The meal was lovely but lacking in atmosphere on a Thursday lunchtime. It was embarrasing to be presented with a bill for the meal and drinks when the meal had already been settled with a dining experience from OpenTable.

Kyoto is a special place to eat - the owner is friendly and obviously very passionate about his food and happy to discuss where he sources it and the recent new finds he has made and added to the menu. This results in food with a superior quality to anything else in Winchester, although it is a little expensive. It is beautifully plated and a pleasure to eat. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys their food.

Excellent restaurant. Having travel many times to japan, kyoto kitchen serves authentic japanese cuisine with some dishes offering a modern twist. I have been told the menu is due to change at the end of september and I look forward to their new offerings! I Would recommend their salmon sashimi and spider roll. Green tea ice cream is always a treat as well.

Stopped by with my girlfriend on a long drive home. Found online because of the great reviews, I have to say it more than lived up to them! Staff were very friendly, incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the food and drinks.
For us it was pretty much the first time eating Japanese barring the odd chain place. What an amazing introduction! Food was excellent, a great selection and tasted so good!
Price wise, it's not the cheapest, but more than worth it. Similar to tapas style so you can mix and match and share, a little food goes a long way we were stuffed!
We felt a little underdressed for the atmosphere, but it had been a very hot day of driving. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or a quiet date. We will definitely be back with family in the future.

One of our favourite restaurants. The food is always of a high standard. Service was a little bit slow this time when we arrived (or maybe it seemed that way as I was so looking forward to my meal) but as always the meal was amazing!

We had perhaps over inflated our expectations having read this was one of the top 10 Japanese restaurants in the U.K. It was pleasant, the food was nice enough, the staff were attentive. Overall there was nothing we could particularly fault, it just wasn't as stunning as we'd hoped.

We really enjoyed our recent trip to Kyoto Kitchen to celebrate my children exam results. Everything was lovely apart from where we ended up which was in the basement next to the toilets. The decorations are lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful

I'm always a bit apprehensive about going to asian restaurants outside of London (or the Asian countries themselves) but this was a real find. Managed by a lovely Japanese lady who clearly knows what she's doesn't and won't accept anything less than perfection, the dishes were unfailingly tasty and pretty authentic (I've spent several months in Japan over the last few years so I think I'm in a good place to judge). Because of the quality of the ingredients this restaurant uses, it could never be cheap, but I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Excellent food, knowledgable friendly staff. Menu is interesting and does not rely on big plates of noodles and rice bowls to bulk up the selection. All the usual small plates and maki, sashimi and nigiri as well as some more unusual meat and fish dishes. Everything well presented and freshly made. Nicely decorated restaurant that doesn't try to pretend it's in the middle of Tokyo, pleasant ambience. Will certainly be back again soon.

We love Kyoto Kitchen. The owner and her staff are charming and attentive, the food is absolutely delicious and we highly recommend this restaurant.

The food and atmosphere were overall very good. I took my partner to celebrate his birthday who loves Japanese food.

We went for the gourmet menu and all but the poached lobster with foam was amazing. We were even given an extra dish consisting of cherry tea smoked salmon with local wasabi, beautiful, and another condiment, which name I can't remember.

The poached salmon was a huge disappointment! Served with a gloopy sauce and no foam in sight. The lobster was over cooked, stringy and you couldn't taste the lobster for the sauce.

The manager was extremely knowledgeable and clearly loves his job, which was great to see. He made it a special occasion because of his enthusiasm and attentiveness.

Nice restaurant and cosy atmosphere.

Will recommend to friends and colleagues.

We visited at lunchtime on a Wednesday. The restuarant was very quiet so we got a nice table near the window. Reception and service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent - some of the best we've had in Winchester and good value for money. This is one of our favourite restaurants in the area.

Experience was 2nd to none beautiful decor with a calm atmosohere & really friendly staff, we chose the tasting menu for 2, the manager explained each of the dishes when they arrived and even arranged for a dish to be remade when there was an ingredient I have an allergic reaction to. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I wanted a special dining experience as it was my partner's birthday. Kyoto kitchen had a high rating on trip adviser. The food was very good and the atmosphere pleasant. I would definitely recommend my friends visit.

Although we were seated downstairs and it was extremely hot, the service was excellent, the Japanese Gin and Tonic was delicious (as was the Japanese wine). Food was fresh and tasteful and really good. I hope to go back soon.

Lovely food and great service the only slight negative and the reason I marked down on ambiance was that some other diners had taken a very young baby who cried, not the restaurants fault I know but not great to have a young baby in a small place like that after 7pm.

We had an outstanding meal including delicious sea bream sushi and tea-smoked salmon accompanied by freshly-grated locally-grown wasabi.
