Excellent seafood! Outstanding cuisine in a very fun and cozy enviroment. They gave us extraordinary recommendations and we wouldn’t hesitate coming back. Thank you!!!
The seven of us chose the middle priced set menu, great food, great ambience, we would highly recommended it.
Beyond amazing seafood, especially considering the price. We had a perfect dinner.
Excellent seafood, sake, and ambience. Great service too! Very enjoyable place to dine in.
Our favorite Tokyo fish restaurant. Been coming here for over 10 years.
Absolutely amazing food with great staff that make the experience super enjoyable
Amazing restaurant, I highly recommend it -Love from Montreal, Canada
One of the best meals we had while visiting Tokyo! The chef’s tasting menu is a great value and they have an awesome sake list. Staff is very friendly.
Great, boisterous atmosphere and a very attentive staff who happily catered to my soy sauce allergy, which is a hard thing in Japan. The food was outstanding, with the highlight being two lightly fried whole sea bream that we were sad to finish.
This spot is a fish focused izakaya and is a fun and lively place. They are tourist friendly so you'll see a mix of locals and visitors. They speak enough English to help you. The price can't be beat - about $30-35 for the 'small' complete menu - about 7-8 courses and they are not super small. Its a hearty meal and delicious. We went twice in our 8 days in Tokyo and brought friends the second time...they loved it too. The fish is super fresh - I'm picky about this and not one item in both visits wasn 't uber fresh.
Sweet spot. Great food and ambiance
The service was great, the food delicious and the place was pretty cool
Kaikaya is a really lovely lively restaurant. The tuna tartare is outstanding and definitely our favourite.
But highly recommend if you want a fun evening
Great food and service. Staff were awesome!
We had the Tuna jaw which was fantastic.
The food was outstanding, however it took us 2.5hours to have our meal as the kitchen was very slow.
Food quality is very average. Disappointed as it was good 10 years ago. The chef seems to be resting on his laurels. All I can say is that it is value for money.
We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated for our 8.30pm reservation. There were many other waiting groups in the same situation.
I’m not sure why the restaurant doesn’t explain to the earlier table seating that the table has 2 reservation slots & there is a finish time on the earlier reservation.
Or just make the second seating at 9pm
When we did sit down food was excellent & Kaikaya does not disappoint.
It was my 5th time visiting here. I understand kaikaya has been popular especially among none Japanese visitors, they are always very busy. It is potty to write here that the service was poorly done this time. I did made a reservation for 4 ppl but they only had table for 2 ppl. After waiting over 15 mins, we finally got inside of the restaurant, also it took 15 mins to receive first drink. I saw other tables who came in later then us got served. We just ordered a bottle of wine, they could have just leave us a bottle and glasses. Food is amazing as usual, I still recommend my friends to go here but you might experience poor service due to its popularity.
Amazing food. Inventive and modern fusion of Japanese and European food, high quality fish and superb atmosphere around the kitchen-bar in the smoking section which I’d recommend for the ambience even if you’re not a smoker!! Have recommended to all since we visited, we will return on our next trip to tokyo for sure. Five stars.
This is a 3-4 hrs dining experience if you order the set menu. Service is good and they are polite but it is verrryyy slow. The seating is also not comfortable which is what probably adds to the bad experience. Again food was good but I think this was highlyyyy overrated. Value for money but not time. Note that this was with a reservation...I'm sure a walk in experience is even worse.
Good sake selection. Fresh and yummy fatty tuna, squid, yellow tail. Warm hearted service from the staff. Great strawberry dessert.
I was on holiday in Japan and visited this restaurant twice, both times didn't disappoint, food was fantastic!
The food was excellent and mixes innovation and tradition. The ambiance casual, as Izakayas are. Overall great experience!
Tolles Essen in ungezwungener Atmosphäre. Kellner mit leichten Problemen bei der Menueabfolge: nach dem Dessert gab es nochmal Miesmuscheln mit Knoblauch!!!
Had the tasting menu, which was great from beginning to end. My absolute favorites were the fish and the sakura ice cream.
Great great food! I tried the set menu and every course that came was absolutely delicious. I'll be going again for sure.
Loved everything about the place. Food was magnificent and the vibe created by the staff made it all the more memorable. Will absolutely be back every time we’re in Japan. Oishi desu ne!
We found this place on a whim but with open table got a reservation super easily. The place was empty as we sat to eat right when they opened but it filled up quickly. The staff was friendly/lively and spoke a decent amount of English. They offered great sake choices and we opted for the coursed meal which was incredible. 100% recommended.
We were visitors from New Zealand and friends living in Tokyo had recommended this restaurant. It was a great little spot, really friendly staff and the food was fantastic.
great food and great value - courses are great good for great value.
Good friendly service! One of my favorite places
Food is still great after a 10+ year visit! Must have tuna ribs, tuna tartare, the diy sushi and miso soup! kaikaya has a great vibe, fun and casual.
A wonderful Tokyo culinary experience! Good food and fun atmosphere. We had a lot of fun and would come back again!
This is an absolutely amazing place. Their course meal is really good and quite a good value. If you go here you shouldn't have anything planned for afterwards as the meal will probably last for at least two hours. It's great to go with friends, talk, drink and have fun and just enjoy all the dishes that come.
I was in Tokyo for business and absolutely had to get a dinner in at Kaikaya. Having eaten there for the first time a few months ago, it's now become a must and I look forward to my next trip to Tokyo so I can, once again, indulge in their tuna and Cherry blossom ice cresm!
Friendly service, really good food and reasonably priced.
We loved it as much that we repeat it! We had 2 different suggestions from different friends from Mallorca and it really worth it. The Scallop rissotto is the TOP 1 in Tokyo! Taste it.
