Hooked is one of those places you go to when you're craving fried seafood. I had a platter with fried flounder, shrimp and oysters. The breading was crisp and a great flavor. The flounder was outstanding. An appetizer of oysters bienville wasn't quite as spectacular. Cole slaw was fresh. Good choice for someone looking for a laid back, unpretentious place with good food and bevs. Get a seat by the window if possible to people watch on Market Street.
Our party of 4 adults and 2 children had a wonderful dinner at Hooked. Celia provided attentive service, and our courses arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. Everyone left full and happy. We will be back!
We had a wonderful experience at Hooked! They were terribly busy, and our food took a while to get out, but they made sure we had everything we needed and the food was DELICIOUS! We will definitely come back!
Moderately priced and food was decent.
Was so good! Grouper filet was a little small, but other than that, great apps, great sides and entree plates! Will definitely be going back!
Our experience was fantastic. The food was incredible, and service was outstanding. We will definitely be going back again. If you are looking for a great, reasonably priced restaurant in Charleston. Hooked is the place to go.
Great experience at Hooked for Valentines. Everyone from the host to the servers were super friendly and seemed to be enjoying their work. Food was delicious. We enjoyed the flounder, shrimp & scallop wontons with a bite of ginger. The flounder was cooked perfectly with a nice sauce and capers. Be sure to try the pimento cheese grits. They’re a nice take on boring ole cheddar grits. Key Lime pie rounded out the meal with a zing.
Freddie was our server and he was terrific. Very personable, was able to offer culinary commentary for us in the meal, and gave us some visitors recommendations to boot. Fun evening in a fun atmosphere with delicious food. Reservations suggested!
Valentines dinner at Hooked was great. Presentation was fantastic and food was good. Service was fantastic and all the staff seemed liked they enjoyed their job. Grouper I had seemed slightly over cooked but I would go back and give a this restaurant a second chance for sure.
The whole experience was phenomenal. The only thing I had a issue with is the food to plate ratio. They had a big plate but little food. The food was great.
Spur of the moment, trip to Charleston for Valentines Evening.
This restaurant was one of the few with last minute reservations.
We were more than pleased!
Very Good food, taste and presentation!
Excellent service, we think our service was named Sally or maybe Sara...
She was a day time server at hooked and also workers at another restaurant part time.
She was attentive, helpful and fun!
She helped make our last minute valentines celebration memorable 💝
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Would do it again!
It was a great dinner! Very well ran for a busy holiday evening.
This was our 1st visit to Hooked. It was an upgrade from the previous venue in terms of food & service. We’ll definitely be back.
Valentines lunch with my wife
Great food - brittle bowl is fantastic dessert to top off a great meal! Service and atmosphere great too!
First time in Charleston, so had lunch with my sister and a friend who lives in SC. My sister and I were on a cruise ship. The lunch was fine, the restaurant was in the center of stuff and close to the ship. I understand it was under new management, but I think this new staff were fine--attentive, the food was good and they were not rushing us for the table.
Great night out with friends, perfect place to visit and enjoy a nice seafood dinner with a city market view. Staff are very nice, welcoming and prompt. We are local and all agree we would go back. Recommend the swordfish & fried green tomatoes!
It's been open less than a year and has a sleek but regional design, nice music but muted lighting.
The staff is young and friendly but very committed to good service and energetic. The price point is below comparable to more famous restaurants in the French quarter but the quality is wonderful.
I had the chicken livers as an appetizer and they were crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth juicy and yielding. My partner loved her crab fritters and reminded us Baltimore "crab fluff." Very airy and light with soft accompanying dips. For entrees, we both chose the grilled platter with shrimp, grouper, and terrific scallops (done as they should be.) The succotash was to me unique and non-traditional, my red rice awesome.
We appreciated the manager coming out and asking every table how everything was and our conclusion was that this restaurant deserves much more attention in the coming months in years as it is already well on the road to being a superior, reasonable, and genuine Charleston restaurant.
An offbeat but wise choice for anyone looking for something classic but new.
Took them awhile to get us our main course but once it was delivered it was delicious
We enjoyed our meal very much. It was restaurant week so we ordered from that menu. I had grouper. It was good but it was pan fried a little too long so the coating was almost burned. However the grouper itself was moist. Other than that everything was delicious.
Good casual seafood. Treated well
Great service and a laid back casual atmosphere!
New Year’s Eve
The three people I was with are seafood and all said it was amazing. I have the filet mignon and asked for it medium rare and it came out medium well. I was disappointed with that. Our waiter was extremely nice and attentive.
Overall it was a good experience. The waitress did a great job keeping our drinks filled and updated on the one hour kitchen delay. Will try again in the coming weeks.
Great food and excellent service. Fish was fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed Hooked.
Great low key environment
The newly renovated interior is very nice!
Loved the wait staff and vibe !
Great service, food and ambiance!! Felt like a private dining experience!!
Very surprised actually so good. Just happened to try Hooked. I think some embellishments to match Hooked theme would push it up even
More( aquarium, blue lighting throughout ( have nice blue lights at bar). I’ll definitely return.
Everything we tried at Hooked was delicious. We had the she crab soup, fried green tomatoes, and the grilled market platter which came with grouper, shrimp and scallops. The seafood was fresh and expertly done - I can't imagine better! The sides of succotash and grilled asparagus were wonderful as well!
Met here to catch up with some old friends. The service was okay, not over the top good but wasn't bad either, but my steak came out over cooked. Which is fine, it happens but by the time I got another cut of meat (cooked perfectly the second time) everyone else was fone eating their entrees and had moved on to dessert...
Great seafood and service. It was very quiet although it was crowed.
The key lime pie was awesome.
Good food. Nice atmosphere
Thanksgiving Day, my wife and I made a reservation for dinner. We were seated in an open air seating area next to the market street. It was very noisy and distracting. Afternoon sun was also in our face and there were no provisions to lower a blind of any kind to block the direct sun rays not only for our table but many others.
We ordered she crab soup. Waitress serving spilled some on my dress shirt in the process of putting it in my bowl.
Regular waitress was slow and pushy. No sooner had we ordered the she soup, she was back for our many entree.
My wife had a glass of white wine...worse she had ever tasted. A second round requested two Fatty IPAs. They brought out another glass of white wine which we turned down and shared the final glass of IPA.
Food was ok at best. My scallops were over cooked and grits quickly cool down because of the wind blowing in through the open window. My wife order shrimp, side of corn medley. Shrimp were small and corn medley cold and unbeatable.
We would not return to Hook and highly discourage others to attend as well. Worse $100 meal we’ve ever eaten!!
Rated 2 star out of five.
Blue light should not be used around food made the food look more disgusting then it tasted.
Nice new restaurant nice ambiance
It’s was a Late Tuesday night, freezing and raining out so we were one of the only tables. There was still live music and the staff was very attentive and nice. Food was delicious, especially the Brussel sprouts
My husband and I try to experience a different resturant in Charleston at least once a month. This was a horrible choice! The appetizers were good. Bar had a limited menu, and someone who could not make a mixed drink for anything. The main course came out- Grouper for me- luke warm and very bland, not much flavor at all. My husband ordered the Whole red snapper. First one came out so burnt, the fish was dry and hard to pull off to eat. The second was still raw on the inside. Horrible. So many other better options in Charleston.... Skip this one!!
