Walk down a generic alley way and you will notice the neon sign. Upon entering you are greeted by friendly staff. The dining areas are separated into different “rooms” and include an outdoor heated patio. Our room was a cozy setting with burlap textured wallpaper and wood trim beams. A small propane fireplace anchored the room. Our server was very cordial and helpful. Food was well prepared and tasty. It was an elegant way to brunch. A quiet enclave off of the busy Harvard Square.

Everything from the food to the friendliness to just the space in general was fantastic!!! Brunch was delicious with fun seasonal specials that if I wasn’t going to try on wedding dresses afterwards I would have certainly indulged in!! Look forward to going back and trying dinner at some point!!

i always give harvest 5 stars because it's always great. my favorite restaurant in harvard square for over 30 years. this time, however, the service was a bit discombobulated. my party changed from 6 to 5, they changed the table, but then i had to wait around and finally ask again about being seated (i had said i got there before the others because i wanted to order the wine and shared plates so my guests wouldn't have to wait while i made decisions). the somm was great -- i had made a couple of choices for both red and white, and she helped me make excellent decisions, and even made me my favorite and unusual cocktail herself, and very well. the waiter was fine, always a nice guy, but the servers mixed things up a couple of times, getting dishes mixed up among guests, but worst when they came with the main course before the first course had been cleared, so our meals had to wait around. this is all unusual in my experience, but it did detract. and the strip steak, in its current iteration with ratatouille, isn't nearly as good as the earlier one that was served with wonderful potatoes and wide rings of onion with a great sauce in them. of course, this will not keep me from going back soon! but i don't think i'll order the steak again. the lobster bisque, however, was great.

I am a long time diner at the Harvest and have liked the jump up in culinary quality following Tyler's assumption of le toque blanche. But Sunday evening (November 3) was a disappointment—especially since four weeks prior we had had a superb meal. Why: (1) 100 reservations that night maybe put undue pressure on the kitchen; (2) steak with Boardelaise was very good as usual but the ratatouille was bland and mushy; (3) the fish dish was extremely sparse but well cooked and sauced, but again the veggies were sub-par and the dish was overpriced for what we got; (4) the wait staff did their best to be attentive, but our nice server disappeared and was replaced by basically buss-boys; (5) we lost patience so didn't try the usually wonderful deserts. Overall, the farm fresh was not up to the principal recipes. The meal never came together. But the maitre d' was very nice at the greeting. Net, net, expensive for an OK meal.

We have been going to the Harvest every decade or so. We've changed. It's changed. It is still a quiet, friendly and pleasant place, somewhat of an oasis off Harvard Square. The lunch menu seems a bit unambitious. Maybe they are giving the public what it wants. Perhaps it is nostalgia, but I recall a more intriguing place in the past. Probably dinner would be a fairer test. That ambitious wine list ought to go with something. We will give it another try, but there are more interesting options in Cambridge.

Soups as starters were good.
Main courses - a grain salad and braised beef tacos weren’t great. The grain dish was bland, as were the tacos. Tacos were goopy and runny.
Harvest is normally excellent its just this time it clearly emphasized style over substance. A real disappointment for a $70 lunch. Got that high, in part, because they sneak in a $9 charge for a bottle of Pelligrino. Grrrr.....

As always, the food was absolutely wonderful -- a redfish preparation was top-notch. We arrived for an 8:30 reservation, however, and waited for a long time before a waiter arrived to take drink orders -- and we took advantage of his arrival to put in our order, as we were afraid we might not see him again! We wanted to have a conversation with our friend, which even at close quarters was nearly impossible because of the noise. So go for the food, but don't even think about having a relaxed conversation.

Harvest is an institution in my home town, so I’m loath to criticize. But tonight’s dinner was a nightmare. And that’s a shame because I’d been looking forward to it for weeks.
The server was hapless. It took 40 minutes to get to order my first cocktail — longer for it to arrive.
The menu was a mess — porchetta with mole? A savory apple pie as a side dish? Corn panna cotta served cold with a strange (Frosted Flakes?) crumble on top? (It was like a yogurt parfait, only sweeter) We had a hard time piecing together a meal.
And then the service got worse — at no point even offering wine, stacking dirty dishes on her cocktail tray so even the busboy looked on in horror. Maybe her section was overcrowded but the rest of the restaurant was empty. What?!
We’ll go back, of course, because it’s always been reliable — until tonight. But boy, I hope they rediscover their roots — really seasonal New England fare without odd flavor combinations (roasted carrots with harissa and cilantro would have paired with exactly nothing on the menu). And I hope the service gets better.

Absolutely a wonderful dining experience. First time visiting the area and restaurant. Couldn't have been more happy with our selection of food choices. The host was pleasant upon arriving which lead to our waiter being even more friendly and attentive. The cinnamon roll although a tad bit overcooked and the frosting melting off the warm gooey bun, it was a nice treat. The apple fritters I will be talking about for ages. The texture and the apple butter underneath was heavenly. Would go back just for the fritters. The pancakes are out of this world. The fluffy texture and the toppings - apple, bacon, and syrup were such a decadent addition. I will make sure anytime I am visiting the Boston/Cambridge area I stop here. Great experience all around. The Chef is trying hard to be creative but some of the dishes simply don’t work, or have elements that just don’t belong on the plate together, or are covered with an ill judged sauce that just ruins the meat or fish.

Harvest is a classic, especially precious in a rapidly changing Harvard Sq. It's a special occasion restaurant, with prices to match. Still, he food is inventive without being silly, always delicious -- every dish complex but somehow balanced. Even the sides (those harissa carrots!) are divine. Noise level is reasonable, helping the overall conviviality. For me, it is far better to patronize this reliable old friend than the latest trendy new thing.

A disappointing dinner at Harvest. The food was acceptable -- well-prepared though on the whole, far too bland and conservative. Dessert was the highlight. But we were plagued by fruit flies in the dining room, and the waiter basically laughed it off rather than show any concern for our dinner experience being so horribly affected by having to wave away bugs literally the entire meal. Definitely some big problems with management happening here.

Harvest is my new favorite restaurant! My husband and I loved this place. Our table was out on the patio. The heaters where great, they kept us warm and comfortable. Our waiter Matthew was superb!
