The restaurant was closed!!!!! We were really disappointed because we drove in from the suburbs.
Reached on time

Nice ambiance, pretty good service. However, the food was a big disappointment. They reopened recently and I guess they haven't been able to setup their kitchen yet. Most of the food was unavailable for dinner and whatever we ordered seemed to made from leftover scraps. The chicken was extremely overcooked and doused in vinegar. The vegetarian entree was overcooked too and was different from the description in the menu.
Best place in the West Loop for traditional & authentic Indian cuisine. Recipes & flavors taste like they were handed down from generation's past. Wait staff & managers are very nice & accommodating, will definitely be back for my 6th time this Summer. :)
The food here is great! Traditional Indian options done well. The menu is extensive. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, there were very few people dining in. They don’t seem to have worked that hard on their ambience. It was mostly take out.
Great service and delicious food offerings! Loving the outdoor solution -- perfect for the end of summer.
I had been to this restaurant previously many times and used to be a regular customer despite the serve being at times incredibly slow because it was close and the food was good but had only interacted with one of the owners. The other owner was so disrespectful along with the bartender. They actually cursed at us which is inexcusable. They quickly denied doing so when onlookers on Thur busy west Randolph street began to stare at them though the busy boy who was the only one polite enough to apologize and onlookers on the street along with the two of us had heard them. They tried to tell us we had to leave with no warning that we are shutting down we will give you five minutes to finish the drinks you still have. We just asked for a few minutes or a return or the drinks and of course basic kindness and politeness. Then we were told they would call the politics on us. Which they did not do because what could they call the police for everyone on the street saw that we did nothing wrong to deserve third rudeness. I am not sure if we treated so badly because we look different and dared to ask them for a few minutes or at least to not be rude after a tip that was over 20 percent for a 150 dollar meal. Our date was ruined. This is 2020 and the service industry is about politeness and service. Not to mention regular business is hard to come by in COVID times. Because it was one of the owners I am pretty sure nothing will be done but customers should know as should others owners and investors.
Thank you for your time.
A very good choice for Indian food, classic recipes prepared well.
Service was not as attentive as it should have been.
So so good!!! Will definitely be coming back.
Great dinner!
Delicious, fresh, and flavorful Indian Cuisine! Both my dinner partner and I enjoyed the recommendations made by the waiter. The fried chicken appetizer was sweet, tangy, tender, and saucy. It reminded me of flavors similar to Chinese Sesame Chicken, without the sesame. The rice puff salad was light and refreshing. It was reminiscent of salsa tossed with light crunchies from fried chips and rice puffs. The lamb chop was cooked to perfection; however, a mint yogurt sauce was missing this time compared to our last visit. The only drawback we had was the vindaloo sauce came out not as tight and spicy as I remembered it should taste. It reminded me of a marinara sauce lightly seasoned with hints of curry flavor. Next time, we will try asking for a more robust curry. The restaurant now serves alcohol. The cocktails were strong, balanced and delicious. One minor service recommendation, try spacing out the appetizers and dinner in accordance with drinks served. Ours cocktail came near the end of our third appetizer. The bottle of wine was served near the end of our meal. Overall, this is my favorite Indian Restaurant in the vicinity.
Food is good but it’s very expensive!
The staff was wonderful, food was great. We traveled from Ohio where we used to have a fabulous Indian restaurant until the owners moved. We were so happy to find this restaurant as we traveled to Chicago.
Only stayed for 20 minutes because the experience was that bad. Highlights include:
-Sat at bar because table wasn't ready
-Bartender was too busy, didn't acknowledge us, didn't offer us water or drinks (in the ~15 minutes we were sitting)
-Bartender had hands all over ice cubes for cocktails and was looking up recipes on his phone
-Waitress raised her voice with bartender for slow service and wanted him to prioritize service to her tables over serve those patrons at the bar
-Additional guests came to bar because no one was attending host stand and therefore no one was seating them
Everything seemed just a bit off. Slow bar, delayed food. A little chaotic. The least spicy lamb vindaloo I’ve ever had.
Service was not that great. Received many incorrect items to the table and it took forever to place our order. There was also a clove or some non-etable spice in one of our dishes that was not taken out properly and it tasted awful when I bit into it by accident... kinda ruined it for me. Will not be going here again based on our first experience.
We only got served one drink and nothing else was served after an nearly two hours. They were able to serve every other table and fulfill takeout orders though...
I've never been to India but I've eaten Indian food across North America and Europe and Jaipur is as good as I have had anywhere. Excellent service with recommendations of some southern Indian specialties that we loved. I will be back.
Best Indian restaurant in Chicago. Excellent food, great location, family feel.
The food is excellent but the service was poor. We had a reservation on a Saturday night. Hostess was on the phone taking a phone order and had us wait for 7 minutes before talking to us. We had food wrapped after the dinner and they forgot two of the items...one of which we had only eaten half. Previously we had received a dish which we had not ordered.
No real complaints, I've just had better Indian food in Chicago. The staff was also not entirely sure what dishes belonged to whom when they came out, and one dish came out about 5 minutes before anyone else, which was a little awkward. Not a bad dinner experience, just had higher expectations.
We wanted to love Jaipur and will prob try it again but our visit wasn’t great. Our server was very nice but must have been brand new and didn’t yet know the menu. Even had a “cheat sheet” he pulled out about dishes. In our opinion, that is a Mgmt issue not his fault and he should prob shadow someone for a while before being on his own. We are rather new with Indian food and need assistance with menus as we want something not fried, not too spicy and not too heavy. For example the menu listed chicken malai tikka and chicken tikka with the same description. When I asked what the diff was, he didn’t know, Later found out one has cream cheese and other is drier but the menu makes no mention of cream cheese. So we ordered chicken tikka but unfortunately it was too dry and seemed a bit overcooked. Our other dishes were good tho (another chicken dish and a shrimp dish). Just looked at online menu and it does show the correct description but the one we got in restaurant didn’t. We will wait for service to get a bit more polished and then will try it again. Also those booths with the curtains are nice but the light bulbs are too bright on each side. Otherwise atmosphere is very nice.
Good food at a reasonable price.
I took my father, aunt and uncle for brunch and it was excellent. The service was fantastic and the food portions, price, etc. was great.
Great, authentic Indian food in a beautiful setting.
I'm Indian - and although some of the dishes were "not so bad", overall, it wasn't to mine or my family's taste AT ALL. The mild was too mild and the medium was too spicy. The service was GREAT - but then again, we were the ONLY people at the restaurant at peak dinner time.
I think it is too new a place for the staff to completely wrap their arms around the process and menu.
The front desk and the server were unaware of the valet options. They readily said yes when I asked if they validate valet charges. They don't! We specifically ordered our breads with butter. It came without and they promptly took it back and corrected it. The main vegetable dish came in way before the bread. We had to explain to the server that the vegetable will get cold by the time the bread is served. I don't think he understood that concept, but went into the kitchen and came back with the bread, finally. The worst of all were the cocktails. Exotic and expensive! Arrived after we were done with the appetizers. The bartender/manager came over to our table to ask how it was and we told her that probably she forgot to add the alcohol to the otherwise exotic Indian drink. She tried to convince us she did, which she may have, but we did not taste any. Both cocktails cannot be wrong!
