Great ambiance, live music and kids food and well adults for that matter
Dinner with friends. Food was excellent. Live music was nice. Service was exceptional. Will definitely return.
A lovely location but overpriced and stuffy. Food tasted fine but unimaginative.
Went to this place to enjoy a nice dinner with my girlfriend(: They didn’t start dinner until 5 and our reservation was at 430, so we sat down and had a couple of drinks and talked until 5. The atmosphere was soothing, everyone was quiet and respectful. It was perfect all the way, including the food too, which was superb.
Food was great. Service was so-so, and service took a long my time. The live music was great.
The view is great, with the sun setting and the huge tree, green lawn and the ocean breeze. The music was lovely, with a 3 person Hawaiian band and a former Miss Universe dancing. The wait staff is attentive, helpful and friendly. The food is okay, too salty for my tastes, small portions, and limited. The drinks were fgreat and the bread basket amazing. The prices are crazy, but I knew that going in so I was prepared and made this our one special meal. Would I do it again? No, I think I would go for drinks only next time. FYI Parking is complimentary if you get a validation after your meal.
Consistent and outstanding service at all levels. From the moment I drive in, having assistance with my son in a wheelchair, friendly and warm greetings from the entire staff, there is always the island tradition of aloha.
Good ambiance and great service from our waiter Ian.
Good mood, but food is average. Hula dance and live music are excellent. Service is also nice.
Wonderful dinner and great music/location.
Our 1 Year Anniversary
Favorite restaurant of the trip! Lovely beachfront ambiance , amazing service, delicious food, and loved the unexpected Hawaiian music and singer. This restaurant sets the tone for a magical night in Hawaii!
Our last dinner in Waikiki had to be somewhere very special. This is really a wonderful place - great food, excellent service and lovely surroundings.
Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly. Also they presented us with a surprise gift for our honeymoon! Thank you very much!
The catch of the day, the House fish and the strip steak were out of this world. The Blue Hawaii and the Pina Coladas were totally amazing. The attention to detail from the staff were second to none.
Very nice atmosphere and wait staff. Food was very yummy.
We had a 6pm reservation and were not seated until just almost 640pm. It took another 10 minutes for a waiter to come by and take drink orders. It was not that busy and several senior citizens (guests of the hotel?) and Asian families (commonly catered to in Waikiki) were seated before us. Once we had drinks and ordered an appetizer, service was fine. Food was good but not outstanding...I've had better steak for $50 considering we're from Texas. The desserts, however, were amazing! Overall, though, it okay. Not quite the experience I was hoping for for my husband's birthday.
While the food is good, what really made the experience great was the location next to the beach, the great Hawaiian music & hula performance (evening), and laid back atmosphere. Service is very friendly & courteous. Thanks for helping to make our special night even more special. Will be coming back again!
Lovely setting, attentive staff, wonderful menu, great food - we really enjoyed our lunch, and although we lingered in conversation, we never felt rushed or encouraged to leave. A truly delightful experience.
We are locals. Was hoping for an Ocean Sunset view but that is not possible there. Sadly the closest to the ocean and music was only cocktail tables :-(
Plus a little heavy with kids. They should be organized a bit better in terms of sections verses placed anywhere.
We had a view of Diamondback Mountain and that was nice for the misses.
Felt that there should be a section devoted to dining tables (full upright eating VS hunched over poor posture cocktail tables) closer to ocean/music. That is why this is not a 5 star universal rating.
Wonderful setting, great service, pleasant entertainment and the food was lovely. Highly recommend for a Hawaiian vibe
25 wedding anniversary
Fabulous dinner! Was for my birthday. I ordered blaster tail, but sadly they were out. Waiter recommended the steamed sea bass, which was superb. My husband had the sirloin steak and it was delicious and tender. Service was excellent and the ambiance is one of a kind paradise. Excellent birthday evening and will come again!
Beautiful, great service. Live music and the best mai tai in town. We go every time we come to Hawaii.
This restaurant has a lovely ocean front outdoor dining location. It was recommended to us by a friend. The service was exceptional but we weren't impressed with the menu. Choices were very limited and very expensive. We ordered a couple appetizers to start thinking they could be shared by the table but when the arrived it was clear they were meant to serve only one person. Observed the folks having drinks only who not only had better seating but appeared to have complimentary snacks. Think next time we'll go for drinks and sunset only and elsewhere for dinner.
The food and the hospitality of the server were fantastic. We will definitely return again next time were in Waikiki. The server recommended us to come early around 6 pm so that we can have a seat at the front of the band and enjoy the music. The only negative impression was one we received from the hostess. She knew we had our reservations but gave tables to the hotel guests who just walked in. If there are priority seatings for hotel guests, why bother to take reservations from outside guests??
But other than waiting for a while to be seated, the server and the food were fantastic.
The quality of the fish was very good, both the menu fish and the todays catch fish were sold out so both had substitutes. Seating nearest to the outside - water is lovely but further inside was just ok. The service was a bit slow - both time to initially come by for drink orders following being seated to attentiveness. Poke and other fish appetizer were ok but not as good as other similar quality and priced restaurants.
Decent but reviews project as more special than it was for us that evening.
Breakfast the next morning was similarly ok.
The Four Seasons and Aulani are better.
This is a great place to start vacation and really feel like you are in Hawaii. Food was decent. I had the Lau Lau chicken , my husband had a steak which was 4.5/10. There was definitely a point where our waiter must have forgotten about us, as there was 30 min gap between when he served our beverages and finally took our entree order. A couple that was sat after us received their meals before we even got to place our order. I really enjoyed the entertainment. The music and hula dancing really makes you feel like you are on vacation. Beautiful venue!
It was really lovely great music and dancing. The others enjoyed their meal and they gave a complimentary cake and candle for my daughters birthday. It’s just that my meal in my opinion was horrible. I had Lei Lei Chicken and it was not to my taste. Dry and bitter.
I first went to the House Without a Key 28 years ago when I was staying at the Halekulani. Since then I’ve eaten there five times and every time the food quality declines to the point of ordinary and the prices increase to the point of ridiculous. This time my wife and had a couple drinks, salad and some mushy fish for nearly $200 including tip. Over rated and over priced. Can’t imagine the folks from other countries who come for weddings are REALLY impressed.
