The service and food was great! The building and ambience is great, lovely high ceilings and plants everywhere. Will be back again, would recommend :)

Horribly little quantity. We ended up spending 60 $ but were super hungry as quantity was that of baby food.

The interior is nice yet the staff are selective with whom to give their smiles and customer service to. The food is presentable and okay but nothing sets apart from other cafe (tbh). Well, I wanna commend that the egg was properly cooked, but we just hated the fact that we were seated at a bar area when there’s few tables available until we leave. We also booked yet it’s not on their system but I got a confirmation email and text. Idk why that happened. Overall it was just okay.

Friendly staff, beautiful building and delicious food and drink

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is lovely, preferred a peeled avo on the side, not having to peel it myself. Coffee is great. Service is quick.
To be asked if you want to leave a tip was awkward when paying the bill. The service is quick friendly and perfect well worth paying a tip, but it was just awkward being asked if I wanted to pay extra when the price was fair.

I had the lamb fry-up and didn’t really enjoy it. The sourdough was so hard that I couldn’t even cut through it or chew it properly. The lamb mince was very bland and had a raw meat flavour. Overall, the dish was not enjoyable especially given it was quite expensive. However, the actual restaurant is beautiful with a lovely ambiance and wonderful wait-staff. If I was to return, I would definitely order something else.

Good vibes, good energy, handsome wait staff, tolerant wait staff, flexible in tricky times. Serves champagne at 10am.

If you like upbeat food which is not to expensive but slightly complicated looking this is the place for you.

We arrived at Higher Ground 5 minutes before our booking to find the restaurant closed. A very apologetic cleaner advised us the restaurant closed early for New Year’s Eve. We made our reservation on 12 Dec 2020, and responded in the affirmative to an email received on 30 Dec 2020 asking us to confirm. Unimpressed. Had travelled 130km. Was a challenge finding somewhere else for dinner. Took the shine off New Year’s Eve.

I try to return to this place every time I am in Melbourne. The food and coffee are excellent. It is a great atmosphere and their poached eggs are always perfectly cooked.

Service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for our reserved table. Booking was for 3 and we were given a table for 2. When we were finally served at table to order a few of the dishes we chose were sold out. Food took forever, lucky we weren’t upheld to our 1.25 hour time slot. By the time we had finished/ served to order dessert we were told the kitchen was closed. Final straw was not being able to split the bill. Will not be going back and will avoid other venues owned by the group following this experience.

Good quality food and coffee. Single dinners are still being forced to sit at the bar. I never go here if I'm on my own. Music too loud for breakfast. Service good but not like it was when first opened.

The gnocchi is delicious with lovely lemon overtones.

Birthday brunch

Had to ask for everything, water, menus etc. no music, no vibe, average food for the price. Only plus is the ceiling

Food was delicious and venue is spectacular. Music was very loud though and very difficult to have a conversation. Short walk from Southern Cross station.

Higher Ground will always be my favourite brunch spot. Excellent food, coffee and staff. Overall a perfect food destination.

We were given a odd table and space due to busy day and food was just okay.

The place is really comfortable and the distance between tables was following the protocols.

Breakfast was delicious just a little bit overpriced, I live around Toorak, frequently eating around South Melbourne, Chapel, City, Botanical Garden, Richmond, and the brunch prices are more competitive.

But this place is lovely and the staff, so keep the good work! :)

I came with my son as a date to celebrate our joint birthday. The staff was upbeat and friendly. Meal was delicious, thank you!

I stumbled across Higher Ground by shear luck and chance. So happy I did. I have been back every day since for breakfast before work and lunch. Yet to try it for dinner.

food is good，but we went there like 12pm，almost finished like 1：19pm, and me and my bestie was been told that she really need this table by the staff who wearing green shirt on the top and glass,blond curly haired. then we had to leave!!which really rude，when i booked this place no-one told me that we had to finish this lunch in one hour. Made me uncomfortable,others all good

Excellent food with a real flair for combining flavours and textures. Great waiting staff who really know their menu. I've dined their twice in the last week and would really recommend the mains and drinks. Lovely atmosphere too, under a huge cathedral ceiling.
