House Without a Key
Nice restaurant, great sunset view and nice brand playing, but food was too expensive for the quality.
We loved it! The server was such a nice, charming lady. Food was peefect, coctail was a totally balanced and tasty. And cakes? Oh, my God, those in house made desserts are worth every penny!
The live music at 5:30 was great! Service was great as well. We ordered from the dinner menu and found it to be very expensive and a bit too fancy for us. We went here based on a recommendation. Ultimately I think we are more hole in the wall/ food truck people. The drinks were a bit strong (mai tai) but presentation was lovely. We did order dessert and it was great. We ordered the coconut cake and it was a generous slice we could share, it was delicious, and presentation was beautiful. Up to you, but scope out the dinner menu ahead of time to make sure that it sounds good to you. If you do go, it will be lovely and service will be great.
Great seafood, ambience, band & fireworks on Fridays. Best mai tai!!
Unbelievable view. Live music. Food was a C- at best. I would come for drinks but would not eat here again.
Our waiter, Guy, was friendly & helpful. He made great recommendations. The food was delicious and the sunset pushed it over the top. Definitely want to go back.
Great music and atmosphere. Great calamari and coconut cake!
Delicious food and good entertainment was a perfect place for the birthday celebration
Food was good but I think over priced.
Beautiful location, but service lacks graciousness. Food was excellent
We went to House Without a Key after reading all of the rave reviews online of how it is a must-go restaurant in Oahu. Although the atmosphere was amazing, the food left something left to be desired. For the prices of the dishes, I certainly expected to be impressed. Alas, the standard set by the delicious Mai Tai that began the experience was followed by a sigh. I decided on the Ahi tuna which was to be served with eggplant and tomatoes. Perhaps I should have asked more questions, but I expected the fish to be seared and mostly rare (as most ahi tuna I have had typically is served.) When the plate was put in front of me, I saw two fully cooked filets piled one on the other, a few sticks of eggplant and (the kicker) a whole cherry tomato just hanging out next to it all. Overall, the plate was "just fine," but nothing to rave about while also being disinteresting to look at. Other than the food, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere perfect for a relaxed but not necessarily casual dining experience, and the Mai Tais were just what one would want a signature tropical drink to be.
Food and service were outstanding. Best lunch we had during this visit to Honolulu.
I love the restaurant. It really feels like Hawaii to me everytime I go. The view, the entertainment, all so authentically Hawaiian. I would like to see a bit more choices on the menu at some point, but I will always be back.
A beautiful calm place to have lunch in the middle of Waikiki.
The food was average. The Cesar salad dressing was mostly mayonnaise; the ahi tuna was served very plainly; and the coconut cake was a moist angel food cake with some coconut in the buttercream frosting. A cup of tea was $9. Come for the ambience, not the food.
Nice and sunny dinner with your loving ones! However the food were not good as we expected. Ther cake was great!
Entertainment performance was very good. and, sunset atmosphere was excellent!
We had the best Mai Tai’s and appetizers here, during our stay in Honolulu. The entertainment was the icing on the cake. Would highly recommend making this part of your dinner or drink plans.
Went for dinner while on vacation in Waikiki, after have received a few recommendations for this place. The entire experience was poor. It felt like being in an outdoor cafeteria. We waited 15 minutes to be seated, even though half of the restaurant was empty. The potions were tiny, the quality of food was totally average and the menu options were paltry. To top it all off, the ambience was totally lacking.
Stick to the restaurants you know while dining in this area. The hotel restaurants, that I have experienced on this trip have all been lacking.
We had an amazing dinner per usual with our favorite waiter Ian who is the kindest and accompanying person!! Salmon and prime rib meal were to die for. You must come to House Without a key if staying on Oahu!!!!! Thank you again!!
The restaurant is in the perfect location for Hawaii: great for sunsets, great view of Diamond Head, terrific music, and food and service to die for. Please, never take the Lau Laus off the menu. I love that dish and the calamari was outstanding. We visit Honolulu about twice a year and we try to make this restaurant our last dinner of our trip. It is a great way to end a wonderful visit.
Was nice to have Miss Hawaii, Miss USA, Miss Universe performing there during our meal. House without a Key never disappoints!
House without a key is our favorite restaurant in Waikiki. It has great food, a beautiful setting by the ocean, and excellent service.
Awesome place so good we are going back tonight
Keep up the outstanding food service and atmosphere
service, food. and ambiance is excellent. Really enjoy the trio playing music and graceful hula show during the evening.
I used to love this spot, but tonight it was off. Drinks were so strong that they were not tasty or enjoyable. We left both our tropical itch and mai tai unfinished. Lobster tacos were great, crusted ahi was good, but bare. With no sauce or other accents to take it to the next level, it was simply a grilled piece of fish with a few small vegetables at a high price. Nother special.
All dining tables are so far back from the entertainment that you're too removed from the sunset and music experience. Not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here again.
We feel this is the best place in town. As local residents we always treat our guests to at least one evening at House Without A Key because of its great service, lovely environment and attentive service staff. The drinks and food are exceptional. Jan is the best server on the island!
Food was fantastic! Great entertainment. Service excellent!
Amazing views, tasty and creative dishes, relaxing true Hawaii experience.
Service was excellent, attentive yet considerate of our need for private conversation. Noise level was not distracting. Lovely surrounding and views. Food and cocktails very very good and satisfying.
Beautiful spot overlooking the ocean with live Hawaiian music band and miss universe doing hula dance. Had the catch of the day and it was perfectly prepared. Great, stiff mai tai and fabulous service from Josh made this a memorable anniversary dinner. Highly recommend
Josh was great he made our honeymoon dinner amazing and so special! Highly recommend going for sunset dinner such a beautiful restaurant
Service was very slow. We sat at our table for an hour before food arrived (drinks came a bit faster but still slow)
House without a Key has incredible view, great music, and great cocktails and bites.
