Recommended to me by a local, this place is super awesome unpretentious izakaya. Worth every penny!
Always have a fantastic time here. The service is so great and they are all really friendly . The food is exceptional . Love the casual atmosphere. Very relaxed but excellent value .
We were skiing up north and this restaurant was recommended buy one of our ski partners who resides in Hong Kong. He said it was his favorite restaurant in Tokyo and now I understand why. It was a great scene and amazing food. The staff was over the top and cared for all of our request. I highly recommend the restaurant.
It was an amazing izakaya experience with the most fresh fish we had in times!! Really good menu and atmosphere! And good saké!
Always amazing everything. I visit every year I’m in Japan!
Everything about this place is special and fantastic. Both times I have visited it did not disappoint. The staff is fun, attentive, and helpful. The food is incredible. The tasting menus offer a great value for money as they will leave you completely stuffed. Would recommend to anyone who loves seafood in a unique, vibrant atmosphere.
Great food and hospitality. Friendly service and chill environment. Great for gatherings.
Great food, customer service, and atmosphere. I always order the course and always satisfy my guests and myself. It's also fun to look around inside and outside of the store for the stickers and autographs from many famous people from fashion, skate, and surf industries.
Great experience! Great service and amazing food! Staff can speak very well english :)
They serve 3 types set dinner (includes starts, mains, and desert) and A La Cart menu. And we order the basic set dinner
Delicious 10 course meal! Will definitely be recommending Kaikaya to my friends who visit Japan!
2nd time at Kaikaya By The Sea and would always recommend friends to go when they're visiting Tokyo. Be prepared for amazing food in a noisy bar/pub setting. Amazing place for a night out with friends. Do make reservations to avoid disappointment, especially if you have a big group.
Superb food. Would come back every time we visit Tokyo.
Initially we were just restricted to the course menu but fortunately we could order ala carte eventually which allowed us to tried more variety of food! Hope the restaurant can be more flexible in future so we can enjoy the great food there !
For me too turistic, I appreciate more places which are more quite and true to the Japanese culture.
Nevertheless you can enjoy a nice dinner.
The portions are big. Set menu is only for 2 person
Amazing experience - the Carpaccio was incredible, as was the service.
This restaurant is straight gas and I recommend going here with friends, don’t eat alone here as it’s meant to eat with friends or family
The food is amazing! The atmosphere is so energized that we had a hard time talking about it to one another, though, in our group of 6 adults. We were impressed from the first bite, an incredible tofu custard-like dish. We also loved the "spare ribs" and the sushi, especially since we had just spent the day in Tskiji. It is a small place, and very noisy, with a lot of non-Japanese, which surprised us.
Friendly served in a rapid manner, and well globalized (all waiters speak English). Recommend every international guests. Enjoy sashimi, sake, and modern Japanese cuisine.
Love the friendly staff and food, tho we we had a not so fresh Grillled fish - which was mush to the bite and not flaky like usual. Also be ready to smell like the restaurant! 😜 Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎄
Amazing time. Loved the environment and the food was delicious.
It was vibrant, colourful and exciting. Everything was so good and tasty and the choice of sake was amazing too. Service was very friendly and guests like to mingle and one cannot be too shy to share drink and food and chitchat. The location was a bit remote but it was worth every step of the walk.
Really nice restaurant
The food is outstanding and the staff is very nice
I’d repeat without doubt
Great spot for dinner with friends. Most of what we ordered was excellent. The staff were all friendly and engaging. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. My only quibble was that a certain appetizer was brought to our table that we didn't order. We thought they were on the house, but apparently it was charged to our bill. Other than that, it's hard to fault the place. I would return and recommend to family and friends.
Wonderful people, great vibe and an incredible meal.
Great food and brilliant ambience. Highly recommended. Make sure to book in advance
We ate at Kaikaya twice when we were in Tokyo. Unlike any other restaurant we have been to anywhere else. The food is unparalleled, the atmosphere is brilliant and the staff are hilarious. Must try if you are in Tokyo.
Fantastic food and sake !!!
Definitely go if you are in Tokyo!!
Fish like never est before. Gréât experience, will Côme back
Great place for a date. Vibrant atmosphere and staff. Casual and cozy.
The restaurant is packed and noisy. But that was what we have expected. Staffs were friendly and energetic! They have prepared a surprise dessert for my birthday which was very impressive!
Consistently very good.
Great food and atmosphere. Been there a few times and make it a sure visit every time we're in Tokyo. Definitely recommend it!
Awesome place.. awesome food. This is a must visit if you can get a table!
This is a loud, vibrant restaurant, where the food is delicious, varied, fresh, and the service is great. Large groups (4 or more) are best. (Not a venue for a quiet meal for 2). Stand out dishes were the fish carpaccio and the Tuna Jaw (OMG!)
Great location for food, meeting new people and just enjoying the atmosphere in Shibuya. Consistently packed with people.
I booked Kaikaya as a birthday present for my girlfriend, while we were in Tokyo. I am gluten intolerant so was delighted to find somewhere so good that could cater for me. I informed the restaurant of my dietary requirements when booking the table and phoned up a week in advance as it says on the website they need at least 48 hours to accommodate those with special requirements. I then also received an email saying they were aware of my gluten intolerance.
However, when we arrived at the restaurant the staff didn’t seem to be aware I was gluten intolerant. Given I had needed to give them notice I thought they would be able to adapt dishes but that was not the case and we were even told we couldn’t have the sashimi because they didn’t have any gluten free soy sauce for dipping. Our excellent host did offer to go and buy some but I didn’t feel comfortable making him do that. The dishes we had were delicious but we were very restricted in what we could order. I would definitely recommend Kaikaya to friends without dietary requirements but was left a little frustrated by our experience as I had been looking forward to eating there for months. I appreciate it’s difficult to cater for everyone but assumed the whole point of giving them notice was so they could prepare certain amendments.
The experience wasn’t helped by the fact it seemed our table had been given away (my name was already ringed on the list) even though we arrived early.
Good food. Good vibe and ambiance. Good staff. Would recommend it because it is something different and worth the try. And if it suits your taste, you would definitely come back. I would!
