Chef Tong Chee Hwee, former Global Group Executive Head Chef, has returned to launch Gouqi, a new high-end fine dining Chinese restaurant located at 25-34 Cockspur Street, St James's opposite the Canadian Embassy, Trafalgar Square. Chef Tong has previously achieved 7 Michelin Stars across many countries.

The restaurant name derives from the goji berry, as a symbol of health and vitality that inspires the ethos of the restaurant. Using premium produce sourced from around the globe, the menu offers an abundance of flavours, techniques, ingredients. The traditional wine cellar is well stocked and features Chinese wines and Goji wines, and the bar offers Asian inspired cocktails.

Gouqi seats 92 covers, including 2 private interconnecting dining rooms; Crimson & Ruby, which seat 8 and 10, and combine to accommodate up to 20 guests.

Our Legendary Peking Duck, Eight Treasure Chicken, and Tasting Menus are available to pre-order 24hrs, and Live Norwegian King Crab 72hrs in advance.

The experience was nice. The service was excellent and can’t fault them. Unfortunately our pre ordered duck was delayed and we would have preferred to have it earlier but the staff were very helpful and approachable

Very nice experience, very attentive service for us, the waiter very enthusiastic and help us take photos. The environment and dining room is very nice. And food is very delicious and creative. Just feel the 75p bird nest soup is not very value and amazing taste.

A refined establishment but not stuffy and a more Western style setting to enjoy quality Chinese dishes. The Peking Duck was very good. The char siu is more like a pork belly cut but tasty. Bok choy with garlic is delicious. Three cup chicken was a bit mild. Wine list is good but not updated to reflect current availability. I would go back.

Very much enjoyed the Duck menu and the wine pairing was excellently matched and was a very good value addition. The duck salad was a truly exceptional dish, the soup was also an experience like nothing I have had before, the wine paired with this worked in an extraordinary fashion and an unexpected treat for the palate. Jamie the Sommelier was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and exactly what I look for. Our waitress Chiara was excellent very attentive without being over the top and she was professional and pleasant to be around, perfect. I appreciated greatly the respect and care the chef gave the food he was cooking through the gallery visible from my table. Enjoyable ambience, exemplary front of house staff and exactly what I wished for in our first experience of a modern contemporary Asian restaurant. Ying and Yang with flow and passion, I would love to go back. I wish to take my teenage children for a lunch to expand their knowledge and build on the love they already have for world food. It wasn't perfect, however if they had a Michelin star I would feel it was well deserved. A small number of dinners did not stay to try the food, I found this very strange. We found the experience to be excellent, the formality pitched correctly for the location, clean, modern and exciting and seldom being the ones to make it to the new cool places in London early I sincerely wish them every success and that we can afford to visit in the future.

Excellent! Gouqi is an exceptional new addition to London’s Dining Scene. The menu had plenty of options for all types of dietary needs. Service was efficient , Chiara our waitress was kind and engaging, she took great care as did Nick who made excellent suggestions… most importantly the food was excellent! Wines by the glass had an interesting selection. It’s not cheap, but worth a visit!

A wonderful experience ! The soft shell crab was so tender and flavorful - the curry mustard sauce was perfect for complimenting it - dumplings were amazing - this is a real treat and I will go back as soon as I am back in London

The food was amazing - loved the dim sum platter and char siu with egg yolk. Service was impeccable, staff was very attentive. Would definitely recommend this over Hakksan if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that has a a modern twist yet still remains some level of authenticity.

A new restaurant which I booked for a special occasion and what a fantastic choice! We have been to many Asian restaurants in London but this new addition really does stand out for the quality of food and service. Soups, squid, soft shell crab and dim sum to begin with, followed by pork, chicken and prawns - all were outstanding! Service was really informative, very friendly and we came away from Gouqi feeling full, extremely well looked after and very happy!!

Excellent restaurant. Our waiter Elgantino was fantastic. So informative and inventive. Great ambience. Squid and duck salad starters were fab. Loved the king pao prawns and the Angus beef too. Highly recommend the restaurant.

Simply phenomenal. Come here before they inevitably get their Michelin star and you can’t get a booking. One the best new restaurants on the scene in a long time. Special mention to Eglatnino our waiter who was simply fantastic the whole night and to the restaurant manager who gave a tour of the kitchen! Amazing.

Fine Dining traditional Southern Chinese dishes with a modern twist. We were mainly there for the dim sum lunch and we had fancy options that were unique flavours. Knowledgeable sommelier and a great wine suggestion. Friendly, professional and attentive wait-staff. Went the extra mile for a special occassion (birthday). Try their signature dessert if you want to get a bit of a show. We look forward to returning again to try some of the other dishes.

Our server, Leonardo was excellent! Before we arrived he had already consulted with the chef to be certain he would recommend only those dinner items that were gluten free. For my wife. He was attentive, helpful and responsive to our every needs. And his whole team supported him. We had the squid and the octopus for appetizers- they were incredible! My main was the half duck - succulent, moist & meaty! My wife had the pork belly - over which she swooned! The crunch was perfect! The perfect ending to our London experience. Thank you!!

I definitely recommend Gouqi if you're into fine dining. I've dined in Michelin-starred restaurants which I liked less than this place. The food is exquisitely presented, service is attentive and enthusiastic, and the wine pairings with the 8 course tasting menu were divine. Excellent sommelier. By the way, our waiter told us that the restaurant is named after Gouqi island, which is an island off the coast of China that has been reclaimed by nature. It's stunningly beautiful - all houses covered in ivy and that sort of thing. So I'm not sure if that inspires the food, but it definitely is worth checking this place out. Very near Trafalgar Square on Cockspur Street, *NOT* Cockspur Court as it says in Google Maps.

I had an outstanding dinner experience at Gouqi. Every dish I tried was truly unique in my extensive exploration of Chinese cuisine. This new place already warrants a Michelin star!

the best was the soup and the first 2 dishes The sauce of the fish, too sweet and not match the fish The rice is with too much sauce I am preferred a more oriental fusion dessert, it’s a kind of western dessert We chose a normal Chinese tea but for a fine dinning Chinese restaurant, this tea can be better grade
