LOVE Isa. Bar none one of my favorite restaurants in SF.
Family of 10: 7 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby. Every single pre-fixe dish was absolutely delicious. Made the kids spaghetti first as they were “starving”. Service was attentive and friendly. We did have to wait 20 minutes for our 7:45 reservation, so maybe they really were starving.
My sisters and I were in town for a short weekend and found this place by recommendation. Incredible service and a beautifully crafted menu! Would highly recommend the Truffle Risotto if you enjoy high impact umami flavors. Will definitely need to come back when I’m in town again.
Every dish was perfectly prepared. The service was attentive but not overly so. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
Had a great dinner enjoying the fixed priced menu. There were a lot of good selections from the main one. Food was excellent.
Service was fantastic by Jonathan. I would hope to have him again next time I visit.
Outdoor dining only at this available in the front parklet and in the back patio, both heated snd covered.
The problem is it was 53 degree of F outside. They promised heated patio. The turn on a heter but turn off it after some time not asving whether it would be ok. Moreover, one waiter with a silver beard responded in an unpolite manner and lied. I visited this restaurant many times. The food is always good and service two. This time, however, this rude silver beard writer distroyed all my good impression. May be in his opinion if you go to restaurant you should be happy with a heavy jacket on. In my opinion this is not comfortable and not elegant. And by the way, how many of you eat dinner haking your jacket or czat on? I will never do this and this silver beard waiter wanted me to do this. So, I left. He is there twice a week. May be I will decide to visie this place one more but first I will check whetehr he is there
My husband and I have had some great experiences at Isa but sadly this wasn't one of them. The food always remains consistently good and so does the service but on this occasion not so. When we arrived for our reservation there was a very lively scene outside with diners enjoying the parklets but we were taken inside to an empty restaurant with only one other table. The only time slot I could get was 5.45 but the restaurant was empty and remained empty the whole time we were there. After that it went downhill. While the food was good, the service was awful. It was clear the server couldn't care less about us informed us rudely that all the dishes don't come out at the same time. We know this anyway so it is not a biggie but he was almost aggressive with it. After we had ordered our meal, we had to ask him repeatedly for the wine list so we could have a bottle with our meal. As it was by the time the wine arrived we had finished eating. I heard him talking about other customers in a derogatory way to his colleagues and frankly the whole experience left a bad taste. We have been going to Isa for many, many years but will not return there again.
Staff was welcoming and warm!
Food was excellent, the corkage policy is ridiculously expensive. Charge was $45 a bottle. I won’t go back because of that expense.
Food was incredible. We joined for restaurant week. 5 courses. Courses 2-5 had 5-7 choices in each course. We had trouble choosing. Every single plate was incredible. With 4 of us, we got to try 4 different items in each course.
The Foie Gras was extra, we at first hesitated. So glad we added that. Wow. All I can say is DO NOT skip the Foie Gras!
Jonathon, our server, was so experienced, he was also incredible, great knowledge and great banter. Would like to see him in action on a normal night.
Just an outstanding evening. Some of the best food I have ever tasted!
Food taste are ok not great like read from the reviews. The price isnt really matched with it.
We had a party of 6, even though some of us came in late, the staff were able to seat us right away. Very nice staff even though they were very busy, especially for San Francisco Restaurant week. We were wondering how the food would turn out given the large selection of choices. Well, each dish came in at or exceed expectation. It was a great experience for all of us, great food, great service, and ambience. Will definitely come back soon!
We went during restaurant week. Great value for your money
Service was awesome! Waiter was kind and fun! Really appreciate his recommendations! Food was delicious! I would come back! :)
Food was extraordinary! Every place setting in the 5 course prix fixe menu was extremely good. We requested inside dining because it was quite chilly on the front. The tented patio in back was comfortable. The service was very good. We have already recommended Isa to a few friends. We will be back.
First time for our group to go to Isa and we had a great time. We went in response to the SF Dining Week. Five courses with lots of choices and shared dishes. Plenty of food and each offering was delicious.
We will be back!
Overal good experience during restaurant week. Glad they have weathered covid closures!
Always love the service and food! Just our luck with a drunk group next to us, but I understand haha
We enjoyed the SF Restaurant Week 5-course dinner.
All of the courses were delicious. The wines were great,
and the service was wonderful.
We love this place. We chose to return to dine here after being here a few months ago (we have family in the area). It was amazing. The yellowtail appetizer was amazing as was everything else we ordered. Will will return again when we back in town.
Isa was incredible. We went for restaurant week and did the $65 fixed 5-course menu. Everything we tried was great and they have an awesome wine list. Service was terrific. Highly recommend - we will definitely be back.
All the dishes were really tasty. I really enjoyed the shrimp app and the tuna tartar. The dishes are made for sharing, and smaller bites.
A caveat about this review: We went for SF Restaurant Week and there had been a power outage that lasted until just before our reservation. The combo might have affected the service. Based on pervious reviews, maybe not.
:: The Good ::
The value for SFRW was outstanding, especially with both the amount and quality of the food. Out of all consumed, our only complaint was the Lobster broth, which tasted as if sugar had been added. Everything else was quite good, with the duck and scallops highlights.
:: The Bad::
During these Covid times, tables are supposed to be limited to parties of 6. During our meal, a birthday party of 9 were seated next to us at a single table. This group made us further uncomfortable by not following protocols like asking other tables to take photos of them and walking around unmasked. Our response was to settle up quickly after finishing dessert as the enjoyable space had taken a turn.
:: The Ugly ::
Imagine 1.5 hours between your 2nd and 3rd (out of 5) courses. That's what we experienced while others, who were seated after us, were served. After approx. an hour we asked our waiter the status of the food when he came around with dessert(!) dishes; he said it was on its way (it wasn't). 15 minutes later we asked the manager about it (he also said it was on its way... you know what comes next). Finally we hit up an assistant waiter/bus boy who then got it out to us in minutes. Said and done, 3 hours total for a meal that should have been half as long with no apologies or acknowledgement of the issue by Isa's.
:: Final Thought ::
If you have hours to spare and aren't hungry when you get there, go to this restaurant.
Always amazing food and very pleasant service from start to finish. Perfect place for a date night or with the ones you love. Prepare to share! Plates come out in random order depending on what is being prepped in the kitchen. Love the back patio.
Amazing menu, food was great and service was outstanding. Had a great time on Wednesday night out in SF with drinks next door afterwards. Highly recommend for quality dishes.
We enjoyed the food for sure but the service was very slow. It took an hour to bring our food, drink service was slow, and we waited for 15 min to get our check picked up. It was cold on the patio but very nice ambiance. It was on the pricier side for tapas yet good quality.
We were seated in the back Garden which was protected from the wind. We ordered all of our food at once as instructed and enjoyed the variety , presentation and flavors of each dish .
It is small plates and designed to be shared and I would recommend 2 dishes per person.
We loved the hamachi crudo , foie grad and risotto. The chicken was nice comfort food and the calamari tasty . The flourless chocolate cake and creme brulee -both were delicious .
We will certainly return .
Outstanding food. Calamari with white beans and the truffle mushroom risotto were amazing. There’s a reason it’s been around for so long. We ate outside in parklet, which was a bit noisy but also beautiful, warm evening when a lot of people out and about. Will be back again for sure.
Great streetwise patio and great server!
Crab salad, duck breast!
Favorite SF place and neighborhood. Food fantastic
Great food. Beautiful presentation. Variety of choices made dining fun and adventuresome. Quality and freshness was a big plus!
Intimate setting, good food, staff are friendly
Isa is perhaps our favorite restaurant in the Marina District. The food and service are both outstanding. The outdoor dining is nicely arranged and comfortable.
I love the food here and the staff are always so welcoming. Will be back for sure.
Service was great and food was delicious. Very glad we made reservations so we could be seated in the warmer back patio dining area, because it seemed pretty cold in the front dining section.
Awesome place the food was great and so was the service
Now we know!!
Decent, tasty food with slightly inattentive service, at SF prices
The food here is outstanding! We tried the lamb (most amazing thing I’ve had in awhile), calamari, crab salad (lots of fresh crab, they don’t skimp), duck, goat cheese and butter lettuce salad. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The host was really helpful and held a table for some unexpected friends that wanted to join us. At the end of the night, we met the owner who told us the chef has been there 20 years. So happy to have discovered this spot.
