The service was great and the food delicious.
Everything is good, you really can’t go wrong!
Their Tiramisu is delicious and a must order!
great as always. love barbs food.
This was the first time time we have been. There was a party in the room next door...seemed short staffed but the owner couldn’t have been nicer.
Consistently, excellent food.
The best carbonara I ever had
I brought my dear friends from out of town for a birthday celebration and let tell you, they were blown away. The food was spectacular, and the service was the best I had so far. Our server Robert was very attentive
Can't wait to go back
The three of us got together for a friend’s birthday lunch. We had a reservation, but no one asked us our name. The host was also the only waiter for the downstairs and upstairs portions of the restaurant. We were led upstairs and forgotten about for a bit of time. There was a big party in the adjacent room and there was one other waitress in there. Tables and chairs were shaky and the place didn’t feel like a restaurant, more like a deli. Menu was a deli menu too. Overall, nothing to write home about, food was okay, decor was less than stellar, overall experience wasn’t what we expected from the photos. It was more like a let’s stop and grab a bite kind of place, versus a proper restaurant.
Made reservations for a party of 9 and they accommodated us with a private room, which was great for our group! Food was delicious , we had great service and our waiter Brendan did a great job at tending to our needs! When in the Santa Monica area again, will definitely come here again!
Terrible experience at Heroic, we went for a girls night out on Friday night it was just 3 of us. First of all the waiter was super awkward, he didn't seem to know what anything was on the menu, and when we asked him about their wines he again just pointed to something on the menu after what felt like 5 mins of him trying to find the words to say anything. The food came and had zero seasoning, we had 2 pasta dishes and 1 main. We had ordered the veal and it was probably the most disappointing dish we ordered, the meat tasted very weird and fat sat on top of it giving it a mushy flavor. The wine was good but the rose my friend ordered was the opposite of what she asked for.
Never again complete waste of money.
Amazing experience. Best restaurant in Santa Monica!!
Great Italian food. Portions are on the smaller side, so you definitely need an appetizer to fill up. We had 4 different entrees, black code, black ink pasta, pasta carbonara and TOURNEDOS ROSSINI. Liked all of them except for carbonara. That was too salty for our taste. The two appetizers INSALATA DI GRANCHIO and octopus were really good. PANNA COTTA and TIRAMISU were excellent too.
amazing dinner from barbara! thanks!
Great atmosphere and a good time. Food was good. Wine was great. Try the almond milk flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Carbonara was good: great bacon element and good pasta. I love grilled octopus and theirs was well made: perfectly grilled and tender. It was a real fun and enjoyable dining experience. I’d recommend going.
Really good food, good service, quaint restaurant. Great for our girls night out!
Brought some friends in who have never been before and they were all wowed! Every dish was cooked to perfection, which can sometimes be a tough thing to accomplish for one chef and a small kitchen on a very busy night, but these guys didn't disappoint. And made some new fans in the process! Staff was super accommodating for our ever-growing party and did everything they could to make the night memorable for us all.
Kristi: Thank you for your kind words. You and your lovely friends are aways welcome. Cheers! Jeffrey
Great sandwich place for lunch but not a good dinner spot. And if you don’t want the door opening and a breeze coming in every few minutes be sure to request to be in the back dining room. The sandwiches are great but the rest of the menu is mediorce at best
Sorry that you did not enjoy the food...there is truth to the windy door tho... Jeffrey
In one word about Chef Barbara “AMAZING”
The food “INCREDIBLE”
Our server Alex “THE BEST”
Our Experience “A TRIP TO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FIVE STAR DINING”
Alison: Wow! Thank you so much...we are all so glad you had such a good time. Cheers! Jeffrey
Great wines, great service, great food
Brand new, so noticeable that they are dialing in staffing and waiting but food was absolutely incredible. Fairly expensive.
Amazing food service and wine list!
Cannot say what a positive experience this visit was to all in our party. Food was great tasting, appetizing appearance and enjoyable. When we arrived was told that short staffed but Jeffery and staff worked hard to overcome any issues and more than made up for any shortcomings. Would recommend for any occasion. Space is appealing and vide is right. Looking forward to return.
The happy hour menu is ridiculous. It seems to be a deal, or at least reasonable, until you get the dish and it’s ONE scallop for $12 or ONE ARANCINI for $9... what?!? And on the normal menu the arancini is $12 or $13 and I hope it is bigger than the happy hour menu, or else that would be INSANE. In which case, I wish we knew to get the non happy hour version. The food was good, but it ended up being extremely pricey. Sad. It could have been great. Also, waitress was brand new and basically knew nothing. Not her fault I guess but it was strange.
Yummy food reasonably sized portions. Loud ambience
The venue was wonderful and food was delicious. Not a place you’d go to if you’re trying to have a conversation or a quiet
The food portions were small and we found ourselves less then satisfied after sharing 9 dishes for a group of 4.
First time there. Loved the space. Great wine selection (that wasn’t priced up by 50%!). Our waiter was very attentive and gave solid recommendations. My husband had the bra and I had the spaghetti bucatini - both cooked perfectly. I hope this spot sticks around - I feel like it’s a bit of a undiscovered gem...
Fantastic under the radar place for Italian gourmet food
This was the worst service I’ve had in LA. 6 people, we ordered two gnudi for appetizers. One came out and it was tiny and $16. The other came 10 minutes later. This theme continued throughout our whole meal. We ordered one main course for each person. One dish came. 12 minutes later, a second dish came. Another 10 minutes later, a third dish came. Dish number four, another 10 minutes later. Dishes five and six came when everyone else was long finished. Wait staff seemed to be hiding because they knew things went wrong. We were never offered dessert but thankfully we had chocolate on us.
As for the food? It was fine. I might have said good if it didn’t become cold in the hopes that our friends would get food soon after each dish came.
This was a total shutdown of restaurant functionality. I won’t be back even for their pretty ok lunch sandwiches and really delicious happy hour.
Hidden gem! Great food and service. It’s just a matter of time until it’s tough to get in here. No ‘scene’ but great food and service. Great decor too.
Came in for a Friday night reservation. Let me start with this place is gorgeous. We were seated in the dining room with this beautiful hanging garden and mural of a female gladiator. I am a huge wine aficionado and the list didn't disappoint. One thing they do differently is they have a rotating reserve list of older more eclectic Italian and California wines. We opted for a 2010 Brunello that was fantastic. We started our dinner with Nonna's Gnudi, light fluffy and divinely delicious. I had the Carbonara and my wife is an uni fanatic had the Santa Barbara, and I have never had a dish like this, it was unreal. They use this "Blue Ocean" pasta that when combined with the Spot Prawns, caviar and uni is on another level than any other pasta in Los Angeles. For dinner we shared the Branzino and Tagliata, both of which were cooked to perfection. I have to say the portions are not huge so we had plenty of room for dessert. Service was friendly and efficient and the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the food and the wines. This is our new go to for Italian in Los Angeles. They also had a great Happy Hour menu, which we may come back earlier on our next visit to check out.
I am a Santa Monica resident and was super excited to try Heroic. I was very disappointed. I arrived at 1:28pm for a 1:30pm reservation and was told I was late but “I guess we can still seat you” I showed the reservation confirmation on my phone to show I was actually on time- didn’t receive an apology for the confusion. I brushed this incident off and was still excited to try the food and wine.
My friend and I then we’re told to “just go up stairs and find a seat.” The only tables available still have previous customers food on them. I was a little confused by the lack of service when they restaurant was fairly empty.
After about 20mins we ordered drinks and a little starter (house cooked kettle chips) the drinks were good but the chips had no flavor. We sat for another 30+ minutes without anyone returning to take our order. My friend and I gathered our stuff and searched for someone at the front just to create a bill for us to pay and leave.
Horrible service. I cannot comment on the food because we weren’t able to order it to try it. Very, very disappointed. I will not recommend Heroic Wine Bar to anyone.
Love the staff at Heroic Wine Bar!! Vincent, Antonio are the best and make it a no brainer to come back and visit. Great happy hour menu !
Love the wine list and Happy Hour menu.. get the scallops!
If you need s great sandwich come for lunch, the Batista and OMG Are my favorite
Love Heroic! The food is always delicious and wine is too!
Fabulous food. Great wine selection. Beautiful atmosphere.
High quality food, friendly staff, and some good value on the wine list. Dined there twice during our stay in Santa Monica.
I’ve had the same type of food that tasted better and that was less expensive
Heroic has always been on point with their food and service! We love going!!
Everyone and everything was delightful! Food is fantastic, wine selections were sooooo yummy it made it difficult to choose so we had many. Food was scrumptious, the portions are small - be prepared. Extra shout out to Alex the charming waiter and his helper server - we were in a private upstairs room yet they were spot on attentive! Truly made my birthday extra special. I will be back and we all will be back as a family and with friends.
Not what expected. Food was not good. But wine was excellent
