrees came without the veggies we ordered as sides. Those didn’t come until after we had finished our meats (why bring them at that point). They did comp the sides but it really didn’t help. It looked like all of the folks dinning in the same area as us had issues that were similar. This restaurant has a lot of promise but 1 year in they can’t seem to deal with a semi busy night well...
Gabrielle is an elegant restaurant that has a menu to match. The food is rich and richly presented. I had the duck and my wife had scallops. The entrees are plentiful. You could easily split a salad and we did split the truffle dessert. Service seemed a little disorganized but it was still good. I was disappointed that the dress code was not observed.
Took us an hour to get our table for a 8:30 reservation. Food was descent very over priced. Fire alarm went off in the middle of meal. Was told the meal was free and not to come back. Then two days later they called and asked for a payment when I was told that we didn’t have to pay.
Outstanding food with an elegant ambiance. It made the Valentines dinner special.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day and had a wonderful meal with excellent service! Beautiful space and a fun evening.
We had a delightful dinner with friends at Gabrielles’ restaurant recently. Decor is breathtakingly, food and service were outstanding and best of all, it was quiet enough to enjoy conversation with friends. They really have it all together there and I can’t wait to go back.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience at Gabrielle at Hotel Bennett.
It was a wonderful experience for me and my two daughters spending some time
together in Charleston. The food was fabulous! All chocolate lovers should try the chocolate truffle with grand marnier sauce. We ate it again before we left at the Champagne bar! Also recommend the scallops entree. The service was spectacular and wines were also excellent.
A great experience from the beginning: This is a gorgeous, elegant new hotel on King Street. We didn't dress up enough for the beauty of this hotel and restaurant--perfect for an elegant night on the town or a special occasion. We were in Charleston at a light time of year and so the restaurant was quiet, not noisy in the least, and ample time to chat with our helpful server, Daniel, and the assistant (whose name I can't recall) who is a senior at College of Charleston majoring in hospitality (and who will do well in that work). Food was superb. My wife had the oyster starter (I'm not an oyster eater and so CHS is a paradise for her); I enjoyed the lamb rillette, a real treat. We both ordered the signature flounder dish served over au gratin vegetables. It was excellent. Overall, it was a very good experience and one we highly recommend.
Good food, great surroundings and attentive service made this Sunday brunch a good capper too a nice weekend in Charleston. The room itself is airy and welcoming. Food was unique and delicious. Make sure you have the beignets to start.
Mediocre at best. Would not recommend. Ove.r priced
Great service and food. Wonderful lunch with a friend
Gabrielle Charleston is a wonderful place to dine. A number of us had the special of day namely: omelet with lobster. Honestly, it was bland, and not at all the savory in flavor. It was lacking basic spices, as well as a myriad of other spices that could have been added. Otherwise, our waiter Carrie was very accommodating, and we truly enjoyed our stay at the Gabrielle and most certainly will return on other occasions. Thank you
The service was outstanding but sadly not the food. The beef tenderloins were tough but the eggs cooked very well. The portions were rather "uneven" for the two of us.
My wife and I hosted two other couples and our son for my 55th birthday. All I can say is wow. We had an awesome time. First and main point - Gabrielle allows corkage and we took advantage with two bottles from my stock. This is a major plus for me. As to the food - it was amazing. There is a good variety of seafood, beef, and fowl dishes. For the appetizers we ordered a good variety from seafood to salads to foie gras. The snails and the liver were very fine selections. As to entrees - there was a great steak, lots of fish and I had the duck - which was very good. We pretty much tried all the desserts and everyone had a taste of each. They were all good - but the two chocolate dishes were superb. The service was very fine as well. Our server (wish I could remember her name) was one of the best. She was super tolerant of us as a noisy group as the alcohol increased over the night. All in all - Gabrielle is a welcome addition to the Charleston restaurant scene.
Beautiful setting for lunch with a friend. The macaroons were a perfect touch to end the meal. Made in house and perfect as they were fresh.
Stunning! Decor, food and service. A must visit!
Excellent food and service! If price doesn't matter to you, then come to Gabrielle. You won't be disappointed.
Very nice and intimate
We had an excellent business dinner, food was delicious and beautifully presented. Wine selection and cocktails were superior. Elegant surroundings and attentive service complete the picture
Very nice lunch. Everything was good and waiter was great.
This was our first time here and the lobby and atmosphere feels upscale. The dining room is a bland low-key with pale wood and little color. Our two staff were familiar with attentive service and quite knowledgeable about the chef's preparations. The first two pinot noirs we ordered were not according to the vintage but the third was excellent. The gumbo was definitely New Orleans style. Duck and fish entrees were quality portions and prepared with interest.
Service was slow and not up to par with the menu prices and hotel expectations. Took over 45 minutes to get breakfast, $5 for a kids drink and just overall not the dining experience we were expecting at such an elegant hotel.
5 year Anniversary and NYE with friends. Was never told about the pre set menus while making reservations. Requested Caviar because it’s an Anniversary for my wife and I. After making a bit of a stink about even servicing it because it wasn’t on the preset menu it was served. The presentation was sloppy and served with a metal spoon( which is a big no no). Any restaurant that claims to be as nice as this one does should know that. All the main dishes were generic and bland. My wife asked for a substitution with her main dish and after never confirming it could be done. I was given her meal and she received something she never ordered at all. The meal was over 1500 dollars for 6 people and we all left disappointed. With the number of choices in Charleston I’ll not be returning to this one!!
Outstanding food and service. We enjoyed a walk through the park and up King St after dinner. Fast developing into one of our favorites.
Came here for our family dinner before the new year. Service was wonderful, food was so delicious, the Molecular gastronomy is suburb. We wanted to savor each bite!!! The ambiance was beautiful!!! My favorite place for an elegant dinner.
It is a gorgeous location, with good food and service
Our experience at Gabrielle’s was mediocre at best...the restaurant was nearly empty, quite chilly and one large very noisy party. The facility is beautiful, but not warm and welcoming.
We found the food to be mediocre at best ....the charcuterie platter was sparse. We were there for lunch and the menu did not have any appetizers but soup and salads. The charcuterie platter was not on the menu...our server only recommended it when we commented on the absence of appetizers.
We had the shrimp etoufee and the king’s club sandwich which were fine, but nothing special. Our server, Austin was professional and personable.
It was Christmas evening and difficult no doubt, to find help.
The waiter had little training and the second floor dining area has little ambience... my view was the service elevator, partially obscured by a screen. The table seemed especially wide, making conversation difficult as the noise level was high. That said, the food was good.
A generally bad experience. The chef was never able to cook a steak blue. After three tries I cancelled the meal.
