General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. Somehow these two halves make perfect sense, and complement each other in a seamless conversation, where neither wins the argument, but you really do have to see it! See you soon!

I think a few more selections on the non raw menu would be good. I invited a friend who is not into raw fish and I am only partially interested in raw options. It was challenging finding an option that was interesting but not raw. We ended up selecting Chicken wings and the french fries- While they were really good not for dinner out! Having just made it through Thanksgiving “ Roast Chicken “ was not an option. The service was amazing and ambience excellent. Many thanks.

Everything was terrific. Only issue was I found it way too loud. Unable to have a conversation with my date.

This was our second trip to GP. Our first was on a Monday so a very different vibe!! But despite the restaurant being full and vibrant, the service and the food and the timing of the courses were impeccable. The wine list is intense for a casual wine-drinker and the sommelier was so helpful and did a fabulous job suggesting the perfect bottle within our price range. Can’t wait to go back.

My only comment is the time limits for dining. Even though we were given an extra half hour, we felt rushed. Food was served and plates cleared quickly. Otherwise an excellent meal.

Went for the second time on my birthday, and it was just as great as the first time! Attentive and friendly and helpful service, and the food from the appetizers, mains, and dessert was delicious. Looking forward to coming back for more :)

Beautiful restaurant, excellent vibes. The Seagull is a perfect cocktail. Food was incredible- the chicory salad and the monkfish were a standout for me.
