This was a most satisfying experience. We had not been there for several years but it was the same excellence we had previously experienced. Highly recommend if you want to feel great at the end of evening.
Great food Specials and the flavor out of this world.
The food was incredible once again and the service was outstanding.
Table was ready at the reserved time, service was great - attentive and courteous. Food was prepared and delivered in a reasonable amount of time.
We were here for my mother’s birthday and she enjoyed her veal parmigiana as usual. Also served was a New York steak, penne with salmon and vodka sauce, ravioli portobello, and my pollo alla marsala. Everything was excellent! I was hesitant to try the marsala but it was arguably the best I’ve ever had!
I have been coming here for over 10 years, The food is amazing! I have never had a bad dish here, they are also very friendly and professional. I highly recommend The Godfather!
The first time I went a couple months ago the food was delicious. I had the Veal Parm and my friend had the Sinatra steak which was all good. So we went again and I had Fra Diablo pasta with white wine sauce and lobster, clams, fish and calamari. The pasta was very hot at the bottom of the plate which I assume over cooked it. The fish was fresh but the sauce was gritty and tasteless. My friend said the mussels appetizer was bland and it was in a gravy type sauce which did not taste good. Also we had Chicken Parm and that was over cooked. I just don’t understand how it could be so good and then so bad. Won’t go back.
Exceptionally good food and service in a great atmosphere.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE. Pollo Saltimbocca delicious!
The only minor issue I had is that it was very cold inside the restaurant. Take a sweater.
Kind of romantic. Great waiter and bus boy had me in hysterics when he swatted a butter wrapper with a fork to pick it up off the table. The food here is always delicious no matter what you order. One of my favorite Italian restaurants.
My wife introduced me to the Godfather restaurant, and we've been enjoying it for over 30 years and it's always perfect.
An enjoyable evening. It great dinner and The Godfather’s team was absolutely wonderful
Great place! The steak was outstanding and lasagna was out of this world! We we paid attention to by more than one staff member. The owner's came over and asked how everything was. It felt as if we were having dinner in their home, not their restaurant.
Best and most authentic Italian restaurant in San Diego. Great old school atmosphere with great piano music in n the background
Noise level was way up there! Everything else was outstanding. Do not go there if you want to have a conversation with a bunch of friends at a big table
My favorite restaurant in San Diego County. Always a treat and great experience. Fabulous diverse menu provides a challenge to decide what to select. Everything I've had at The Godfather during the last three decades has been exceptional.
We took our parents for their 65th wedding anniversary. Ricardo was our waiter. He is fantastic. My parents were so impressed with him. He shook their hands and wished them a happy anniversary!! We will be back.
Took two friends to dinner to a restaurant they’d never been to!
They loved it! Classy, old school Italian restaurant. Family owned and operated. Delicious, generous portion. Exceptional service from the entire staff. And live music. Hope they’re around for another 40 years.
Service was excellent. Restaurant very loud and noisy and crowded.
food OK not great
Best food & service! My guests all loved their dinner. I can't wait to go back for another friends BDay next month. :)
Love this place, they do everything just right. Usually quiet, but this visit it was noisier, don't know why, Big groups? More people drinking? loud party in the bar area. But it won't keep us from going back.
A lovely dinner. Courteous service. The portions were generous and delicious. I had the chicken marsala and it was all I hoped it'd be. We will definitely return.
Had a birthday celebration for my wife and a party of 10. Service and food were outstanding. Never felt rushed; the staff was extremely accommodating. One of the most pleasant evenings I've had in a restaurant in a long time.
Great food and excellent service. This is my go to restaurant for special occasions. Come hungry as the portions tend to be large !
My family loves The Godfather. I live out of state (NC), and we have dinner there each time I visit. The owners are wonderful, as is the staff. The food is outstanding and very large portions. Highly recommend!!
Our dinner at The Godfather was outstanding. The ambience is upscale yet welcoming and the service is efficient yet friendly. We had the $69 3-course special which included a bottle of wine. We chose the sand dabs which were delightful. This was our second visit to The Godfather and we will definitely be returning soon!
Wonderful dinner with my family! Everything was outstanding! Ricardo was the best!
very good food and ambiance and a good value. Our waiter was less than optimal as he tried to rush us
into ordering and did not leave enough time between courses.
Great place for business dinner or romantic treat. Excellent food and service. Really enjoyed the full experience.
Great food and service. Truly a very special place.
Service is always great. Food is typically very good. I would recommend.
Consistently excellent food and service. Never a disappointment.
Excellent service, food was fantastic. Great choice for our 30th Anniversary. Thank you GFR
I've dined here quite a few times over the years and I am happy to say it remains an outstanding restaurant. A solid menu and wine selection. What else does one need?
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic ambience. Love your restaurant. Come back often.
Food, service, and hospitality are always spot on, highly recommend giving this place a try if you want high quality Italian food. The frutti di mare is always fantastic
Great food, nice hidden gem. Reservations strongly recommended
The Godfather was opened in 1974 and is one of the gems of San Diego. It's like traveling back to an east coast eatery. There's a reason this restaurant is Zagat rated as one of the top 25 Italian Restaurants in the U.S. They have a large menu of specialty dishes, so there is something for everyone. Their bolognese sauce is spectacular; it's the closest thing to my great grandmother's recipe. It comes as a side if you order a veal or beef dish. Speaking of veal, they have several dishes that are delicious and if veal isn't your thing they have fantastic steaks and seafood. If you are there just for pasta their puttanesca, tortellini al verde, carbonara or spaghetti bolognese is fantastic. If you are up for dessert, the tiramisu and cannolis are amazing. They have an excellent wine list and a full bar. Don't forget to try one of their fine Italian coffees too.
Best traditional Italian in town for cheaper than the fancy places in Mission Valley. No need to order appetizer most of the time. Fried zucchini to start with, bread, and the entrees come with soup or salad.
