Jamie's Italian Adelaide
I have a dairy allergy...when i asked the waiter to check with the chef, he rolled his eyes!! Mate, im not asking you to move the pyramids! Im asking you to make sure i go home at the end of the meal and not to the hospital after having anaphylaxis!
Good food, good ambience, average staff. We got everything we ordered, eventually.
For such a beautiful venue it was very disappointing. The food was average (I had heard that things had improved) and the service was ok but slow. Staff were very happy, just not on the ball and when you are sitting next to the cooking area and hear them talking about how one of them is getting a cold - it is not great.
The food was very disappointing. Large amount of pasta in marinara dish and very little seafood - three small mussels and thumb size calamari rings. Steak just average with an abundance of watercress. Truffle oil risotto overpowered by Parmesan. Would neither recommend nor return. Thank goodness for good company.
We have visited Jamie's in Perth many times, and the Adelaide restaurant is just as vibrant and amazing
The food was fantastic. We had the $30, 3 course lunch deal & the sizes of the meals were great. Couldn't finish the main due to the big entrée & if we wanted to get dessert in. Everything was very tasty. Love the old bank that the restaurant is in & fitted out nicely. The service from the young man was attentive but not too in your face. Just the way it should be. Can't fault our dinning experience here.
Service was very goo, starters were superb, Barramundi special excellent, Chicken schnitzel was greasy
We have now been to Jamie's Adelaide twice in three months. On both occasions the food has been excellent... the service however has been very inconsistent.
Jamie's is family friendly and our two boys aged 8 and 10 do feel welcome and enjoy their kids meals.
The level of service you receive seems to depend very much on who is assigned to your table. Drinks not refilled, kids salads forgotten until the end of the meal are just a couple of examples of the "take it or leave it" kind of service.
Arrived at the restaurant to find it closed for renovations despite booking 4 weeks prior for a special occasion.
Great decor. Great staff who were helpful. Only downside was that this was the last night before they closed down and a lot of things we wanted wasn't available.
They offered us a coffee before they closed down the machine at 8pm. And they were packing things up as we were there which meant boxed etc were being packed up around us
Sadly we can't review the dining experience @ Jamie's as such, as we had to leave without being served a meal.
Bar staff were friendly and efficient with drinks at the bar, sat there for about an hour (as we were recommend to come earlier than our booking time due to it being a busy evening).
However we waited for 30 minutes after our confirmed dinner booking time and still hadn't been seated, despite us checking in with staff on several occasions. Understand it was a busy evening due to a major event in the city but had phoned ahead some days before to ensure it was still suitable for us to dine at that time given our commitments after dinner.
Disappointing experience this time.
Really disappointing. Made this booking 3 mths ago as a pre-Adele concert booking. When we arrived we were given an outdoor table (said if we wanted inside they couldn't guarantee we'd be seated at reservation time, which was an issue as we had a concert to go to) but was offered a free round of drinks. Sitting outside was horrible. Waiters forgot about you. We ordered our drinks, entree and mains straight up as conscious of time. Mains arrived first, THEN our drinks THEN Entree.
I can't understand why Jamie's Adelaide still haven't got it together for service.
I was a disappointed diner, the table was not ready at the time ordered and they squeezed 8 on a round table meant for maximum of 6. The food was delivered in a staggered fashion and when I did receive my meal it was just warm. Two of the same dish was ordered but when served they looked and tasted different. All diners were disappointed with the experience. The service was very slow, I will not return and I think Jamie Oliver would be upset if he knew he name is associated with this restaurant.
Lots of issues :(
1. The advertised super lunch 2/3 course special was not available due to the public holiday (13/3/17)even though it clearly stated on the website and was what we had booked in for. This is false advertising!
2. There was no Beer! The beer lines were frozen with the only alternative being warm bottled peroni.
4. Very long wait times at the bar!
5. Not all menu items available.
6. waitress couldn't do math when splitting final bill.
And more, no space to write the rest!
Poor food, service ok, over charged us, wouldn't go again
Service was quiet slow, given how busy it was this was understandable. Food was good, the portions were different from last time but still very tasty. Thank you
Pleasant surroundings & atmosphere
Very busy but the service was great and food was good.
The Entre Squid was excellent as well as the Dessert Cheesecake.
We also had an espresso martini which was excellent
Food was very poor, but architecture was very nice.
All the food was very poor when I went on 11 March 2017. The pasta was hard and chewy, the meat was tough to cut through. A basic cafe does better food. I went to Jamie's Italian in Canberra, ACT about 5 years ago and that was fantastic. It is a shame the Adelaide one is not good. Only been to the Adelaide one once and will not go back because of this experience.
The architecture is very nice and was the only positive about the dining experience.
Nice food, great service. Wobbly table, drinking water tasted of chlorine (not filtered?) Overall good dining experience.
We were advised that the kitchen had run out of the following: Bruschetta, Arancini, Garlic Bread and the Bread Basket so our starter options were very limited and we were disappointed from the start.
I understand it's a busy long weekend but the kitchen should be prepared and if running low, someone should have attempted to get more stock.
Firstly, the kids mini burgers. The meat pattie was the size of a 20 cent piece less than half the size of the mini burger bun. There was no tomato sauce nor butter or mayo in the bun so plain as. I had to ask 3 times to two 2 different servers before we got a side little dish of sauce and mayo. The salt and pepper squid entre had 5 pieces. So little for what you pay. And we asked for the bill 3 times then had to go up & get it. Service has not been this bad before a I have been before.
Alex our waiter was awesome. Same with the bar staff. Exceptional service.
We went here for my daughter's birthday as a special occasion & really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great & food was really nice.
I cannot fault the food and service. The staff were so good, attentive but not overly so. The food was super delicious, generous and fresh. Love the decor, but felt noisy, although we could still hear one another, so probably better than it seemed. For such a busy restaurant we never felt rushed, and everyone seemed to know what was going on at your table, very organised. Can't wait to go back.

We Didn't find the experience overly enjoyable. Food had very little flavor; the pumpkin and spinach Rotolo was a huge disappointment. Our waitress was friendly but seemed over-worked, resulting in a lack of attention to our orders. There was a mix up with our drink order which was remedied but took quite a long time for the correct drinks to be brought back to us. After dinner when the restaurant had started to calm down, we decided to order dessert. We were given menus, however the waiter serving us never returned which meant we had to flag someone down. We very quickly got the impression this was inconvenient for him. Again the dessert was dismal. Tiramasu was watery and tasted like it had sat for too long. Overall I rate our experience very low. I feel with what Italian restaurants Adelaide has to offer, Jaime's needs to step up their game.
Such poor service that we left without ordering. We requested 2 items from the menu and were told we couldn't order them. The waitress didn't seem to understand that we were ordering food that was on the menu, wouldn't listen and said we'd have to talk to the manager.
For a nice lunch with the family things weren't going well. We got up to leave and were asked why we were leaving. I explained that we were told we couldn't order from the menu and therefore we would go elsewhere. just don't go.
Third time we have visited Jamie's. Food as always was excellent, but the staffing let it down. They were friendly but seemed stressed & rushed, took ages to get our drinks, had to ask for water several times, it was hard to get anyone's attention. We had a waitress who introduced herself initially but didn't deal with us, she took our order for coffee but forget & had to be reminded, which was annoying as we were heading to the movies, a bit disappointing.
Ambience of brasserie, prompt attentive service,food above average and excellent, good value house wine. ( Is the Jamie's house red available retail?) The patronage reflected the quality of the establishment.
Thoroughly enjoyable food.
Authentic cuisine - which is very rare these days.
The staff were very friendly & informative.
Excellant carbonara and chocolate dessert. Waitress hopeless, forgot to place orders for food. took an hour to get meals and then forgot drink order again. . Maitre'de sorted it out efficently.
Andrew and I went there with friends on the Clipsal weekend the building is just beautiful and the food was great
The food is amazing and the customer service is excellrnt.
Our server was extremely attentive. He answered all my questions and was able to recommend food and drinks. He really made our night special. I believe his name was Alex.
