Lovely clean and airy environment with tables well spaced and crisp white linen. Delicious bistro style food. Excellent friendly and warm service. A most enjoyable evening. Delighted the Guinea Pig was open. Worth a trip out from central Dublin.
Several options on menu were unavailable which we only found out about after ordering them. Two out of the four starters were cold and steak ordered was not cooked as per order and portion size did not justify the price. Potato that came with other main was also cold. We were also overcharged on our bill. Extremely disappointed with our visit as would have have had many delicious meals there in the past before the change of ownership. On a positive note the staff were all lovely and service overall was good, however will not be returning.
Best french onion soup in Ireland !! Delicious main course, nice and quite atmosphere. Definetely the high level restaurant , real pleasure !!
The low noise level, dim lighting, and intimate space made this a great restaurant for a romantic dinner. My fiance and I enjoyed each dish we tasted, both sharing our individual selections, and the service was excellent. He chose to order from the early bird menu and the pricing and selection combination was splendid. My main order was the duck which was absolutely delightful - I haven't enjoyed a meal that much for quite some time. I would certainly return here again on a future visit to this part of the city.
The Guinea Pig is a true jewel among Dublin Restaurants. We went there to celebrate a birthday and it was just the nicest evening possible. Everyone is being greeted personally at the door - without exception. The food is not just amazing, but when you go with the Market Menu, which offers a sufficiently diverse range of meals for each course, the prices are even extremely competitive. 27 Euro for a 3 course dinner menu is outstanding given the quality and taste of the food. It is no exaggeration to say that both the service and the level at which the chef operates here can easily be compared to top places in London or New York.
Fabulous Dalkey gem - great atmosphere, great staff, great wine - what more could you ask for. The refit has preserved the ambiance of the original but updated it
We have visited here for 18 years. Twice since the new owner has taken over. Food is amazing never disappoints. It is our favourite restaurant to go to. We travel from portstewart and eat here every visit we have when we are in the area. Look forward to our next visit.
I fell in love with the Guinea Pig as soon as I entered the restaurant! Great atmosphere and decor. The service was excellent; our server was personable, professional and knowledgeable. The food was exquisite and Chef Fernandes came out to talk to all of the diners at the end of service which was a really nice touch. I've been recommending the Guinea Pig to everyone since and will be back again next week.
What I'd call an "uneven" experience. The starter curd/beet salad was superb. The beef bourgaignon was excellent. The duck was average. The desserts were good, but not spectacular. The overall price of 60 euro for a starter, 2 mains and 2 desserts seems well in keeping with local prices in Dalkey. There may be better fine-dining experiences in Dalkey, but this was pretty solid. I suspect if you love seafood you'll enjoy it more.
If we could eat here everyday we would.
A bit dull overall. It was very classic but i just felt it was a bit flat and quite expensive. A sensational glass of wine though.
Best kept secret in Dalkey at present. Order the smokies to start (not on the menu but always available) or the monster scampi and then treat yourself to either the fresh fish or the stake!!
Was expecting so much more. The food was only average. Waited over one hour for the starters to come out. The plates were red hot like they had been sitting on the pass for 40 minutes.
Food OK and nicely presented. Thought starters were a bit tasteless but main courses were lovely. Staff very attentive without being in your face. On balance enjoyed the meal and will be back as I know the experience will get better.
We had good food if a little expensive. The ambiance of the room was a little dull even though the new owner has begun a badly needed over haul of the decor.Good to see the friendly face of one of the original waiters.
Certainly would recommend The Guinea Pig And we will return.
Food very poor quality in particular the breaded shrimp and French fries
Had a fabulous meal last night. I’d calamari to start but the star of the night was the scampi - they were sensational! Very well priced restaurant and the staff were excellent. Definitely will be back.
We enjoyed our visit to the Guinea Pig and were pleased to meet the new Chef/Owner, Jérôme. The food was very tasty and interestingly served. The wine list is good. Nothing is over-priced and attention to detail is appreciated. Service was efficient and friendly.
