Staff was so nice to us and good was amazing. We can on the night the chef who makes the best scallops in town was in and was phenomenal
We really enjoyed our meals. Husband had the seared scallops, I had the Chicken Royals, they were both delicious. Would definitely eat there again.
We had an amazing time. Our server Taylor was so sweet and helped us celebrate our engagement. She made the experience 100% better. The overall experience was lovely the atmosphere as well as the sun setting view was to die for. This is a must go for a fun and fancy night out.
The chicken burger was nothing fancy. Overcooked and the bun was cooked also. That was it - besides lettuce and a tomato/onions. No dressing or fancy toppings. I dunked it in my coleslaw otherwise it would have been a dry sandwich to force down.
This is a must stop in Duluth! Coolest place I have ever been and has great food! Waiter Tony served us well
Slow service. Incorrect order. Food was bland. But the atmosphere was amazing.
A great place - quieter than many places and service was very good. Portions on some items a little skimpy - like scrambled eggs - so just ask for more when that happens.
Overall much better than a Perkins or place like that.
Wonderful views and place to eat! The poor part of our visit was terrible service by the waiters and waitresses. There was one waiter who was positive and upbeat.
Had an excellent dinner a few days earlier but this breakfast was just awful. Not the quality I would expect. Eggs tasted artificial, dry cold toast with no butter, watery coffee, etc. not even real cream for coffee. Wait staff clearly untrained.
Food was wonderful and our waitress Candice was fun as well!
Service was great and food was amazing!
Waiter was great! The food was much better than in previous visits, however, the quality of steak (9oz) was moderate. The price should commiserate with the quality. The facility was a little run down too. (Ex. Peeling wallpaper, dirty windows, peeling window tint). Overall it was much improved since 2 years ago!
The view, of course, is excellent. The food was outstanding, too. The best part of the experience was our waiter, Tony. Friendly, great service, and very knowledgeable about Duluth and what we were seeing out the windows. Excellent experience overall!
Good friendly staff, great views, fod was great.
Celebrating my Grad School Graduation
Delicious food and beautiful view! We would love to come back next time we’re in town.
Was disappointed with mushroom risotto. Sin frites was the best dish we had.
Food was terrible but our waiter was great
The food was fantastic and our server Mindy was amazing, we love eating at JJAstor!!! :o)
51 year Anniversary Date! (delayed a year by Covid) Has been many years since our last romantic visit at the top of this scenic restaurant! Food and service was good, our meal could have been hotter. The views were as spectacular, which made this into a most memorable and romantic evening!
Been here before and theres been a steady decline in overall quality and service. Noise level was high but not in a good way!
My server herself was not the problem but everything else was very poor at best.
Shrimp appetizer was bad
Prime rib ordered medium was raw.
Walleye was excellent
The food tasted old and the prices were ridiculous for the poor quality. Had to have been a new short order cook putting that meal together. Very disappointed.
The food was amazing! Service was fantastic! Overall a very nice restaurant
Our friends enjoyed their meals and we were happy for them.
Staff was excellent. Food selection was limited. Only one vegan option.
The view was beautiful, but the food was mediocre at best and very overpriced.
The omelets we had lacked flavor from being overcooked. A shame because you nailed everything else.
I will recommend it only after you get better chefs. The taste of food is important as the ambience.
We loved the food, view is amazing and our service was great. Thanks.
Great experience- good good clean and quiet atmosphere!
Our waitress was helpful, informative and amazing. When we come back we would love to have her be our server again.
Still a fun venue. The food and service are high quality. The view is amazing.
Overall, it was good. It was prom night, so it was quite noisy.
Very good. We had the Prime Rib and Stuffed Salmon specials and they were delicious.
Wonderful views, awesome service! Would definitely go again, cannot recommend enough for a fancy night out!
I had the meatloaf dinner. While the portion was more than ample. You piled the meat and potatoes on top of the vegetables. While having nice flavor, it was a little dry and could have used some more gravy. The buns were over done. While not burnt, they overly hard and crispy.
My girlfriend's Filet was cooked perfectly. Wasn't fond over the overall sweetness and took away from the flavor of the Filet.
My wife had a garden salad and the fillet mignon, and I had a Greek salad and the seafood platter. Both meals were excellent. For dessert, she had the tiramisù and I had the bread pudding a la mode. Service was fantastic. The maître d' had my requested bottle of wine ready from my reservation notes as soon as we were seated, providing a wonderful surprise for my wife. The atmosphere is charming, and tables were adequately spaced for social distancing. The view from this revolving restaurant--the only such establishment in Minnesota--was marvelous, allowing us to take in the entirity of the city and harbor from the 16th floor at sunset.
The only complaint I have is relatively minor--not enough to prevent me from returning. My dessert, bread pudding a la mode, was disappointing in two regards. First and foremost, the texture of the so-called pudding was all wrong. Rather than being a moist amalgam of various bread chunks, it was a firm, solid mass much more like a quick-bread (e.g., banana bread). In fact, though served in slices, it very clearly had the shape of a traditional raised loaf. It was far more of a cake/loaf than a pudding. The other disappointment was the portion size--it was relatively large (the size of a small loaf pan) and served with two scoops of ice cream. I'm sure there are some out there who could put it all away, but with how dry and firm the loaf was, it just didn't go down that easy. That dessert is the reason why I gave the food four instead of five stars.
We had a delightful meal at JJ Astor with excellent service. The Chicken Royale was delicious and the break pudding outstanding. What a view! We'll be back!
Waiter was excellent, view was great.
Overall service was okay and food was poor. Ribs tasted like very dry chicken and walleye was soggy. Wouldn't go back or recommend to a friend, especially for the price.
Fabulous view of Lake Superior and the hillside as the restaurant revolves. Lovely, interesting menu and great service. Decor is a little worn.
