House Without a Key
Food, ambience and service excellent. Went on a recommendation from a family member and it did not disappoint. Delicious!
*UPDATE* I received a message from the manager and discovered that the purée did NOT contain strawberries after all and there was no allergy danger. Now having this information, I would like to adjust my review!
We came here to enjoy a special lunch with our daughter. First of all, the view and the setting is really beautiful. This is a wonderful place to sit outside and enjoy a relaxing lunch in a gorgeous environment.
The fresh fish sandwich was absolutely my husbands favorite and my daughter loved the bread basket with Lavash and fresh taro rolls.
We ordered the house specialty coconut cake for dessert and it is everything it claims to be! Light and fresh and full of flavor.
The crisp linen napkins are a nice touch for outdoor dining and we look forward to eating here again.
I especially appreciate the message from the manager reassuring us that food allergies are very important to the staff. Mahalo!
We came across this place online and it looked good so decided to try it out. We’re glad we did! The band was playing local music and the ambiance was perfect. Melissa our server was so pleasant to speak with and very knowledgeable of the menu which everything we had was great!
The setting was lovely and the service was terrific. The mains were a bit of a disappointment. I was disappointed to see Atlantic salmon on the menu in the middle of the Pacific (we did not order it). Both the ahi and the mahi mahi (the fish of the day) were a let down after having other delightful fish dishes in Honolulu/Waikiki that featured more creativity and better preparation. The starters were very nice, though, including the poke and coconut shrimp, and the salads were nice as well. I don’t think I would return for a full meal, but I would certainly return for cocktails and appetizers to enjoy the setting and service.
Great spot looking out over the beach, a lovely location.
Make sure you sit out under the umbrellas.
If you are there for sunset even better.
Great food and service. Best location on the island
Today’s soup was a little too salty or strong(?) for me. I could not eat it up. I told that to our service person, then he served me a complementary dessert after dinner, saying sorry about the soup.
What a service! I was impressed that! Thank you!
Perfect for a large gathering.
Good overall. Food was good but not great, 2 dishes were either too salty or dry(overcooked), service very good, salads very good. Excellent calamari and prime rib. Atmosphere was relaxed and engaging, early entertainment very appropriate.
The view and atmosphere was amazing!! Our servers Jen made the best recommendations and was so funny, she made the night even better.
We had a great evening at the House Without a Key. It is an upscale casual place, and reserved tables for dinner are behind those for drinks and snacks, but it's easier to have reservations than to arrive uber-early.
+ Beautiful location, best Mai tai and coconut cake, lovely views, outstanding service, nice entertainment, delicious dinner.
- It's a little challenging to access if you have walked up the beach and are not a guest at the Halekulani. We finally flagged down a security guard who let us in.
my family and friends go for 7:30 Saturday breakfast 1--2 times per month. The best place to go. Melissa, the hostess always greets you with a smile and inquires about the family. My favorite waiter, Mel, always know what my beverage of choice is and weaves in and out unobstrusively. They are a delight and start my Saturday right!
Our first meal on this visit to Honolulu. A wonderful choice for lunch to revive and relax after long flights. Fresh delicious food. Calm and unhurried. Friendly, helpful, experienced wait staff.
Josh, our server, was outstanding. He was extremely attentive and went above and beyond. We had a great evening.
Done here whenever I'm in Honolulu. One of my favorites for past 20 years. Great food, Mai Taos and scenery. Hula dancer is always super! Highly recommended!
Overpriced, poor service, would not recommend or return
Everything was very nice: the atmosphere, the food, the service... Just one flaw: I found everything too much expensive for the value. But you know, although it's sad: if you want a local of an higher level you have to pay.
We come to the House Without a Key several times a year and have always been delighted with the friendly service of the hotel’s staff, from the valets, to the restaurant servers and managers.
My family and friends enjoy the quiet, relaxing atmosphere and have favorites on the menu.
Food was okay. Nothing to write home about. Entertainment was nice. Service was a C at best.
We enjoyed a beautiful birthday dinner. The setting is beautiful and the live music was very nice. Excellent food and service!
Love the freshness of ingredients, expensive but worth the feeling of satisfaction.
Do not miss this wonderful restaurant with excellent service and food.
We had a 7:45 reservation but weren’t seated until 8:10, and hadn’t gotten any food or drinks until 8:35. They had run out of many items by the time we ordered including all of the gluten free items my son was interested in.
They did offer us complimentary dessert but the service was extremely slow and the food really just ok but very expensive.
I had heard good things about the restaurant but our overall experience was very disappointing. Would not recommend.
Always a stop when we are in Waikiki. As a matter of fact? We usually stop in two or three times when we visit. Never disappointed.
This is the ultimate location for a relaxing dinner enjoying the music of Hawaii.
The service & food is too perfection, quality & variety is perfect when dining out on holidays.
Wait staff are attentive & happy to please.
Love this hotel quality & classy.
New Year’s Eve. Wonderful buffet and the entertainment very good. The coconut cake was the best we ever had.
We went to this restaurant New Year's not expecting a buffet, but decided it would be ok. The food was less than adequate; really nothing special; not much flavor; seems as though not much thought was put into the menu creation. We were extremely disappointed in the food. Our Waiter, however, was extremely attentive which made the experience more pleasant. We have dined at the hotel's other restaurants, but will not go back.
Exceptional experience. Great food. Very consistent food and service over the years.
Everything was great! We ate dinner there and had a great experience.
Good food, nice music!
We chose this venue to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted with friendly service and were accommodated very well since we arrived early. They gave us the perfect table which matched what I had requested in our reservation. The Hawaiian music and hula show were outstanding. The waitress we had was very helpful and aware of our preferences and needs and paced the service of our meal so that we did not feel hurried but could enjoy a romantic night under the stars. Everything was delicious including the specialty drinks and the coconut cake that our waitress gave us as a treat in celebration of our anniversary.
Halekulani continues to be my favorite hotel in Waikiki that has top notch service!
まず びっくりしたのが スタッフの対応が良かったこと フレンドリーで料理なども
On arrival for lunch on 30th December the meet and greet girl couldn't be more miserable if she tried. It was not just with us. While we waited for our table she was equally miserable with other customers, especially noticed that when one gentlemen asked a question she didn't even both looking up. However, an older lady in a two piece suit came to take us to our table and she was lovely and vibrant. We were seated on the terrace under an umbrella and when we asked if we could move to a table closer to the water, which was being vacated by other guests, she gladly obliged once it had been cleaned and re-set. She went out of her way to be polite and welcoming. I wish I had got her name. Waiter was fine too. Food was average and when prices converted to Australian Dollars it was expensive for a cob salad, a sandwich and 2 non-alcoholic drinks. The location was lovely and the restaurant was not busy so no feeling of being rushed or crowded. The Halekulani hotel is beautiful and well worth a wander through. I loved the floral display in the reception area.
I would suggest House Without a Key for drinks and appetizers. The live music was fun and the appetizers and drinks were good. Dinner was also tasty but slightly over priced.
