Was great food, people and ambiance but the service wasn’t not great. We were seated for 20 mins before anyone came over to give us water , take a drink order or even give us a menu.
I went there on my friend’s birthday during Covid, it was awesome and quiet . I brought my boyfriend there, it was his first time and he liked the place. He had the seafood stew, I tasted it, it was great, he liked it. I had the Amish chicken, unfortunately it was not as great as it was the first time I was there. I ate it anyway, although they forgot to bring me my side, it came when the chicken was half way through.
Overall, it’s fantastic!!!
service was extremely slow. like our appetizers came out before our drinks slow. beautiful place but seems understaffed, our waitress was literally running from inside to outside serving tables all over the restaurant. also more expensive than some restaurants in manhattan. over $200 for 2 people 1 cocktail each one main dish and one app each.
Superlative experience… great food … loved duck liver Pâtè, dressed Oysters, clam chowder with smoked ham, smoked trout, lobster rigatoni, and Amish chicken … every dish … not to forget the cocktails … was delicious!!!
we've been here several times but mostly come back only for the weekend brunch which offers a variety of sample dishes and/or regular entrees and the food is good while the service is average to good. if you haven't gone you should give it a try.
The atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous. The views were impeccable. That being said, I have never been to a restaurant where they tried to bus my table to fast and aggressively, coming up to us every 10 minutes asking if we were done yet. I expected more from the food taste wise as the menu was very advanced and interesting.
Had a lovey lunch, sat outside. Service was impeccable and my chicken sandwich with potato wedges was delicious. I would definitely go back.
The quality of the food was okay... For the price I was expecting so much better 50 USD for brunch with so so food was not worth it
5.5/10. Was a favorite pre covid but recent indoor dining for a birthday event wasnt as great. The set up for brunch was ok, 2 different seating windows. Did not like that the restaurant wasn't clear that the 2 hr limit meant patrons leaving after 2 hrs. The impression was 2hrs for for food and drink service & not eating time. Arrived on time but Food took over 30mins to arrive at our table and had to rush through eating and drinking after we were informed 5 mins past the brunch window that we had to leave. Dont like to waste food. The restaurant could have been clear and account for 20-30min for patrons to finish up. Could have scored higher but this experience was a no-no.
Great food, good value, great concept with the unlimited small plates & the mimosa.
Highly affordable but food incredibly bad, often inedible.
The service is really bad. The waiter is not happy and really mad. And he is definitely angry when we want to order something more. lol. The worst thing is 20% mandatory tip even with this bad service
Quality food and presentation. Seasonal menu.
We reserve brunch buffet. However, the food was served really slow. Taste just mediocre. The worst thing is they told us there is no smoked salmon at the end (after we almost done and we asked why there is no smoked salmon).... really disappointed. Service fee is pretty expensive but service was bad.
Usually amazing place to eat but what a horrible night. Had to switch servers due to lack of attention. Must be difficult to get good help. Will try again as it has always been good before.
Awful! Just awful! 45 minutes to get a burnt appetizer. Even longer to get entrees. No explanation, nothing comped. Was really looking forward to it but was greatly disappointed
Had lunch during the week with my mom. It was a Wednesday so I think they were probably understaffed in the kitchen. Food coming out was very slow. The waiter was hustling hard so not really anyone’s fault. The Caesar salad with white anchovies was excellent and big portion. My chicken sandwich was good, just a little dry, and the fries had too much paprika IMO. My mom said her burger seemed undercooked in the middle like it was frozen before and didn’t quite finish cooking. She is fussy so I take with grain of salt but at these prices I think she deserves to be fussy. She had a cappuccino she said did not taste good either. View is beautiful and inside of restaurant very nice. Something a little odd...they let this guy at the table next to us stay on his FaceTime at full volume...it was very distracting. I wish they would have told him to take his call outside. I would give it another shot but wouldn’t be one of my top places to eat in Hoboken.
The wait staff was delightful and sitting on the river is always a treat. But we were really impressed with the food. The shrimp sliders were special as was the sea bass tartare. And don’t skip the spiced cheesecake. Worth the calories. I will be back.
One of the not so many good restaurants in Hoboken.
they have good food but the price is too much for the food that is served. I could have the same meal o even a better meal for half of what I paid there.
Basic trendy brunch place that’s all about profit. Wait staff serves your food then disappears. Food was brutal. Don’t go if you’re looking for an actual good meal.
Took my mother & Aunt to Halifax on Sunday for mothers day. The waiter took about 20-25min to take our order and that was about the last time we saw him until it was time for the check. We did the bubbles brunch menu and each course was was lackluster, some of the food did not taste cooked enough or warm.
The only options for drinks were champagne and bloodymarys, I would have been fine paying for a bottle of wine or even a beer but we could not get our waiter to even order it.
They dropped the check so fast not even asking how everything was or asking if we wanted to order more food.
We left Halifax unimpressed and unsatisfied.
We all tried to be understanding with coming back from COVID and restaurants getting back on their feet but this was just bad.
Great mother's day brunch. Staff was amazing, food was excellent, no rush on table time.
Fantastic restaurant on the weekend whether for friends or a date night! Loved the environment and food was good. Also service was lovey. An upscale place without the pretension.
Terrible service. Food was good but the service made it not worthwhile. Took over 30 minutes simply for our server to bring our check.
We cam for lunch and it was excellent! Quiet, food was seasonal and very fresh. Great service and lots of safe dining space.
The service is top drawer with an attentive but not annoying server. Even the support staff services were high quality. I had the seafood stew and my husband had the lobster rigatoni. Both were okay, not exceptional but okay. The dessert was a completely different story. We both had the cheesecake served with 3 different flavored scoops of sorbet (poached pear, apple and cherry). That was to die for!!!
If you want to have a quiet dinner, not to expensive, in a nice place.
I truly enjoyed my birthday and the food as well as the service!
Overall Halifax is a nice dining experience. I found the food, though, to lack flavor and to not be very imaginative. It is very heavy on seafood and meat (which makes sense) but as a vegetarian I struggled with options. Drinks were the best part of the experience.
We went for the Sunday brunch. While all the food was pretty good, and the waiter explained that all the food items on the brunch menu would be brought out in 4 "waves" then, we were free to order more of any of the items we really liked until 4 pm. Since we got there at 2 pm, we had less than a 2 hour "window" since we theoretically had to wait until we tasted all the food items. The mimosas were great! and we pretty much enjoyed the selection. However, it became obvious that the meat items were reserved until the end of the 4th wave and took the longest to get to our table. Consequently, we had no time to "order more"... not very nice. Still would come back because of the great location but will already know in advance what we will order more of.
Amazing. Amazing food, view, atmosphere, and service ! Loved every minute of it !
Food was outstanding....But it seems they put us in a makeshift table.....
Server was very discombobulated and ended up losing our check. He may have been overworked. Also we were seated in an interior space with no view even though I had made a reservation in the main restaurant, with no explanation.
I had a very bad experience and I will never come back again. I reserved a table at 5:30 for three people and we arrived a little bit earlier. The restaurant was 90% empty with lots of seats outside also. The host led us to a table that next to the door and kitchen where lots of people were going through. I kindly asked her if I can switch to another table. She said that she did not think so but she can check for me. And I never hear anything back from her again...FYI, we left one hour later and the restaurant was still 60% empty...
For the food, it is not that impressed and the Lobster portion was really small.
Another thing that bothers me was the automatically 20% service charge on my bill. The server did not even mention that to me. I understand the tough situation during Covid, but I am not happy that I am not informed.
Nancy. She absolutely made our night. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and she gave us impeccable service, was so friendly and chatted with us for a while when she wasn’t busy. Brought out a birthday dessert for us and a shot on the house, she somehow guessed exactly which liquor we liked to drink, I was definitely impressed. Please ask for Nancy when reserving, you will not regret it. The hostess was very kind as well as we had to reschedule our reservation twice (sorry!) The food was absolutely delicious as well. The oysters were the best I’ve had in a while, which surprised me. Highly recommended if in the area.
Food was average at best. They think they are a NYC restaurant but have a long way to go!
nice ambiance, and decor, food was excellent; albeit to much bread and not enough cheese, salad or smoked trout on the 3 combo app....over all very pleased....
