We had reservations for 2 on a Thursday night that were made through OpenTable. I added a special request for a more quiet, cozy table. We showed up about 5 min early and were seated right away at a cute little table by the giant fireplace. We ordered steak with mushrooms, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were perfectly done and tasted amazing. The potatoes and grilled asparagus were very good. The mushrooms were okay but lacked the seasoning/flavor you’d expect from a good steakhouse. Waitress was lovely. We had a ton more food than we could eat (leftovers!) and it was very relaxing. Overall, a top recommendation in the area.
First visit was excellent in all ways from the greeting to bar experience and dinner was excellent. Only a small issue with missing an appetizer but the server was very new so it was understandable. We will go back for sure and tell everyone how great it was.
Johnny Manhattan's is an oasis in Washington County. On this particular Saturday night, the place was jumping. We had a couple of cocktails at their beautiful and classic bar before dinner. The bar was very busy, but the staff was efficient and we never had to wait to be served. Cocktails and the beer and wine selection was exactly what we expect at a classic supper club. We were summoned to our table at the exact time of our reservation, which surprised us on this very busy night. I had the Prime Rib, my wife had a special steak called the Manhattan. Both were fantastic. We'll be back.
Very good business dinner. Wish you were open on Sundays, especially during the holidays and Summer
We love the pizza. Such a nice atmosphere. The old fashions are good. Waitress and hostess were very nice and accommodating. Pizza is the best value for your money. It is thin and crispy!
Excellent restaurant. Very clean food was amazing. Our waiter was struggling but the restaurant informed us up front that they were short handed that day.
Had a great meal for 4 of us. I had the Bluegill Fish Fry special. Incredibly good breading. Nice and crisp. The wives each had lasagna, my buddy had the Prime twin pork chops. Our waitress Margo, was a great waitress, with a good sense of humor and very knowledgeable on the menu items, even borrowing a dish from a nearby diner to show us what it looked like. These people said they had eaten there for many years and never had a bad meal. Guy from that table said the lasagna was to die for and showed it to us which prompted the ladies to both order it. Also, their favorite waitress was Margo who is now our favorite too. She recommended the pork chops be ordered prepared 1 of each method breaded and broiled. My buddy loved them along with a very good potato dish. The ladies loved their lasagna. They each took home more than half. I tried it and it was excellent. All in all had a great meal and a good time with our new waitress Margo who is a bit of an older gal with a wry sense of humor. We all loved her. Our prior favorite waiter Allen, whom we adored, bought the Chiselled Grape Winery in Cedarburg, so we will be heading there soon to reconnect with him. Try Johnny Manhattan's, you will love it. The other couple with us drove 30 miles from Franklin to dine here with us. They said it was well worth the drive. We will be back soon.
We went for an anniversary dinner and it was our first visit. We were pleasantly surprised by Johnny Manhattan's. The food and service were great! It is a very pleasant, warm and charming restaurant.
Service was good, maybe a little too often, but our ladies had trouble choosing
Food for some was good for my wife her food was cold , For me the crust was so thin it broke when you
tried to pick up a piece of pizza.
Johnny Manhattan’s is the perfect place to take out of town guests or local friends. Everything is excellent. You can have a celebration dinner or a not expensive friendly meal; always of great quality.
love the atmosphere and food....service a little slow but we understood that it would be....a bit noisy since we came at a later time than before....
The food is excellent, the service is always great! Great place for personal or business dinners! I highly recommend it!
Our waitress was extremely rude and belittled us every time she came to our table. She was an older woman with blonde short hair. In one instance, we asked her to remove the bread from our very small table and she refused saying that we’d want it later. We didn’t eat any of it. It continued to take up space all through the dinner. Needless to say she’s in the wrong business and should not be serving people with the attitude that she has. Her attitude made the evening uncomfortable and annoying. They are also severely understaffed right now. So paying for drinks at the bar took way too long and service felt rushed and lacking personality. Quite a few things went wrong and I don’t have the word capacity to go through it all. The ambiance and the food were pretty much the only redeeming qualities. Disappointing...
We had plans to dine here for a romantic birthday dinner. Even indicated in the reservation that this was for a special occasion birthday. Having dined here before, this was our choice. Instead of the main dining room we were taken to a small back room to a shared bench and very small table. No privacy, loud and not comfortable at all. Instead of a nice dinner, we opted for just salads and a pizza. Was not even offered a desert menu. Just rushed through. Will not be back.
Johnny’s is always outstanding. The waitstaff is very friendly.
Beautiful decor. Waitress was friendly but why “no problem” as a response? Happened a total of ten times!
NY strip ordered medium well, came out medium rare ... taste was fine. Odd mushrooms accompanying the steak.. seemed old, texture rubbery. Baked potatoes excellent.
For the price, the expectation was not met.
Overall our experience was very good. The salads (1/2) portion were very tasty and of a good size. Wine menu was diverse and reasonably priced (2x retail). I had the fillet which was outstanding and my wife had the ribeye which was good but pretty fatty.. Normally we very much enjoy ribeyes but this was a bit fattier than a typical prime cut..
We will go back and try it agin sometime.
Had a great room for family and 15 month old to not have to sit in high chair all the time we were there.
We were celebrating our sons 30th bday! They had never been there before and we will all be back! Great food, great service, great place! Thank you!
We really like this place. We think it has the best shrimp cocktail around. They also have a nice wine list. We got their scallops, which is on their “specials” menu, but I think it’s always a special. The clam chowder is also excellent. To me, the only difference between this place and Eddie Martini’s is the staff. Our waitress struggled to open the wine bottle. This isn’t the first time we noticed this there. I think somehow they need to give their wait staff an opportunity to practice.
Great job! We will be back again.
It’s the service ... then the food ... then ambiance... then price. JM “gets it”
Great food and ambiance!
Unique menu with weekly specials. Food is beautifully presented and prepared to diners' requests. Lovely atmosphere and large bar area.
My wife and I both ordered the Gorgonzola topped strip steak which was on special for $38 each. They were very well presented but we both ordered them medium rare and they both came out more medium to medium well. The flavor was very good but they were just a little overdone. I don’t want to harp on it too much because we’ve gone there quite a bit and always enjoyed it. We are definitely going to give it another try. Also they had a card size notice stapled to their menus that they were low on staff and there may be longer than normal waits for things. That was true however the staff that was there was very cordial and helpful. Absolutely what you expect from the staff for what you pay at the restaurant. Will be back for sure
Beautiful atmosphere, great food and amazing wait staff. We had a great time
Traditional Wisconsin Super Club redone with outstanding up-to-date décor. Bar is roomy and a great place to have a drink before dinner.
Super Club menu featuring steaks, chops and seafood pulse a nice selection of pasta dishes and pizza.
We met another couple and had a very comfortable both - ideal for pleasant conversation.
We were greeted so nicely by the manager when we first arrived. She checked on us periodically during our meal to make all was well! Such a nice touch!
Was very good , the steak I had was done to perfection . Friends had the Bluegill and commented how good it was. Love the atmosphere and the memorabilia of days gone by. Will for sure come back.
It didn't have that old style Supper Club feel. The relish tray was extremely small...3 radishes2 black olives a green onion 2 celery sticks. No bread sticks. Very pricey. I can tell people I was there, but probably won't go back.
The staff made us feel welcome from the time we arrived until we left. Can't say enough good things about the service. Our server, though a trainee was very professional. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection and my wife had a veal dinner that she thought was excellent. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience. We most certainly will go back.
Very enjoyable and the lamb was wonderful! We will be back!
We have been twice before and really enjoyed. This time service was bad and food mediocre
Johnny Manhattan's consistently has good food. However they are short on wait staff and the service was slow. We went on a Friday and a week prior we asked for a separate room and we were told they would honor our request. When we arrived they told us the room was not available because some of the "regulars" requested the room. It was extremely busy and even though we had reservations, we had to wait. The food was very good but the kitchen forgot to include a potato with the order and it took a long time to get coffee and the potato. The waitress was very nice and very apologetic and gave us a free desert and did not charge for the coffee. There is a notice on the menu stating they are experiencing a staff shortage and asked for everyone's patience. The food was very good but I suggest not going on a Friday or Saturday evening.
A bit pricey for 'fish fry'. Batter used for the haddock was not crispy.
Nice ambiance, great food. What more needs to be said
Our waiter, Noah, was amazing. Food was good as always. Only problem is that the main dining room is fairly loud
Quality of the food was poor. Pasta and steak were VERY salty and the Halibut was very dry. The salads were good.
The restaurant was extremely noisy so much so we couldn’t hear each other at our table. There was a notice on the menu to expect delays in service due to a shortage of staff. This too was a problem but our server seem to be doing the best she could.
We will not be returning.
