Javier's - La Jolla
Delicious and good service and atmosphere
For a high end restaurant would have expected more from the food. My wife salad was just OK, had no flavor. My fajitas were good but was served with store bought tortillas. Also, they need to be more aware of peanut allergies now more common. Although it was in the fine print, my daughter had a reaction from the vanilla ice cream that she ordered that had peanuts but was not aware.
Fun experience. Great table. We like fast service but this was a little too fast overall great!
I specifically requested my food without a certain ingredient because of a food allergy. My meal came with the ingredient. It took 30 minutes to bring out another dish. By that time my guest ate his meal because it was getting cold. The manager refused to comp my meal or even offer a discount or a complimentary dessert. Rather he offered to give me his card so that the next time I am there he will provide “excellent service.” I declined his offer because excellent service should not have to be requested. I canceled a reservation for 17 people for a client dinner.
Mother In Laws Birthday!
We had a good experience. The food was excellent but expensive. It's a very noisy place and it's hard to carry on a conversation. Turning down the music volume would help some but overall the acoustics in the restaurant are poor.
It is definitely a louder than average venue but with JUST the right amount of volume in terms of music and conversation. Javiers La Jolla has an incredible vibe l, great service, and delicious food. I’m an omnivore but can’t get enough of their vegetable/zucchini tacos! Absolutely delicious. Also had a bite of my husband’s shrimp plate soaked in butter and it may have literally melted in my mouth. Cost is not cheap but well worth it for a special occasion. Love this place ❤️
The ambiance was amazing , staff was attentive , food ranged from good to bland, 2 dishes came cold .
5 of us were there for an 85th bday - ordered nothing outrageous
And the bill was over $450-
This is the second Sunday my husband and myself spend with you guys within 3 weeks. This time we brought friends along. We met the manager Josh our 1st visit, he is amazing. He truly wants all patrons to have a great time. It was great to see a manager working his butt off along the side of all his servers. Most places managers just stand around until they are requested. Not Josh he’s introducing himself and making sure you have all you need. Impressive. It’s a bit pricey, but the food and drinks are great, and the service even better!
Arrived early for our reservation so after checking in with hostess, 3 of us sat at outdoor lounge tables waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. There were empty tables so this section wasn't too busy. We patiently waited for a server to order drinks but none came over. After about 15/20 mins, a bus boy (?) approached and we asked to order drinks. He was kind enough to send someone over. In my OpenTable reservation, I'd mentioned we were excited to introduce our friends to Javier's. In the end, we had to wait to be seated beyond our reservation time and then at a table closest to the kitchen doors. Javier's is an awesome place but I wasn't over the moon about our service that evening.
The food was amazing, Evelyn was very attentive. It was pretty overpriced and somehow not sure if it was on OpenTable or not it was not made known that we were celebrating a birthday even though we specifically put it in our reservation with OpenTable. The music was REALLY loud, I couldn't hear the server or the person I was sitting across from.
Great food and great margarita! Get the Organica! Service was top notch.
Service and atmosphere were amazing! Our family had a wonderful time.
Outstanding food, but on the pricey side. Nice ambiance.
We had a table for four women celebrating 2 birthdays. Birthday dessert was offered without asking!
Took my husband there for his birthday dinner, I must tell you it’s a very nice restaurant. Food and cocktails are mediocre. Service was excellent. Noise level was extremely loud not only do you have to yell to have conversation with even you are literally sitting right next to each other.
Absolutely beautiful, but *very* loud. My husband and I had a hard time hearing it. The food was excellent with the exception of the guacamole, which we found to be very under-seasoned. Javier’s margarita was very good. Casa margarita was average. They have a separate vegetarian/vegan menu if you ask for it.
Fenomenal el servicio y la comida asi como el ambiente
Went to Javier’s for the first time after a movie at Arclight and celebrated our anniversary. Walking into the restaurant we were struck by the beautiful decor and ambiance- although Mexican decor almost seemed Moroccan style. Jaimie our waiter was excellent, with menu suggestions that were fabulous and was very personable and attentive. Our food was delicious and authentic- we enjoyed mole chicken and a seafood medley with Chile relleno, taco and enchilada. Highly recommend our choices and Javier’s for special occasion or to bring friends.
The good is not that good.
The tacos were not fresh.
The meat was pre-cooked and dry.
The recommendations of the waiter were spot on in terms of the beverages and entrees. The food and service were excellent. Everyone on our table was very happy with what they ordered.
Everything was wonderful service and food.
Everything was outstanding! Food, service but kinda pricey!! It was worth it!
Food and drinks were good. Prices were high. Wish that they had a happy hour. Ambiance was amazing so I guess that is what you were mainly paying for. Loved the chips , guacamole and salsa.
Get together with some of our new neighbors. The setting is beautiful, it’s obvious the designer for Javiers went above & beyond! The food is all delicious and the drinks, Javiers house margaritas, were delicious. Thanks to the staff at Javiers for making our friends night out something special to start our neighborhood - friendships with. Everyone had a memorable time!
The food is absolutely amazing! We were well taken care of from start to finish! Probably one if the best affordable restaurants in San Diego!
Woy too expensive although the food is good. Louder than a rock concert with an eclectic...make that bazaar mix of Latin and disco. Reception was cluttered and Luke warm. Chaotic describes it but it was packed. And the valet is ridiculous. Definitely will NOT be back.
Very cool atmosphere - great food and service! And loved the house margarita
Birthday celebration was awesome. Service was attentive and very friendly. So many food choices, can’t wait to go back and try other entrees. Love the open ambiance especially for San Diego!
Service was a little slow, but it was early so maybe the kitchen wasn't fully staffed at the time
who knew Mexican food could be so fancy! The Cuisine was delicious and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. A bit loud for a Tuesday night, almost had a club vibe. Service was good and timely.
Third time visiting Javier's in a month, love this place. Food and service is amazing, the interior design is out of this world
The ambiance decor and drinks are awesome. The wait staff is terrific! The food is tasty but pricey. In SD great affordable Mexican food is everywhere, so a restaurant would have to do something outstanding to rationalize the high prices.
Food was awesome and service was great Definitely a place you shouldn't miss if you want good mexican food in an upscale environment
Great place. Very nice
The ambiance is nice here but way too loud. I couldn’t hear my friend talk next to me. The food isn’t great, and especially for the price I would not go back.
Awesome atmosphere but very expensive considering it is Mexican food. The food was good; just not a great value.
Great meal for a bday treat . Wish they did a bday candle in the dessert 🍨.
