It was a beautiful summer day to eat on their patio. It was not crowded and We felt safe. We had great service and the food was very good. There was a large selection of entries on the menu to pick from.
The food was excellent as always. But what stands out about this place is the building and the ambiance. Waterfalls. Fireplaces. Secluded quiet areas to dine. And the wait staff is very attentive. Old-school dining in an upscale modern version of the country club. Very nice.
Went to the Sunday Brunch buffet. Excellent selection and food.
I prefer to patronize businesses that are taking more COVID precautions (staff wearing masks, tables spaced out to 6 feet+, etc) I will not return for a while as these are not in place here.
Food and service great- price reasonable. What more do you need?
We stopped going to Hi-Way Harry's two years ago after several extremely poor dinner meals compounded by indifferent service. We wanted to support our local businesses and gave them a second chance last week. Outstanding! What a remarkable turn-around. The artichoke/chip appetizer was fabulous and our entrees were superb. Our waitress was friendly, informative and prompt. If you were like us and gave up on this restaurant, you owe it yourself to give them another try. Highly recommend.
Breakfast burrito was awesome!
We had an early lunch with friends. The food was pretty good. The service was excellent. Not obtrusive but always ready to refill. Wife had Cajun chicken and other than the chicken being a bit overdone and dry, it was tasty. I had steak.
We had a wonderful meal and no hurrying us along. The soup, corned beef and sauerkraut, was too salty, but everything else was delicious.
Service was spotty and not accurate. Food was luke warm. Salads and soups were served only minutes before entrees. Errors in order caused us to not be able to eat as a group.
There was a nice selection but was out of item, not well stocked with fresh items.
The restaurant staff and management was very attentive. The food was good. They had a special menu for Valentine's Day, which was limited. I would have preferred the regular offerings.
The service was slow and the dinner was warm at best as if it had been sitting too long before being served. We did not realized we should have received bread until we saw other tables receive bread. The waitress apologized and offered to wrap one to go.
Great food. Great experience. Worth the drive.
Big positive changes in the quality of the food and the professionalism of the wait staff
The dinner & evening were nice. We met friends there. The only issue was that the server was not very attentive. We sat with empty water glasses & coffee cups for quite a while.
Made a reservation and were seated right on time for Sunday brunch. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Good selection of food items and great food.
The interior is showing its age. The menus have been used for a long time. Had to exchange silverware twice because it was dirty. That said the food was all good. It just seems like the whole staff was on autopilot and the owner is just riding out the investment.
Great food at reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
This place is excellent. It was our first time and it exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, food and service were all top-notch. It was a wonderful experience at a very reasonable price. Hi-Way Harry’s is highly recommended by us. We are already thinking about planning our next meal there.
Had a drink at the bar while waiting for the rest of the party to show and bartenders were personable and friendly! Great mix of giving us our space to chat and catch up while offering great recommendations.
Upon sitting down our waiter said the wait would be longer since he was waiting on a larger table, not a good start. Got our wine quickly but our water was forgotten and our bread was also forgotten, while the table close to us who got seated after had bread and water and salad before us. Then when we got our soup an salad finally I will say my soup was very good but my wife’s salad was lettuce and croutons and when asking the waiter he just answered would you believe it they ran out of cucumber tomatoes end everything else except the lettuce and croutons. No would you like something else instead.
Finally after flagging our waiter down and he apologized for the wait I ordered a beer and he finally brought out our water and bread and our meals arrived at the same time. My prime rib was actually very tasty and good but my wife’s fillet although medium rare was more blackened on the outside and was just lacking in flavor. We both ordered mashed potatoes and where given the option of plain or with garlic and we both ordered plain and they came with garlic. At this point we just finished up and asked for the bill. The total came to right around $100 and we did still tip 15% but definitely was not worth that. We have had better service and food at Texas Road house for approximately half the cost. The Atmosphere by the fireplaces was excellent and noise level was not an issue at all. So all in all not 100% sure if our waiter was just to busy waiting on the bigger table and we were fill ins but people in different sections got drinks, water, bread and meals faster than we did and got seated after. The table next to us also had just as long of a wait for everything followed by numerous apologies by the same waiter.
Immediately upon entering the door we were greeted by a very rude server & had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to be seated even though we had a reservation. The food was sub-par. We went for the Sunday Brunch & nothing was the proper temperature. The young kid running the omelet station was texting at his station with no way to wash his hands. The waitress was WONDERFUL. So attentive & friendly & helpful. But that couldn’t make up for the sub-par food.
We arrived about 10 minutes early and were able to be seated right away. The waiter took our drink order promptly, but took quite a while to return with them. We ordered a spinach artichoke dip appetizer that was good. We both had prime rib, medium. The prime looked good, but was not tender and was quite stringy. The waiter disappeared for long periods and seemed somewhat overwhelmed when he returned. Had to wait a long time to get the bill, and for change. We tipped well, but probably shouldn't have. The place was quite noisy, even though we couldn't see many other customers from where we were seated. We were underwhelmed.
Waiter was very friendly and helpful when explaining the menu. The ambiance was beautiful and made you feel like you were in a special place!
Wonderful service and great food. The bartenders were kind and knowledgeable. This was our first time there- we will definitely be back! Loved it.
Service was a bit slow. We made an early reservation to avoid that, but...
Food was very good as well as the service.
It was so dark it seemed like you were trying to hide something.
High priced entrees that had processed food flavor. Strange interior, dark, loud and dirty. Shoes stuck to carpets.
We have been to Highway Harry’s in the past, and it has always been good. My son asked to go there over the weekend for his birthday, because he wanted their ribs. Our waitress came over and told us they were out of ribs, 3 other entrees, and baked potatoes. They have a very limited menu, so that was disappointing. We told her we came specifically for the ribs because it was a special occasion. She offered no apology , just said they were busy and the kitchen planned poorly. We ordered an appetizer which was very good. My sons soup was also very good. And then everything took a nose dive. Our waitress became inattentive, and you could tell her only goal was to go home. The restaurant was not busy, yet we waited almost 1 hour for our entrees to come. All of our entrees came cold.....not even slightly warm. Our waitress asked how our food was, and I said everything was cold. SHE WALKED AWAY! She did not even say one word to us!! Later she came to clear our plates. She asked if my husband was done with his because he left a large portion of meat in his plate. He said yes, and told her what he left had so much grizzle in it that he could not bite through it. Again, SHE SAID NOTHING AND WALKED AWAY! Highway Harry’s has nice desserts. They always offer dessert and I believe they bring over a dessert cart. Despite this being a special occasion, which they were aware of when I made the reservation, no dessert was offered. Instead, our waitress personally started turning off the smaller lights in our section. We had a 7 PM reservation. The restaurant closes at 8 PM. There were still patrons in the restaurant. Perhaps we would have been out by 8 PM if we hadn’t waited for our cold entrees for 1 hour. As it was, we ate quickly and I think we were out the door around 8:30 PM. A VERY DISAPPOINTING EVENING, MEAL AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!! One our birthday person will never forget, though! Our waitress definitely helped create a lasting memory🤭😬😳😢
We met another couple for lunch and had an excellent meal. Our server was so nice, never broke into our conversations, but somehow managed to bring us everything we ordered and keep our beverages full.
There's no way I'd recommend Hi-Way Harry's to anyone. There were four people in our party. three of us had the frence onion soup. It was so salty there was no way any of us could eat it. I like some salt on my food but the soup was awful. when they brought out a different soup that too was salty. I didnt eat it. My entree was the chicken Alfredo. I really enjoy meat. There was hardly any chicken in the meal. Thee were only three pieces and they were not larger than a nickel and I kid you not. Easily the worst meal I've ever had. We were laughing at the table and I never said anything to the waiter about it. I didn't want to complain about anything else. Very rarely do I ever complain about a meal when I go out but there's a reason I'm writing this. It really was very very poor. We'll never be back. thee were also fruit flies flying around. Also saw a huge bug crawling on the ground. Won't say any more. Rich N
Started out with food encrusted knife wrapped in cloth napkin. Service was okay but poor waitpeople were rushing back and forth down narrow aisles with beverages.. Food was okay but nothing special. Most of the food was lukewarm, broasted chicken was the best part. Desserts were limited to various cheesecakes but cream puffs were good. Overall average brunch.
The food was good; the server was not very knowledgeable about the menu. She also got the wines mixed up. Not as good of an experience as I have had in the past.
Everything was very nice. The quesadilla appetizer was delicious. My fish sandwich did not have enough fish in it given the size of the bun but it was still good. Service was very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Service was slow and poor. Our server sat in a different room on her phone and we waited for our bill. Finally we told her we were ready. In the future we will not be dining there. This was our second slow experience.
Only complaint, please check you plates before you put them out. Many of them were dirty.
Our waitress had been there for 2 weeks and clearly needed a lot more training, we never even knew we were supposed to get bread and until we saw the table across the way get it first, and by this time we were already halfway through our entree. The food overall is slightly above-average, the French onion soup was almost all croutons I've never seen so many croutons in French onion soup. If you would take them all out there would have been maybe a quarter inch of soup in the bottom. the two shrimp that we got for $6 added to each one of our steaks were superb. We had two fried and two broiled, definitely the highlight of the meal.
Worst service ever took over an hour and a 1/2 to get our food was never offered water or told the specials. Got wrong type of fries and sandwich was cold.
Seems like frozen mixed veggies - rubbery
1/2 the walleye was over spiced and the other half had no spice
The mushroom risotto was more soup vs risotto
The salad was good, as was the spinach artichoke dip.
