Hank's Pasta Bar
There were dehumidifiers or similar machines inside. Did not add to ambience. My waiter did the bare minimum and didn’t pay much attention to me. Food, however, was excellent.
I really enjoyed every detail about this restaurant from the staff to the cuisine. I definitely will be back! It was a pleasant experience.
Overall, the food was very good. Some of the best calamari in the area. The Cacio e Pepe was a little creamier than I would like, but it was still very good.
We love going to Hank's Pasta bar, though to be honest, while the servers were very helpful, felt drowned by how many times they came over to fill the water glasses when we asked for the bottle to stay on the table so we could do it ourselves.
Very surprised that it received 4.7/5 stars. Just an average experience and food
Great food and ambiance.. staff was attentive and made sure those with allergies in our party were well accommodated. Thanks Hank’s Pasta Bar :)
Absolutely incredible. Food came in a timely matter, they let me customize my entree with ease. Though it’s a fairly simple dish, the cacio e Pepe might’ve been the best one I’ve ever had. The lavender lemon anna cotta was also incredible
Our server was not on her game - we often had to call her over to our table, and she was at times a bit curt. We've been to Hank's many times and the food did not disappoint. We brought friends who have not been and were surprised by the lack of warmth from our server.
Server mumbled and didn’t know how to say some of the specialty words. Birthday was notes on reservation but no acknowledgement was made from any member of the team. We sat on the patio and no attempt was made to deter pests in any way which was slightly bothersome. Food was delicious as always. Will be back but definitely left a damper on the birthday night.
Our waiter Joewee (I think I spelled it right) was awesome. He was perfectly attentive and gave a great overview of the menu. I hope we have this gentleman the next time we dine there.
Hanks Pasta Bar always delivers - lots of great options on the menu and personable service. It was fantastic!
Food was amazing! Staff was very kind and the atmosphere was super chill. I’ll definitely go back!
The restaurant was very busy because this was a special event in Alexandria. So it was noisy, but the service and food were excellent. Will continue to recommend.
My friend and I met for lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty. The food was ok, the service was ok, although I had to get up from the table to get someone’s attention in order to get a coffee refill and our check. It was ok, but I don’t think I’ll be back soon. There are lots of choices in Alexandria.
Nice ambiance, although at times the noise level was very high (there at 6:30). Excellent service, attentive and tuned into the social engagement of their table. Food was good, but not to the level where I would say I must come here again and recommend it to all my friends.
Hank's is always wonderful! Great service, outstanding new chef doing great things.
We had crostinis with mousse, salads, lasagna, and bucatini. All was excellent.
Will be back again very soon!
Pleasant experience. Server was simple amazing and the food exceptional. Cant wait to come back
All aspects of our first visit here were great, but the sound level was distracting and detracted from the experience.
I was really excited to try Hank's as a serious pasta lover. I was super underwhelmed with the experience and unfortunately won't be returning. The air conditioning was out so it was about 80 degrees in the restaurant - that wasn't soo bad just slightly uncomfortable. Our waitress was able to snag us one of the last calamari appetizers available which was delicious but the main event - the pasta - was just not what I expected. I had a special buccatini dish and it wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't super flavorful. My husband and his dad got spaghetti and meatballs - the past was overcooked and again nothing exciting. We got drinks and a bottle of wine - all in all dinner cost us $180. I would have rather made pasta at home...and next time we will!
Great place. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for hanging with friends for a low key evening.
Overall the experience was good. The location was in a quiet part of old town with a lovely water view only blocks away. The decor was cool and the outdoor area looked nice as well.
We were seated next to a half wall and one of the servers kept leaning on it while we were eating. This was distracting as we were trying to eat. Our server also did not seem well versed in the menu and often had to ask others or relook at the menu for information. The meat and cheese plate was very good, so the bar was set high, however, we found the main dish to be under-seasoned. The drinks were well made and tasty. Nothing exciting about the meal, but good.
The service was great. We were celebrating an anniversary and they went out of their way to help us celebrate with dessert.
Great experience. Food was tasty & service attentive. We’ll be back 😊
Glad Chef Shannon is back in the area!!
It was my first time at the Pasta Bar, and my wife and I went for our anniversary. We sat outside, which was lovely, and our server was very attentive. The food was good (though I liked my wife's bucatini cacio e pepe was better than my veal and pork ravioli) and we had a very nice anniversary dinner. They have a very nice wine and beer list and I recommend them highly.
A neighborhood gem with plenty of seasonal cocktails and delicious surprises.
Food is always amazing here. There are always new specials but their classics are great too. I've enjoyed every it's I've tried - octopus and crostini appetisers are great! As is the malfade, gnocci, Bolognese, and ravoili. It's a bit pricey if you have some appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert, but I would say very worth it.
Fresh pasta and seafood in a casual setting. Excellent service.
The Food and Server was EXCELLENT !!!
Noise level was to high as it was difficult for our party of 4 to carry on a conversation.
They should install some acoustical tiles !
We choose to sit outside, on a very pleasant evening, we had the area to ourselves, making it very quiet, additional our server paid attention to us regularly.
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was just the right pace - we never felt rushed and never had to wait. We ordered a crostini sampler and it was great, and easy to share. The pasta was delicious. I would definitely return!
I sat outside which was quite pleasant. Although I was disappointed that they did not have the double melon soup advertised on the website menu, I found solace in the grilled octopus. It was the best i've had in the States -- and I eat it a lot! The meatballs were good. Spaghetti primavera could have used a little more asparagus and fewer tomatoes and DEFINITELY LESS GARLIC. My plate was rimmed with garlic slices I picked out of the dish. It overwhelmed the dish. Key Lime Pie was delicious. My server, Lisa, was attentive (except at the end) and did comp the meatballs due to the over-abundance of garlic in the pasta dish. So good customer service there. I'll go back for sure -- if for nothing else, to try that melon soup!!
Hank’s Pasta Bar is a hidden gem in North Old Town. Always a great time with excellent service and wonderful menu. Highly recommended.
Everything was delicious! Loved my spaghetti and meatballs. Had lots of vegetables in the sauce which have it a nice sweetness. The meatballs were very tender. My friend had the vegetable risotto and it was creamy and well seasoned. We also shared a fennel salad which was very refreshing. A great quite spot to catch up with friends.
We LOVE your pasta, but bring back the family menu!!!!
All four of us enjoyed our meal. I had the linguine with clams which was delicious. Service is always great. Music was a little loud for a Sunday evening.
This small local delight offers up the freshest and most delicious meals in old town! Ask for Lisa as your server she’s the best!
We always have a delectable meal at Hank’s pasta bar. One of us had the bolognese fettuccine and the other mushroom soup (heavenly) and burratta salad. Beautiful atmosphere, exquisite service—it was a trip to Italy!.
Great place and food. Server was just a little too attentive and kept trying to up sell us additional drinks.
