Went for my husbands birthday and they went out of their way to make him feel special. Server Allen was excellent
Very nice staffs behavier and serving good meels especially for stakes.
Just a beautiful place to enjoy a lovely dinner with my wife. We will definitely be back!
Gorgeous setting with lovely ambiance. Couldn’t fault the service and food. Just a real pleasure to watch a lovely Waikiki sunset, a delicious cocktail in hand listening to the live music. A must do in Waikiki.
A little disappointed,,,The H is my all time favorite restaurant. Have never been to HWAK before. Service was average (really good by normal standards but compared to what I have gotten used to at TH,,,which is the BEST,,,was just ok). Will probably stick to the Orchids,,,still love TH!
We booked ahead and requested a table towards the front with a Diamond Head view. We were pleased to get a table as requested. The restaurant is in the grounds of the Helueani hotel .The waiter was very pleasant and gave us good service and advice. The
Hawaiin band were excellent and played for hours. The menu is somewhat limited and the food is good but nothing to rave about. Wines are expensive as is the food. However the service, music and view made up for it in a way.
We went here for my sister’s birthday. I was thoroughly impressed with the service and entertainment. The band actually sang a song for my sister and it was a great memory! I had the steak medium rare which was delicious however my sister ordered medium well and it was very fatty and red in the middle. Overall at great experience though
House Without a Key never disappoints. The only down-side is the noise. Always noisy. Don’t really like that. Otherwise, good food, good service, and wonderful authentic entertainment!
My husband and I had a delightful lunch at The House Without a Key on Mother's Day. There was wonderful Hawaiian entertainment with singing and a lovely hula dancer. Our waiter was very solicitous and made us feel very welcome as he catered to our every need. We are planning to make this a monthly luncheon "date" since we so thoroughly enjoyed our Mother's Day lunch. Thank you to the staff at The House Without a Key. The view is so amazing too!!
The fish was good, the rest of the meal was plastic.
A beautiful evening in a beautiful setting! Drinks are delicious, food is ok, service laid back but we like that-they were always there when we needed them. The real prize is the setting-a wonderful trio of musicians and a beautiful hula dancer with the sun setting behind facing the beach and next to Diamond Head...a wonderful evening!
Previously one of our favorites but a big let down this time. The setting is - as always - visually stunning but the dozen plus keiki (children) running around the lawn uncontrolled by parents ruined the ambiance. This evening It was like a toddler daycare facility with parents drinking and dining in the bar/lounge section while their kids ran and screamed unchecked - a big distraction from enjoying the excellent house trio performing classic Hawaiian music with lovely hula. The server was scarce and seemed “checked out” and unengaged. The shrimp cocktail was mediocre. The house specialty steamed Onaga was bland and flavorless as was the $49 prime rib - it tasted like boiled beef. The traditional Hawaiian cocktails were well prepared and helped calm the frantic environment. The coconut cake was very good. We had planned to dine here twice while we were in Waikiki but cancelled and won’t return. If you go - get a table closer to the pool away from the “playground” lawn - and go for chips and drinks in the lounge seating - skip dinner. Not at all romantic!
Was very pleased with our dining experience. Nice view of Diamond Head and the sunset. Service was top notch and the food excellent. The Hawaiian music and dancer added to the island ambiance.
We went to House Without A Key for our first dinner in Oahu. The ambiance was a nice “Hawaiian” atmosphere which was what we were looking for on arrival to the Hawaiian islands after long day of travel. The service was very good and everyone was very friendly. The Mai Tai’s were delicious and almost too pretty to drink! The food was nothing special and in my opinion, very overpriced for what we ordered (kalua pork sandwich and a simple chicken dish). Dessert was very good (coconut cake and pineapple cheesecake). All in all, I’m glad we went, but would probably not go back unless it was a special occasion or maybe just for a few drinks and ambiance.
From the moment of arrival we were met with thoughtful and courteous service. We did not have to ask for a thing, all was provided right on time including valet parking validation. Food was just right and the lunchtime kiawe court at water's edge ambiance was perfect.
We went two nights. The first night we sat in the shade and had the most relaxing and amazing night. We returned thinking a supper table would be even better. No. We were seated at a table in the sun and it was stressful until the sun finally went behind the building. The food is fantastic. Go the band is nice. Just sit behind the trees close to the stage.
Food is bland. It didn’t t taste anything. Lack of flavor. The ambiance is nice since it a outside. But we had an appointment for 8:30 and the band had already stopped playing. I think they should let the clients know beforehand. Disappointed. Waste of time and money. Not cheap. It should be a good spot for few drinks at sunset.
Excellent environment, I would like to come back soon!!!
During our stay in Honolulu, we went twice to A house without a key. Both times, our diner was excellent. We especially enjoyed sitting outside, by the sea. Once the nice music ends, it is rather quiet, and thus good for conversations. During the music, this is more challenging. The cocktails are great, we enjoyed our Mai Tai’s.
Awesome. Understated elegance and great food.
We went to House Without a Key for a romantic sunset dinner on the beach listening to Hawaiian music. Our evening was anything but. It was more like the Playland at McDonalds. Kids yelling and screaming everywhere. No parental controls. We could not even hear the music or we the show. Very disappointing.
We had the steamed Onaga which was very tasty and the fresh catch which was also very tasty. Our server was not very good. He was slow and never checked back on drink refills but he was very friendly. The water filler was very good about refilling low water.
I’ve Hawaiian music, beautiful view. Super nice!
I booked this restaurant because it was on the beach and I was looking for a romantic spot and it had a live band performing. The dinner was very good, the service was outstanding and the setting was romantic as hoped for. The food quality was very good although I have to say the coconut cake was outstanding. My only disappointment was our seating. We were away from the band undercover and I booked the first day reservations were available and had asked for outdoor seating. There were closer tables and with my hearing issue it would have been nice to be closer to the band.
I had heard about this place and how fabulous it was - for years. I was expecting more. It’s an expensive casual dining experience with even more casual service staff.
Beautiful location, great entertainment, delicious mai tais. Food just OK.
We have dined here before and it never disappoints for service and the quality of food. Love to sit back and watch the sunset as we enjoy a wonderful meal and the music.
Ideal place for casual outdoor dining in the Halekulani hotel with Hawaiian live entertainment from 5:30 pm onwards. The service is friendly, the food is very good with a Hawaiian touch, and the ambiance is just ideal. I recommend to try the Mai Tai - it has a refreshing taste with a citrusy note.
食事は期待していた程では無かったですが、雰囲気サービスはとても良いです。子連れにも優しいです。ショーの演奏 フラダンスそして サンセットは良く、ゆっくりとした空間を楽しめました。
Beautiful views, good music. For every day and special occasions.
We made the RSVP for my birthday because we wanted to watch the show. Unfortunately, our table was kind of to the side. We could see a little of the band playing but couldn’t see anyone dancing hula. Other than that everything else was good. I would come back again but next time I’ll probably request to have a table where I can see the show.
Nice place to enjoy an alfresco dinner. This was an authentic experience with live music, hula dancer and fabulous sunsets. This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint.
We were excited to bring our mainland visitors here, but the service was so poor I won't ever go back. Our waiter wasn't welcoming or friendly and he made us feel like we were bothering him just for even being there. We have had such great service at places all over the island (from Maui Brewing Company to MW) I didn't expect it to be so inferior.
The view is lovely and the performers were fantastic, but for the cost of the dinners and the lackluster service, it's not worth it.
Beautiful spot for drinks or dinner with live local music and a view of the ocean (& sometimes sunset). The drinks were incredible as was the food.
