Inn at Taughannock
The ambience was delightful and the food was very good. It would have been perfect except for the staff rushing us terribly. For a special occasion and a fixed price meal, with was very unpleasant.
Amazing Thanksgiving meal in a truly wonderful setting!
Gorgeous location and views! Food was not extraordinary, but good enough. Servings were larger that I would have expected. I would definitely go again. A great place to bring visitors to really show off the beauty of the region.
Elegant restaurant with breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake. Romantic and cozy place. The service was excellent, knowledgeable and prompt.
Food: The Duck special was amazing.
The Turkey Dinner was very good. Could use a bit more seasoning in the gravy and the mashed potatoes needed more butter. Easily fixable at the table.
The burger was something we won’t try again. We can get a better burger at a less expensive place. The toppings were limp and the special bacon ham was just too sweet with a weird indescribable flavor.
Coffee was excellent as a matter of fact I asked the name and have already found it online and ordered it for my own kitchen!
The desserts... we had a lava cake which was dark chocolate ganache flavor and very rich with vanilla ice cream. The carrot cake was “meh”.. not enough carrots flavor and the icing lacked the cream cheese tang and was more like store bought fake icing.
I recommend you check out this elegant little gem.
The ambiance is what draws me here to begin with. Then pair that with the food and you have an overall amazing date and dinner night. Just lovely.
We had a wonderful experience at the Inn at Taughannock. The atmosphere was very romantic, with incredible views of the Fall foliage overlooking the lake. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Our food was delicious, far exceeding our expectations. We are very much looking forward to our next visit!
Gorgeous room, fabulous view, fantastic food, excellent service! Exceeded our expectations.
No. We have been going there occasionally since 1970. It has changed management many times since. This was our worst experience. The dining room has been redecorated and looks sterile and white. The service was poor and slow. A number of the dishes were genuinely mediocre. We won't be going back.
This was an overall great experience. My wife and I had eaten here before but our first time staying at the Inn. The staff let us stay outside by the fire pit until they were done cleaning up and ready to close for the evening. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we plan to make a special trip from California to stay there again (and eat at the restaurant) in the near future. The wait staff was very good and took care of all of our needs. Highly recommend the restaurant and the Inn.
We had a great waitress, which made this occasion so special. The view was lovely and we both enjoyed our dinners. The dusted calamari was especially delicious.
Great view and atmosphere. Service was excellent but while the good was good, my fish had crab shells in it and my husband said his turkey dinner was just lukewarm. We were celebrating our anniversary and received a dessert free which was nice.
I would highly recommend the Inn at Taughannock! My husband and I thought everything at the Inn at Taughannock restaurant was absolutely amazing .! We were there to spend an evening at the Inn to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and decided to have dinner there as well, and it exceeded expectations! The server was very attentive and the hostess was welcoming. Before dinner, we had drinks outside near the the glass fire pit which was a plus on a cool night. The patio overlooks Cayuga lake across the street. We were seated at a window table with an expansive view of the lake - what a perfect location! The food was outstanding! We tried the Kentucky Fried pork belly appetizer , scallops entree and lobster w Pasta special - all were well portioned and delicious! In addition we were provided with complimentary dessert for our anniversary ( both the fruit tart and Carmel chocolate were incredible!)
As guests of the Inn, the continental breakfast included with our stay was everything you could ask for, with excellent coffee!
Great ambiance, delicious steak, great pinot grigio. It was a bit expensive, but I enjoyed it a lot!
Great view, relax on the deck overlooking the lake valley before or after dinner, the menu offers a great variety
Food was good, they were very accommodating to my mom's gluten allergy. Staff was very nice. The wait time for food was a bit long. Everything was tasty. I only regret not asking them to butterfly my medium rare filet. It was a more rare in the center then I would have liked. I minor issue with being side but they fixed that immediately. Desserts were excellent. The view was very nice of the lake.
Most enjoyable 45th Wedding Anniversary dinner.
Although we live in Seneca Falls, I'm sorry to say we never eaten at the Inn.....even though we discussed it numerous times.
We enjoyed our experience so much, we are planning on returning next weekend with out of town close friends who will visiting.
We have stayed at the Inn and dined here for 25 years. The Inn is romantic and beautiful and the food at the restaurant has been consistently delicious!
I'd recommend this restaurant to a friend because the view from the dining room is beautiful.
The most quaint, elegant dining experience in the Ithaca area. The nicest outdoor space and exceptional hospitality.
I wrote something earlier in another email...........
Great food. One of our best meals anywhere in a long time. Great scenic spot with a great view of the lake.
Outstanding meal and beautiful setting. Well done.
This is a lovely historic Inn with a terrific view of Cayuga Lake. We were welcomed with a warm smile and greeting. Our server was excellent and made recommendations. We came to celebrate our anniversary and were treated to desserts as beautiful as they were tasty. We will return for special occasions.
Tasty food, fun wait staff and a beautiful view make this a perfect choice for a special occasion. Since it was our anniversary, we were offered a complimentary glass of wine or dessert, a really nice touch. If you are looking for a pleasant evening with yummy food, The Inn at Taughannock should be on your list.
Our dining experience at Inn at Taughannock was nothing less than stellar. The setting looks over the lake and park offering beautiful views at any time of day and any time of year. The menu is limited, so we know every item offered will be excellent. Everyone at our table ordered a different special of the night. The scallops were the favorite. The wine list is also excellent, as was the wine recommendation from our server, Christine. The wait staff is excellent; we were fortunate that we had the same server this year as we had last. It was like seeing a dear friend. Inn at Taughannock is a treasure and one of our favorite dining establishments.
Meals could have been better prepared. Pasta was salty, turkey a bit dry. Long wait for check.
Food was outstanding, close quarters so conversations were tough but still good. Lighting was limited and a little dark but that could have been part of storm coming through. Waitress was very attentive.
Prices may seem high but quality of food was well worth it.
We were very surprised and appreciative that the hostess gave us a wonderful window seat up in the “balcony” - better then regular window seat. WE were completely surprised and appreciative that they recognized and gave us a bottle of champagne since we celebrating our anniversaries. We were disappointed in the selection of entrees - we have been there years ago and they seem to have cut back on the entree offerings and did away with the “family style” way of serving. Our entrees were good to very good but not exactly what we were looking to order.
Had a very pleasant dinner. The food was excellent in flavor, but the presentation was a little bland and the serving size is quite small. Nice wine at a reasonable price. Service was attentive and friendly. The view was outstanding from our window table. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or just a relaxing summer evening meal.
We had an excellent experience from the moment we arrived. We were greeted at the door and directed to the bar while they were getting our table ready. Our waitress was excellent and the food was perfect. View was perfect, we had a table right at the window. We all had a different entree and each one was different and great! Umar was the best!!
I would recommend to a friend based on the atmosphere and food. My recommendation would come with the disclaimer that the service was lacking. We were told several times that they were very busy and it seemed they were under staffed for the evening with two servers. We waited 30 minutes for a server to come to our table. If we return, we would order drinks from the bar first before being seated. Once our food and beverages came we were very pleased with both.
This past weekend my boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn at Taughannock.
What a beautiful, scenic spot. The atmostphere, staff and owners were more than friendly making our experience personal and perfect. The room we stayed in was clean, spacious and relaxing.
Dinner was delicious along with breakfast and cocktails they serve.
I would defeinately come back here for an overall great weekend and would recommend this place to my friends and family.
The food was very good and the atmosphere was excellent, we ordered two drinks and they were as much as the cost of one meal. I do not think I will be ordering drinks there again. Overall it was a very good memory
We love the food, ambiance and view at Inn at Taughannock. This most recent meal was even better because we were able to dine outside - an extra treat! The view and fresh air and quiet were superb. The staff were very friendly and accommodating!
Lovely time! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! This was our second time here and both experiences were perfect.
The only thing I would suggest is to correct the dessert menu, which had items erroneously marked "V." First, it was not clear if the "V" was for vegan or vegetarian. Second, some of the items were definitely neither vegan nor vegetarian, and still marked "V."
While the location is beautiful and the staff is kind, we were disappointed in our visit to the restaurant. The chef takes liberties And makes changes to meals without notice - my husband received risotto instead of whipped potatoes with his scallops and my potatoes were not prepared as stated (and described when asked for clarification) with the tenderloin. We also wanted salads and were assured the rainbow salads were good- unfortunately it wasn’t really a salad but instead just slices of tomato (that wasn’t very ripe) and beets with a large serving of cheese. I’d specifically asked about the salads as I was sharing with my 11-yr-old daughter (no children’s menu) and wanted to make sure she would enjoy it as well. The tomatoes and beets came out quickly but we waited for about 40 minutes after we finished with them for our meal - and the restaurant was not busy. Our meal was the most expensive of our week in Ithaca (about $125) and we walked away disappointed.
We've always liked eating at Taughannock Farms Inn because of the ambience. The building is beautiful, surpassed only by the magnificent view--even more impressive on a sunny, summer day. As a rule, the food is good, but not spectacular. On this visit, however, there were some fine dishes. The risotto under the perfectly seared scallops was delectable, and the calamari was also perfectly cooked. My husband found the steak difficult to cut and chew--even if it was cooked as he requested--so had to send it back. Both he and my dad enjoyed the chicken parmesan dinner--good, but nothing special. Our server (Christine, I think) was excellent--professional, yet friendly, gracious, and clearly knowledgeable about the food. She recommended that we save room for dessert, and we were not disappointed. She also fixed the faux pas of the hostess. We arrived early on purpose to have a cocktail before dinner. The hostess seemed to find our arrival an annoyance. She directed us to the bar, but there was no bar tender. After quite some time, she arrived to ask us what we would like. When I asked for a wine list, she acted annoyed again, particularly when she saw that I expected her to deliver it to me instead of standing up and going to her at the bar. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine. She opened it, plopped it on the table along with three wine glasses, and walked away. We wondered why she had neither provided champagne flutes nor poured the wine. When we were seated, our gracious waitress brought us champagne flutes and transferred the wine for us. Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant evening.
DELICIOUS! Great service spectacular view we had a wonderful evening.
Small menu. Not much to choose from. more expensive than necessary. Delivery of food was inappropriate. Was told they ran out of bread and it would be 15 minutes. Ordered an expensive salad which should’ve been included in the price of my meal. The salad came 10 minutes after the bread and then my entree came 30 seconds later.
😩 at that point I couldn’t enjoy my expensive salad since my food was getting cold. Ordered chicken parm. Was supposed to come with fettuccini noodles. But came with egg noodles😩.
Waitress kept apologizing, but that just irritated me. For as expensive as the food cost, it should’ve been ran and organized better. It was very pretty and the view was beautiful. The salad tasted good. And my meal was hot. But overall my experience was very disappointing!!
Great view of the lake. Service was excellent. Wine perfect.
