Quick and efficient service

My wife and I have been to The Old Castle many times and have yet to have a bad experience, My wife is wheat & gluten intolerant and yet the staff are always as helpful as possible each and every time we dine there. So ten out of ten

They didn't have our booking in their system which caused issues due to it being a busy Mother's Day. Open Table had sent me an email confirmation. They made me feel like it was my fault and I was a burden to them. This was difficult as it is likely to be the last Mothers Day with my mum who has cancer so we were already quite emotional.

When I said I had booked a table for 4 the woman at the desk said "but there is 5 of you" I apologised on behalf of my 8 month old son who I didn't know I should have booked a place for. She replied with "so there is 5, that makes it difficult." I appreciate 8 should book for all people but the attitude was ridiculously poor.

I felt embarrassed to be such a burden to them, having to bend over backwards to accommodate Mt booking and provide a child seat. Will never go there again, not even under duress. A sensitive mothers day ruined and a shame that Open Table support this restaurant after all of the positive bookings I have made in the past.

I hope this was useful to you, I don't usually complain, but I shall certainly remember that meal as the worst meal experience of my life.

Excellent meal. Great value and friendly service. Warm and cosy room felt very welcome

Enjoyed the meal ,at a very good price,child friendly as we had our granddaughter. Having been able to reserve table ,an added bonus.

Overall a thoroughly pleasant venue, Staff excellent, food was good.
