Beautiful view of the harbor made the excellent meal a real pleasure.

Tons of character.. a truly spectacular setting overlooking Vineyard Haven harbor! The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. Our meals were delicious and the wine list was extensive. We had an overall lovely experience and can’t wait to go back!

We did the chef menus and didn’t disappoint. A lot of servings but the portions start off small and continue to grow. Leaving us perfectly satisfied. Staff was wonderful friendly and helpful.

Overrated and way overpriced. Very limited menu. The $90 ribeye steak had a ton of fat on it. The roasted carrot salad was a joke. We liked the lobster potato salad. The service staff was not bad. Best thing about the restaurant is its location right on the water. Otherwise, not worth a visit.

Amazing!!! Went here because of a TripAdvisor recommendation. Was perfect! Staff was amazing. We were recommended the Chef’s tasting menu and although it was a bit out of our comfort zone we decided to go for it. Every taste was amazing and clearly well thought out. This is a true gem!

First of all, even though it advertises waterfront dining, apparently you have to specify in your reservation that you want to sit outside. We were seated inside whereby you have to stretch your neck to see outside. The food was less than mediocre not worth the value at all. I would never go back or recommend this place for dinner.

What an exceptional place to dine! You’re surrounded by the gentle hush of the waves of the Vineyard Haven shoreline., watching a watercolor sunset, being served by the friendliest crew on the island! We had the chef’s tasting menu. I don’t remember a bite we didn’t ogle over! Literally! And, while we were there the staff ensures we were beyond satisfied in every way! Did we need another drink? Time for more water? Anything else? Here’s the chef to introduce himself! And somehow, it was never intrusive- only overwhelmingly considerate! We felt like rockstars even though we’re just islanders. It’s not inexpensive- but it’s worth every penny! We will definitely return soon!

Highly recommend the chef’s tasting; the six courses are quite small and had a very creative offering.

Location outstanding food very good and service spotty. 2 out of the 3 of us wanted tasting menu and they wouldn’t serve us unless all 3 of us got it.

You cannot beat the waterfront view at Garde East. We were a party of six and we had an amazing time on the balcony. Some of the pricing (ex: $90 for the beef entree) seemed to be overvalued which is really the only knock on the place. Everything tasted great and the service was wonderful.

Food good, setting was lovely. Expensive and small servings.

The whole fish (fluke) was bland. The beets were inconsistently cooked, some raw, some mush. My husband enjoyed the oysters. Our bill was just shy of $200, with only one cocktail. The view was magnificent and the staff were fantastic. Not sure I’d go back for the food, but the ambiance and service are tempting.

Unbelievable view sitting up on the deck overlooking the harbor. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. Food was amazing. Not a ton of options (especially for nonmeat eaters) but what we ordered was fantastic. Cocktails were excellent too.

Highly recommend getting a table on the patio where you can overlook the sunset! Food was excellent -- recommend the oysters, fish of the day (we had fluke).

But it did take 45 minutes to get our drink order if a glass of wine, bottle of beer and 2 mixed drinks.
It’s a pricey restaurant where one would expect to “dine” and not just eat. 45 minutes and there were only 2 tables

World class service with a unique & delicious menu!

We dined on the last day Garde East was open this season, so perhaps things weren't at their very best. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience. The ambience was spectacular, outside on a terrace deck with unobstructued view of Vineyard haven harbor on a perfect warm night with occasional light breezes. The menu was solid, if not distinguished, although the stuffed squash blossoms were a delight to find and to eat. Our main courses, halibut and scallop risotto were also very good. We had a good California sparkling wine and also ordered dessert (beignets) to have for break fast. Altogether a memorable night. Good food, good wine, attentive service and outstanding ambiance.

From the sommelier to the wait staff to the chef himself, it was absolutely fabulous. Add the view and our dining was incomparable.

The food and service were both excellent and the setting and views were spectacular. The only drawback is that the main courses are very pricey

$3. for additional bread - ridiculous! The dishes were lovely prepared and presented - too over priced.

We had a wonderful dinner at Garde East. Asked for waterview on the reservations and we were given front row window seats. The halibut was cooked perfectly our guests had the pork loin and loved it martinis were prepared perfectly as the wine list is the best on the Island.

Been going to Garde East since it first opened and it never disappoints. Have gone there at least 7 times this season and all very good. Highly recommend it is best in VH
