Hampton Winds is first and foremost a place that offers really good meals at extremely good prices. The menu isn't huge, but it has something for just about every taste. The preparation and presentation of our meals was top notch and the food was very tasty. It's totally on par with the better restaurants in the area. Our service was very prompt, something that's often lacking in the busy commercial places around the Lehigh Valley. Also, because it's BYOB, you're not paying the price of a half bottle of wine for one glass. We'll be sure to return.
The food was delicious and our server was attentive. We will be back!
Pleasant server...quite atmosphere, fire in the fire place for ambience...excellent food. Received a nice tour of the kitchen.
Wonderful choices. Great room. Wonderful prices.
Most of our entrees were perfect, but two of them, filets were overdone
Our meal was delicious we really enjoyed it. We will be back again. The Students are doing a great job.
Lunch was excellent. Food was beyond good. For once i slowed down and tasted each bite. I even listened to what my wife said while slowly chewing the beef kabobs on roseto. The soup was bean soup was wonderful.
It was Valentine’s Day. It was lunch but I was expecting something other than the standard menu; if only dessert. Unfortunately, there was none. It was a nice lunch - unhurried. The food was good but not memorable. The setting is very nice and it was very quiet. Something that is not found in most restaurants.
The only complaint I have was with the service. I assume the students work in the restaurant to learn what good service is and to practice. The waiter we had always served the man first. Not only at our table but at all the tables he handled. He did not clear the table correctly or clean up crumbs between courses. He was very pleasant so I’m not sure to what level of service they are trained for.
We did have a very enjoyable lunch and plan to go back again.
It was delicious and very enjoyable! Our server was very nice, professional, and very accommodating to our requests! Our whole experience was amazing! Great job to the whole team!
I work at Northampton Community College and had heard good things about Hampton Winds. My experience went above and beyond my expectations. The service was great. The plating was just gorgeous. And it was so delicious. I can't believe the restaurant is completely student-run. I can't wait to go back and try the latest menu!
The presentation of the food and the taste of it was very delightful. The ambiance and the service was of top quality level. Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
Another great dinner at Hampton Winds! The food was incredible & service was great.
Such a lovely evening. The fireplace was glowing and food was terrific. I haven’t had a bad meal here ever. I had the filet and it was great! The others at the table also had terrific dinners. BYOB, prices are great for a 3 or 4 course meal. You can’t beat it. It’s also great to know that you are helping students!
Always a special great to have dinner at the Hampton Winds. I am never disappointed. A variety of food is offered. I also love to support the upcoming chefs.
It was a lovely night out with friends. The menu had great selections and the pricing is perfect; nice to have it priced by number of courses. Our food was delicious. There was a little mix-up with one meal, but they corrected it immediately and gave us a discount because of the snafu. That was very gracious We will definitely return!
The setting is very pleasant and inviting for dinner with the fireplace aglow. It's quiet enough for conversation which is very much appreciated. The wait staff was attentive, able to answer our questions and nearby if we needed them. One in our party ordered the Osso Bucco and was disappointed to see that it had a very large bone and little meat to eat. Another ordered the bouillibaisse and would like to have seen it with more spice. I ordered the duck and though it was listed as crispy, it was not what I expected. I have to disclose that only rarely do I get duck to my liking but I ordered it with hopes. Also the tiramisu needed more liquor. It seemed more like a chocolate cake but was nonetheless very good.
We had a great time. Unfortunately, we made a mistake calculating the gratuity. We accidentally did not leave as much as we intended. Sorry about that.
We had a very nice time staff and food was very good.
Question? Is it proper to wait and serve a man before the women. I was served and waited on first and my wife was second. Is that the new edict? I was trained ladies before gentlemen.
We celebrated our Christmas Exchange at Hampton Winds & all participants felt the ambiance as well as the various food selections were of the highest quality. We will definitely be planning a return visit.
Mu husband and I have eaton at Haptom Winds twice, and I can say in all honesty that the two experiences we had there were the best dining experiences ever! We went there knowing that the whole experience would take about 2 hours. Each course was just enough and so delicious, with plenty of time to enjoy the food and conversation. The service was wonderful, too. I can't say enough good things about the food and the whole dining experience!
Food was delicious. I also ordered dinner to go. My server was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Fantastic food and service with homey ambiance. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
My friend and I ate there for lunch on a Friday. It was quiet and so nice to be able bring ave a leisurely lunch to catch up. I had the special student which and the Special ham and bean soup. Both delicious and the quiche was outstanding- the crust homemade a- flaky and fabulous as was the fluffy Southwestern Quiche. My friend had the scallops over risotto which had about 5 good size scallops done perfectly and she said was excellent. A great place for lunch or dinner and we always enjoy our meals there. Can’t wait to go there for dinner next!
My husband & I dined at Hampton Winds recently after not visiting in many years. The food & service were top notch! I was happy to see pescatarian & vegetarian options on the menu in every course category. The desserts were also fantastic. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
It has been quite a while since our last visit. After our bread was served, we received a gift from the kitchen of a tasty treat made with goat cheese. Most of the restaurants we frequent do not serve palate cleansers between courses. It was a refreshing surprise. The service was exceptional as our server and the hostess attended to us. We miss the dessert cart, but the dessert offerings are quite varied and ours was very good.
I was very excited to return to the Hampton Winds. We have not been there in years, previously it was an exceptional place to dine. I was disappointed, have no desire to return. The food was average. Presentation was lacking on my entree and then excessive on the dessert. Quite shocked when the server handed me a knife with the tip facing me. Not sure if this was a off night for them or if the standards have been lowered. Hopefully it was a bad night for them and not the new norm.
Although this is a student-run restaurant, the food is outstanding. Everyone was helpful and friendly.
I liked the old menus better with more creamy soup choices and the dessert tray to admire the desserts.
Simply wonderful! The experience was one I am looking forward to sharing with my friends and family.
Absolutely the best value and highest quality food for your dollar. We have been to Hampton Winds many, many times and have never been disappointed. The food is prepared by the Culinary Arts students at NCACC and they do an outstanding job! I dare you to find better food in the Lehigh Valley. A changing menu keeps food boredom from setting in. Dinners are Prix Fixe for 3, 4 or 5 courses. And best of all is BYOB.
Once you go there, you will ask yourself what took you so long.
Delicious 5 star food. Very impressed! Fine dining food at an affordable cost.
Our sever was fantastic. Unfortunately his name escapes me. We had dinner Oct 11th to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you.
Have been to Hampton Winds many times over the years. The quality during this visit of the food was ordinary. The service was poor. Hampton Winds used to be a culinary school that was wonerful with the food. I believe they may be more interested in Restaraunt Management than the culinary part. The desert selection was not what it used to be. 3 of our party asked for one dish and then were told after waiting that it was no longer available. 1 of the main dished came out cold. They should have comped us for this dish. First time i remember more food left on plates than was eaten.
A great community asset..A great meal which aids and benefits the students..We are certain to return while spreading the word to family and friends .
food was both interesting and very tasty with just one observation. Each of the three courses (gnocci, mango salad, and bouillabaisse) was overly salted. I've eaten there before without the excess salt, and my dining companion did not notice extra salt on her different choices. I'll certainly continue to go there.
Until this experience, I have always been so impressed with the Hampton Winds. Their food is generally top tier and their service exceptional. While the service was slightly under expectations, the student server was obviously new and we had no issue with her learning on us. Our review of the food is mixed, with my date enjoying his three courses (except he felt the marinara for the calamari should have been spicier), mine were less than what I had hoped for. This was due mainly to poor descriptions on the menu and the fact that the menu was different than what was advertised on the website. The advertised menu had several selections that enticed me, the actual menu had few. I selected the cold spring rolls as my first course. Unfortunately, "cold" was not enough to inform me that it was also "raw". I enjoyed the taste, but I had been hoping for crispy outside and savory inside. Instead it was sort of a salad, which the wording of the menu failed to convey. The French Onion Soup, my second selected course was sweeter than Kool Aid, and when I said something, to their credit, they quickly offered me a replacement with another menu item. Unfortunately, there was little else that appealed, so I ended up with the beef pasty, which was good, but very bready, and I really wanted to watch my carb intake, but little on the menu fit in with a low carb diet. As for entrees, we both selected the Chciken Kiev, which neither of us would normally choose due to the breading, but again the other offerings were not anything that appealed. While my date enjoyed the entree, we both needed to add a lot of salt, I found it completely boring, something that you might expect as an airline meal, not from what should be the training ground of exceptional chefs. We will try again, and hopefully, this was simply because it was so early in the school year. I really hope they can keep their website updated in the future, so that expectations can meet with reality.
My family and I have been going to Hampton Winds for years. It’s always been our go to for a nice formal evening out, but over the last year or two it’s lost something. On this recent visit, we wanted to leave after 15 mins. The menu was not as varied and they didn’t have most of the items on the menu. There was no music playing which left the atmosphere silent at times. We had to request bread, when our appetizers arrived, we had to request drinks when the waitress forgot to bring them after 20 mins. The bread was hard and had no taste. The appetizers were bland and small portioned. As where the soups and salads. The entrees were good but by this time, we just wanted to leave. We asked for our desserts to go!
I realize Hampton Winds is a teaching restaurant and in their defense it was the last day of serving before a 3 week break, but it was still a bad experience for myself and the family. We’ve learned to not go to Hampton on the first and the last day of service.
I think, to improve...they need to bring back having low playing music, add table side cooking again, keep the kids in the back...or at least hire professionals to work with the kids in the front so things are not forgotten and service is flowing well, bring back a variety of menu options....guacamole and Brussel sprouts will not cut it for fine dinning! Make sure you have enough food for even the last day of service. The dessert cart being bought to the table with samples of the nights desserts was a treat and a great way to end the evening, bring that back!
I want to continue to support the school and the kids but I think I’ll let some time go by before I go back! A lot of changes need to be made!
I have been going to Hampton Winds since the early 2000's . I realize this is a student learning experience, however, I never had as poor service (Very Slow and Food was cold) and constant apologizing for the wait for every course. I am very glad we chose to dine alone rather than take guests as we were planning to do. The last time we visited was 2015 and the entire way the restaurant was run (From making the reservation to the service) was totally different. I did not enjoy the evening and will not be returning nor will I recommend it to any friends.
This was the first time I dined at Hampton Winds and I found the staff very friendly, the food was excellent and the entire experience was one I will remember. I look forward to coming back again
This was a fantastic experience. The service, the food, the abiance...Elton John music played softly in the background. I commend this program for opening to the community so that students can learn first hand what it is to run a restaurant. The menu was creative, the presentation superb, the service friendly and efficient.
