Good food. Fun to share. Good price point. Great service
Loud and cramped seating, reservations don’t mean much if you are still forced to wait. City prices in the burbs with mediocre food.
La Tasca is a perennial favorite of ours. The small plate dishes are prepared quickly and always come to the table at the right temperature. The wait staff checks in regularly for the next items we want to order. The food is delicious and the daily specials are interesting. We arrived before 6 pm and were able to take advantage of the weekday happy hour price on drinks.
We had a series of small plates. Some were excellent such as the bacon wrapped figs and some were just so so. We were seated in the bar area despite having reservations. We were seated next to a very drafty window so we asked to be moved into a different room. The seating was somewhat better in the other room. Waitress was excellent and accommodating. Somewhat pricey for what you got.
As always, La Tasca did not disappoint! Surprisingly quiet, but Monday night. Our server was great, food and drinks delicious! We always get our regulars...goat cheese w/marinara, potato bravas, and bacon wrapped dates...then added a few new dishes - all wonderful!
La Tasca always has excellent food and service. The sangria is some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend.
We were disappointed with the food and service, I have been once before and thought it was great. My most recent visit was not as memorable. I'm hoping it was just bad timing. For the price you pay for the small portions, I was hoping the quality of service and product would be better.
Food quality way down from past. Barely resembles tapas any longer.
Dined here with a few friends prior to a Metropolis show. Great option that is just a few steps from the more obvious choices for a pre show or post show meal. We arrived during happy hour, so were able to grab wine and beer at a bargain price, but with a full price taste! We had a few starters :patatas alioli, a meat and cheese platter, and calamari. The garlic potato salad was garlicky cold and tasty. Hands down favorite for our group. We also tried empanadas, a shrimp special in garlic butter, bacon wrapped dates, croquetas de pollo, and baked herbed goat cheese in tomato sauce. All were a decent rendering of familiar favorties. Bacon wrapped dates were my favorite we perfectly tender dates in crispy bacon. Our server was quick, friendly and quick to replace drinks. Might not go out of my way to return but would defiantly eat here if I was in the area again.
The food is awesome, prices are pretty fair, service is fair, venue is nice. I love this place, EXCEPT the noise level. It was almost impossible to visit and was even more difficult to hear the waiter. I know restaurants like it to feel "lively" but it gets ridiculous. Can't we get some soft furnishings, like cushions, drapes, etc. to deaden the noise?
We arrived on time for our 7PM reservation and was told that we would have to wait 45 minutes to be seated. What can I say? We went to another restaurant.
Get organized La Tasca! If you are going to make a reserved party wait 45 minutes beyond the reserved time, offer a free drink or appetizer.
Better yet, run your reservation system on time!
I like the food here, but I would hesitate to trust them again - especially on a Saturday night
Fabulous as usual. We have been going to La Tasca regularly since it opened 1997. Never had bad dish. Always have excellent service. The staff takes less from owners Peter and Danny who are very hands on. In addition to having dinners there we have celebrated multiple special occasions: birthdays, Mother’s Day, anniversaries, retirements, engagement party.
No point in making a reservation. We checked in 5 min prior to our reservation, and had to wait 45 min for a table. Walk-ins got seated faster. The kitchen ran out of several popular plates. We’ve had good experiences here before. Not this time
The food and service was great as it always is. We made a 730 reservation, showed up 5 minutes early and still didn't get a table till 8. It probably would have been longer too except probably 5 couples left that were before us.
We have been coming to La Tasca for many years and it still proves to be a great place eat. It was Valentine's Day weekend so it was a very busy night and the kitchen was slammed but our server, Daphne, was excellent and was always there when we needed her. As a group of four, we ordered a number of the small plates so we could taste a little bit of everything. While all of our dishes were good, our favorites were the crab stuffed shrimp, tomato flatbread, beef tenderloin with fries and the meatballs. The bacon wrapped dates tasted great but were very tiny, we only wished they were bigger or more of them! Most of the dishes are perfect for four to share and each get a bite or two. This works out well when you want to taste as much as possible without getting too full. Overall, the atmosphere is casual and friendly, the pricing is very reasonable and it still proves to be a great place to eat with friends and family after all these years.
Good food. Service slightly slow. Interesting dishes and ambience.
Our server was excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The food was very flavorful. We tried a variety of things and enjoyed it all. Highlights were the stuffed shrimp, goat cheese, and flan.
Our second time there and we overall really like this place. My only two things about it is the sangria is not consistent in flavor from one pitcher to the next and the music is all wrong. I personally think the music should match the ambiance and this is a Spanish tapas style restaurant; the loud pop type music was annoying.
The loud top 40ish music in the back room didn’t really work with the ambiance. We found it very disappointing and while the food was good we cut our visit short and went to another place to finish our dinner out.
The food is great, and Danny (the owner) is always there to talk to the customers. Nice atmosphere - the music was loud in the beginning, but then they turned it down. Great for any occasion!
I had dinner here with a friend of mine (who’s from Chile), who’d never been here, on 2/12/2020 ! I hadn’t dined here in the last 10 or 15 years, so I was curious about how the place was doing! My favorite Barrington High School Spanish teacher, Nancy Riesco, used to be a co-owner of La Tasca back when it first opened in the 1980s or 90s! I remember coming here their opening day and having the most awesome time being reunited with her! Thankfully, the food, service and ambience, after all these decades, are all still GREAT!! We ordered a pitcher of Peach Sangria (they have so many kinds!)and 6 different tapas—grouper, octopus, grilled chorizo & shrimp, trio of 3 sausages(duck, chorizo & lamb), charbroiled lamb chops, & sautéed sea scallops! Everything tasted AWESOME! Our server Angel also did a great job making drink recommendations and making sure our table was cleared accordingly and that the tapas were served at a good pace! We would definitely come back!!
Excellent tapas, drinks and service!
Service was not the best and food was mediocre.
Amazing! Great way to eat dinner with friends. Thanks for the great service. Pura Vita!!!
The food and service at this tapas restaurant is always fantastic! It is our favorite restaurant in Arlington Hts. And it’s always a pleasure talking with either of the Greek American owners Danny or Peter.
Great food and service, but very noise restuarant.
Food is very good and comes out quickly. Love the selection. They were out of a couple of options, but there were many others to choose from. Lots of vegetarian and GF options, which we needed. Had a wait a little bit for our reservation, but nothing too bad. A good, solid choice to eat...good food, good drinks, good service!
First off, we were very disappointed that we had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though we had reservations. And we weren’t the only ones. Our waiter was pleasant and the food came out fairly quickly. We loved the bacon wrapped dates and calamari “steaks” which were cooked to tender perfection. The trio of sausages were tasty with a nice assortment of peppers. The spinach empanada was rather bland. Ditto the stuffed mushrooms. The special shrimp had a nice sauce but they’d been over-cooked a bit. To sum up,the dishes are hit or miss and be prepared to wait even if you have reservations. We’d go back for the dates but not too much else.
Had a nice time, our server, Arturo was very accomodating. Enjoyed the evening.
Good as expected
The menu has something for everyone! We always enjoy going to LaTasca to get the classics on their menu and try new selections.
Family time with fun food. A pitcher of Sangria went well.
Great food and great service
Great place to celebrate New Year's Eve! The food and service were both amazing!
In the past I would've always given LaTasca 5 stars. But this time, it was just okay, especially the service. I was grateful that I was able to get an early, last-minute New Year's Eve reservation. It wasn't very busy for our 5:45 p.m. seating. But our server brought one of the wrong tapas we ordered and I recall she was very distracted when we ordered it. We had to ask for extra lemons more than twice. And she didn't check on us very often. But she was very friendly. Maybe it was because of the holiday. But this visit won't stop me from going back again.
Annual birthday celebration. We always come here.
It all started with a salad that didn't use freshly cut tomatoes. Instead, they were tasteless and seemed to be old. The next two dishes were under-seasoned. The worst part of the meal was the Valencia Pallea. It was honestly the worst dish I've ever had at any restaurant. It was very disappointing, considering my love for Spanish cuisine. It had very large chunks of vagetables and under-seasoned meat. It just seemed like the ingredients were subpar. Cafe Ba Ba Reeba and Tapas Barcelona are a lot better choices for authentic Spanish food.
The food was served too fast and then a huge lag for Paellla! The trout reeked we had to ask to have it taken away - the both adults the table are huge seafood eaters and trout should not smell that bad - no apologies from the staff just removed - extremely noisy I would say not my favorite tapas restaurant in the suburbs .
We appreciated the wine and tapas recommendations. Everything was wonderful!
