Great service and menu. Ambience is fun.
I would tell anyone to visit , it’s a great place. On the downside the menu is limited if your a picky eater this isn’t the place for you
The food was excellent, the service was good. You could tell the waitstaff was taxed with the same scenario we see everywhere right now but without the opportunity to regulate the capacity of diners they were accommodating. Unfortunately that’s something that would likely be addressed by someone even higher up than a shift manager. We ended up really loving our meal - there were a few things lacking like the add ons we requested and drink refills on some of our beverages went unattended which is understandable due to lack of help compounded with overcrowding. I believe the servers are wonderful just over run unfortunately. My mom attended with us and she’s 70+ - ideally you’d offer a seating arrangement with a chair back to someone of that experience but again we were still able to enjoy our experience. One other thing that was out of the staffs control was that a guy from a rather large and rowdy group was smoking after being told by the host that there’s no smoking on the patio. Finding it impossible to avoid hearing their conversation we were able to decipher that they were either friendly with the owner or at least knew of them well enough to point them out so maybe rules are different and service is different in that event as they were accommodated by a seat change after mentioning the need for one also. As much as I loved the food, server, and general vibe we will likely stick to our other favorites! Just don’t let that discourage you from giving it a try as the offerings were outstanding, sometimes ya just gotta mention some variables to help an awesome place tighten up where they may not notice or think they could use a little work/help. Thank you again for a wonderful meal.
I love the look and feel of Goblin and the Grocer, and they have amazing cocktails and good food. However, it took us half an hour to be seated even though we had a reservation, and then over an hour to get our food, which arrived cold. We had to ask for our drinks and water glasses several times before we got them. Our waitress was kind and apologized several times for continuing to forget about aspects of our order, but we left feeling frustrated with the service overall.
Busy night and staff had to hustle. Our server, Brenden, stayed positive and gave us great service. Absolutely enjoyed the food (all about the Chicken Schnitzel) and drinks. We will make a return trip!
I brought my daughter and my sister and we all love it! can't wait to go back
We really enjoyed our first visit to Goblin & The Grocer! Aside from being unique and having wonderful staff, your Calabrian mussels were fantastic :) We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed taking our time without the hustle & bustle.
Good food, great service. We are big eaters apparently, so we got some ice cream afterwards to fill up, but it was a good plate full of food! The seafood options are impressive. We'll be back to try those!
The food was incredible the service left a lot to be desired. Hopefully it was just a bad night for her.
Delightful dining experience on patio. Sam was an excellent menu advisor, and we did the full program from oysters to little dessert pies, stopping for salad, salmon, schnitzel, and pork chop. If you vacation in Michigan City, make the short trip here for a meal when exploring the Dunes. Thank you much!
Awesome food, service, ambiance
Excellent salmon dish and our waitress was excellent! Definitely recommend!
Great place to relax and enjoy the summer weather with great drinks and delicious food
This restaurant/bar/grocery store looks great however the service is terrible and the food is OK at best. We sat outside which is a great patio. We waited a full hour for our food which primarily consisted of burgers. The menu is complicated/lousy (they did say they were revamping). I ordered the Chilli-blue burger. The quality of meat was great however toppings consisted of one oddly-colored square of blue cheese (?). The cucumber salad was terrible. We took friends there - had a 6:30 reservation and didn't get out until 9:00!! Won't be going back.
The food was wonderful! We were on vacation and used Open Table and they even called to confirm. Excellent service.
It was very nice. Atmosphere was great, drinks were delicious, appetizers very tasty! I had the salmon it was cooked perfectly! For dessert we had the key lime pie it was amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant!
Our dinner was amazing. Loved the fresh oysters, clam chowder, salads, and knuckle sandwich. Lexie was our server and she was super friendly and did a fantastic job! She sold us on the chocolate mousse pie and it was delicious. We were road tripping from TN and if we are ever back in the area, we will definitely be back! Wonderful place!!
We went for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Our server Talia was very attentive and gave recommendations including the amazing key lime pie. We will definitely be back soon.
Fantastic restaurant! The food and service were outstanding.
Very inviting place with a cool vibe. Interior is smartly decorated. Noisier than I would like but not terrible. Service was very good. Some unique food selections and some standard selections so a good blend. I had the chop which was very flavorful and a great sauce to accent though it was a bit over cooked. Drinks were tasty. Beer selection was limited and mostly IPAs which is irritating but becoming all too common. Overall a fun place and I’d go there again.
We went for our anniversary. The entire experience was great. A great place to go and chill and have some great food. I did order the oysters the size of them were small . The staff was awesome and friendly, Jade was our server!
We were in town on a weekend vacation, looking for a nice dinner. Ordered pork chop which was 80% fat and wife ordered clam chowder that was runny and Luke-warm. Not a good experience.
The food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable lunch. Service was good and the noise level was moderate, which allowed us to have a nice conversation with friends we haven't seen for a while. Great place!
Service was great, food was great, beer selection was good. I think a few more signature cocktails is all they are missing.
We were seated outside so the noise level was nonexistent. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. She explained the menu and was spot on. Our dinners were delicious and the presentation was attractive. Only thing was they were out of the entree I originally wanted.
Hidden gem. It’s a destination in and of itself. Brought our puppy and enjoyed a delicious lunch on the patio. Will be back!
The atmosphere was super cute. Great menu and even better food. Our compliments to the chef 👍. We will be back!
Great outdoor area to sit and have an enjoyable meal.
Food is delicious, small portions especially for the price. Clam chowder was great but needed to be thicker, was more of a clam “soup”.
Flavor for everything was awesome though. Juicer was a bit distracting. Overall great environment/ambiance.
Goblin was a lot of fun. We managed to get in on a busy Saturday for a birthday dinner. The service was good. The food was good as well - the appetizers were okay (the smoked salmon was the best), but the cocktails were well made, and the burgers are excellent. Fun environment and friendly staff and patrons. Would definitely go back, and glad we found this, since it’s a little out of our orbit, coming from New Buffalo (but only a few miles farther than going to Michigan City TBH).
Delicious fresh food! Soul shrimp appetizer was well seasoned and perfect size appetizer for 2 people
So I was excited to find a new place to try in the southwest Michigan/Northwest Indians area. My daughter and I loved the charm of the restaurant. It has a great square bar with seating around and some tables in the dining area plus pies for sale and various merchandise.
I have to say that my choice for dinner was not enjoyable at all. It was the portabello mushroom burger. Unfortunately, I found it overwhelmingly bland even with cheese and onions. Something like that really needs to be grilled and flavored up with like balsamic, feta, roasted red peppers etc if it’s not going to be grilled. It was actually the largest portabello I have ever seen. It overwhelmed the bun. It came with either chips or a side of pasta salad. Beware, must love olives as pasta side salad is pasta and chopped olives.
My daughter ordered the burger with the onions-cheese option. It was good but again nothing above average. We also ordered the lemon hummus and pita/crudité. It was not lemony enough-we really did not taste any lemon-pretty bland as some hummus can be, but great consistency.
My daughter loved her drink that was a mule with a cherry vodka I believe and cherry beer?? It was delicious.
I think there are many options on the menu that should be tried and may be the dish we love. It’s a great atmosphere and it looks like once the weather stays warm some outdoor seating. I think it would serve as a great place for drinks and a lite meal.
Give by it a try. We tend to order healthy options so maybe it does not serve that crowd for dinner.
Cute spot on Route 12 across from Beverly Shores. Trendy decor and really good food. Nice patio for warm weather outdoor dining.
The restaurant was very nice , eclectic, different foods than your normal restaurant and very fun to look at the pies and little store they have set up in the middle of the restaurant. Our table didn’t open up when our reservation started but the owner bought us a drink and appetizer at the bar so it was all good. We loved the key lime pie . We will be back !
This place is always amazing. Don’t hesitate to make a reservation; you will delighted with the food, service and ambiance.
Drinks, Apps, Entree and Dessert all delightful. Calm chowder! Root Beer Float! Different variety of items compared to other establishments.
Love this place. Great cocktails good food.
