Service was top notch, food is always amazing.
It was a great double date experience. The Samari experience was exceptional and it was a great amount of food for 4 people.
Japanese Grill and BBQ with a great vibes! ❤❤❤
Really Fun place!
Long cooking time
The food and service here was great! Alex our server was very knowledgeable and gave us great suggestions! Will definitely return here to dine again
Delicious marinated beef, service friendly and fast, portions are good, we get really full, one thing is our edamame was dirty had small noodles or little pieces of egg or food on top . Overall we enjoyed our meal
AMAZING DELICIOUS GO HERE
Food and service was excellent
Japanese rice that is not sticky... Miso soup served lukewarm... sauce for the fried chicken served in a disposable tinfoil cup.... so don’t expect much. Decent value though.
Good quality meat. Friendly and helpful staff.
Our experience at Gyu-Kaku was excellent!!!! We visited the restaurant earlier last week and just had to go back before we left the city! The service that we received from the hostess and our waitress ,Jia, was impeccable. Jia was very sweet, thoughtful, and speedy in accommodating my date and I during our visit. The food was fantastic as well! We’re huge fans of all of the beef items that they have, as well as the corn butter, edamame and spring rolls, fried chicken bites, and calamari! The smores are also an excellent choice for a sweet, nostalgic dessert! Their $35 per person unlimited buffet is a fantastic deal!!! It’s only on Monday-Thursday though.
Food is good but service and cleanliness for sure can improve.
Great experience for the first time and i will be returning!
Food was very good - service quick and friendly. Very knowledgeable of gluten allergens and very accommodating.
Amazing place to go for a date or in a group of friends. We were minutes late and they still were able to find us a table. And always so nice.
Gr8 packages give an opportunity to try various cuts. An excellent intro into the restaurant
I had a great experience at Gyu-Kaku. I enjoyed the delicious food especially the s’mores and ice cream! I would definitely recommend to family, friends and others, and attend again!
Me and my kids love it this is our favorite restaurant reasonable prices and great atmosphere
Everything was great! My family and I have been coming here for for a few years now. While the service was really inconsistent at first, that changed a lot over the last year. Today, our server was Pete, and Pete made sure that we got all of our dishes in a timely matter, that we had napkins, and that our drinks were filled. The food itself was delicious, as we got two lunch specials with the hangar steak and the beef sukiyaki bibimbop. We always make sure to come here before a big event to celebrate, or to just eat some good food!
To friends who never had table grill experience. Wouldn't recommend to Asians and fellow veterans.
Fun place with good food. Kids enjoyed it and were willing to try new things because they got to cook it. Serve was friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back.
Great! Waiter Jesse was great!
Not bad, you just need to reserve a table in advance.
Everything was great!!!
There are so many excellent restaurants in Philadelphia. Sadly, this wasn't one of them. The meat marinades were unexceptional, tasting for the most part like out of the bottle sauces. The quality of the salmon was quite good, though again, the marinade tasted like bottled hoisin sauce. The broccoli was waterlogged and tasted of nothing but sprinkled lemon pepper topping. In terms of atmosphere, the lighting casts a harsh spotlight on each table. The waiter needed to be asked to wipe the table between dinner and dessert. The dessert (a fried banana pastry) was dry and (again) uninspired. A fun concept, but the execution is very disappointing.
I had dinner few times in NY location and was expecting same from Philly. Unfortunately cut of meat was inconsistent. It was small and large pieces on the same plate. Some slices had mostly fat on it and some cuts were very chewy. Waitress never asked if we know concept of the restaurant or offer any help with selection. Bathroom stole did not had toilet paper and it is no garbage can next to the sinks.
Had a nice dinner with my 17yr old cousin for his birthday! It was fun cooking the food and experiencing dinner at a new restaurant in a new way!
food was great but service was very slow and server appeared very uninterested in attending us even though there wasn't any issues or problems. also, the appearance of the restaurant looked very worn down and depressing. the interior needs to be remodeled. also the grills appeared warped and old and the burner kept turning off. i've been to several Gyu-Kaku's around the country and even Japan and this is the worst one I've been to. we still love GK, but please improve this location or we'll just head into one of the NYC locations which is about the same distance as your Philadelphia location. maybe GK could consider opening one at King of Prussia where there are more nicer shopping centers and more modern and cleaner. good luck!
Service was horrible and people who came after us got served the same food before us. Waiter disappeared
In need of a serious cleaning. Cobwebs hung above us as we ate
The food and drinks were great; however, there were alot of moments where servers were difficult to reach. For a restraunt of this style where many things will be ordered a la carte, accessiblity to servers are key, and even trying to get eye contact to call them over was difficult. The last thing people would want to do is actually get up from their seats to get their attention, but it could be between 10-20 minutes of waiting when you initially need something else. As for the ambiance, it was great overall, not too loud and lighting was appropriate for the setting. The only thing is the ventilation, which felt minimal given the concept of the restraunt. After awhile it began to feel a bit like a sauna as there was no direct ventilation near the grills.
We really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was great, atmosphere was calm and welcoming, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
More than enough food for everyone to be satisfied. Order the ‘hapPy hour’, with some extras fed 3ppl.
The service left a lot to be desired initially as when we arrived, the shifts were changing and they asked us to wait at the bar till 5:00pm when the waiters would be ready. Mind you we arrived at 4:20. They didn't say "hey complimentary drink on the house" or anything. It was Friday so they were handing out checks (an argument between a waiter and possible manager occurred also SMH) Needless to say, we waited till 5:00 and were seated. The food was great, Japanese fried chicken and the shrimp garlic noodles were amazing. The meat selections were great as well. I would arrive after five or far before as a suggestion.
Got sick and didn’t make it to my concert after this meal! Will never be back
Service was great, the food was delicious and we had an amazing time. Thank you for the experience.
The only issue with the restaurant is no matter if you are on time for your reservation or not they will always make you wait or tell you they’re not ready to sit you for about 5 minutes. This has literally occurred each of the 4 times I have been there - the tables are all made and they have plenty of open tables so it’s head scratching behavior. Every other part of the meal is great. Will definitely go back in the future again.
