Larkins Famous She Crab Soup
Chilean Sea Bass
Shrimp sofrito, onions, bell peppers, applewood smoked bacon, spinach
The food was good and the location is great for outdoor dining. The service however needs to be better. My wife ordered an appetizer and an entree and both came out wrong. Her entree was one of the beet salad’s. The sever even asked questions about it and even repeated it back .... and it still came out wrong. Good but wrong. My wife ordered a Filet mignon but a ribeye was brought to the table. Again, the server had asked, 7 oz or 9 oz? Good news was that it was probably just a screw up at the pass because the filet and side came out 2 mins later. The filet was cooked perfectly. Final complaint, our entrees came out before we were completely finished with appetizers. All in all it was a nice night, so we will give them another shot but at this level of dining and cost, the overall experience needs to be better
Really enjoyed Larkins. Such great food and atmosphere.
We were able to make reservations the day before our business dinner. The drinks were delicious & there was a lovely variety of main courses to choose from to satisfy everyone in our party. It was a lively venue with entertainment just outside of Larkins, but we were able to talk, laugh and enjoy a delightful evening together, with business friends from Nashville to Virginia to Kansas City.
Just ok. Not as good as it has been in the past. Maybe just an off night.
We went to Larkins to celebrate our 40th anniversary and our experience was top notch. Our meal was amazing, the atmosphere perfect and our waiter Brian went above and beyond to make our evening special. Highly recommend Larkins on the River!
Friendly, nice professional staff. Excellent food.
Food was very good!
The front end of the restaurant was very disorganized. We had to wait to be acknowledged for our reservation which was fine. However, it seemed like there was no one in charge and no host(ess). It was like everyone waiting was inconveniencing the staff.
There are many choices in Greenville.
Once we were seated it improved to standard service level, but not what you’d expect from a high end restaurant.
excellent food and service. Could not get to our reserved table for four because prior party way overstayed their table so we had to eat in the bar area. When busy it might be helpful to advise people they need to leave by a certain time.
The food was very good! Definitely try the She Crab soup.
Our server was good, but she seemed inexperienced. She kept forgetting everything she had asked us the previous time she’d been to the table. Had to come back twice and ask us what we’d ordered.
Filet. Like butter. Sooo good.
Nom de plum cocktail. Fantastico
Great location for the peace center events.
Apps came out after meal. Steak was bad quality. Sides we cold too.
Good was outstanding! Excellent service. Our waiter Carl was attentive and personable. We had a show to attend after dinner and he made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and make the show at the Peace Center. My husband had the Filet cooked perfectly and I had the Salmon. We will be back!!!!
We arrived five minutes before reservation and were promptly seated. Waited a bit for drinks. Waitress explained the bar was backed up which can happen. Bacon wrapped scallops were cooked perfectly and delicious, however, it was downhill from there. Our steaks arrived, all ordered med rare. My 9oz fillet looked like a 6 oz fillet and was ok. The ribeye came cooked med well and was returned to the kitchen as was the New York strip which was way over cooked to order. Both steaks were replaced and cooked to med rare, however, again the quality and taste were not there. We have dined at Larkins over the years and have never been dissatisfied until now. Aside from the steaks being just ok at best the sides of loaded baked potato (loaded with sour cream and a couple pieces of bacon) Brussel sprouts and Mac-n-cheese all of which were also just ok. All side portions were much smaller than previous visits. We dined at Larkins last in fall 2020 and had one of the best experiences over all the years. Not sure what happened, but this was disappointing enough for us to take a break for a while.
Overall this was a good experience. The service lacked that special touch one would expect from a “fine” restaurant. I’ve received better service in chain steakhouses at times.
Our granddaughter graduated from Mauldin high school.
I’ve been to Larkin’s many times over the years and to steak places from Atlanta to LA to SF to NY and in-between - Larkin’s was my favorite of them all, even over Bone’s in Atlanta, which for years was hard to beat. However, three years ago or so they lost their key chef and the food went from outstanding to just ‘good.’ It used to be that the steak was amazing and every side had flavor that exploded in your mouth - it was truly a ‘cut above.’ No more. The last several times this is like any other ‘good’ steak place, but nothing special. I’ll be taking a break for now in a search to find the next Larkin of past years. One last note: the service from Ruby was outstanding this trip, but we had an early reservation. They have eliminated the valet parking, which makes parking and dining with extreme seniors much more difficult. Definitely not a five star restaurant anymore.
Met expectations. Will go again
Enjoyed a dinner at Larkins last night. Made reservation late, so had to eat inside which was fine. Had Sea Bass, and it was delicious. Service was sketchy.
Graduation for high school
Not so great. Service was slow at best. Food was ok, some in our party were better than others. I had the filet and it was pretty much flavorless. Our server had a cold or allergy issues and seemed to keep disappearing. Not a great experience at all.
Went here for my husband's birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing, the service was great (Carl was our waiter and he was the best, so attentive). They gave us complementary champagne and a dessert since we were celebrating a birthday. True 5 star restaurants .
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Our server was very good!
Great location and service but the food was just ok.
Anniversary dinner, very nice our waitress was excellent, she asked if it was a special occasion told her anniversary, she gave a nice flute of champagne , then a nice desert free with happy 35th anniversary on the plate in chocolate. Wife had scallops I had a ribeye, both were cooked perfect and taste was great. Will be there again.
Excellent food from the salads to the perfectly cooked steaks. Serenity provided the best service we could ask for.
Best cocktail menu in Greenville, fantastic service and terrific food - the bacon wrapped scallops were perfect!
We ordered an entree and several apps to share. The truffle fries were stale, but warm, almost like reheated or microwaved. The Mac n cheese was flavorless. Neither of us ate more than a few bites of either. The pork chop, while flavorful, was ordered medium, but was served well done. The bacon wrapped scallops were over cooked and served on an extremely hot plate, which cooked them further, or from heat lamp?
While I understand there are challenges with staffing, we were really disappointed. We’ve been here before and loved it, so I hope they can figure things out.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service! Will definitely be returning!
We went to this restaurant because we heard that it had wonderful food. However this is what happened. We sat on a dirty patio that was in need of a good scrubbing and some fresh paint. From the waiter station there was some type of nasty liquid losing from underneath the wall nearby.
We ordered calamari as an appetizer, it was cooked perfectly however it was unseasoned. I don’t count Parmesan cheese as true seasoning.
My soup arrived while I was still eating my appetizer which never should happen in an upscale restaurant. My soup was the best thing of the night, even with the crab shells in it. I was forced to inquire about bread. When it finally arrived I was disappointed because even if it lacked salt. I don’t like a lot of salt, I use less salt than most people. When I go out I expect my food to be properly seasoned with salt and other spices. My entire meal was lacking spice and salt. For dinner we ordered Seabass and mahi-mahi. The menu made you think that you were going to receive upscale fish, this was not true in our case, we received unsalted old fish that was over cooked. Both dinners caused stomach issues.
I have purchased better fish at the grocery store then what I was served in this restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Marcus was great. Amazing dining experience. Perfect way to celebrate our daughter’s high school graduation.
Thank you so much for a lovely evening and delicious meal. We were in town to celebrate a special occasion with family and everything was perfect.
Service was good, but food quality was poor-especially for the price. I had to send my wine back twice because it was warm.
Great service. Three 1/2deviled eggs seemed expensive but were extremely tasty
Ordered steak Med. well and when meal came blood was still running out of steak. Waiting 15 Min. for waitress to come to table to tell her about steak. This was Our Anniversary dinner but will be the last at Larkins on the River!
Celebrated 25th Anniversary yesterday. Food was impeccable. Steak was phenomenal and perfectly cooked. Food overall was off the charts and can't wait to go back. Appreciated the Anniversary dessert on the house.
We waited a long time for our food. My son was done with his appetizer. Another couple that came after us received their food ahead of us. It appeared there was only one waitress for the outdoor seating. The service has gone downhill in my last few visits.
Food and service was outstanding!
Celebrating our sons move to Greenville
If you like spending a lot of money and not getting a lot of flavor Larkin’s on the River is the perfect place! The location was stunning and the dining room was nicely appointed... however that’s the only good I have to say about this restaurant. As someone who loves food I have absolutely no problem spending more money for a great meal. I ordered the 7oz Filet Mignon which alone (with no sides) is $50.00. I understand a good cut aged steak isn’t cheap, but when the flavor is comparable to the local Denny’s it’s straight up highway robbery. Ideally I think this restaurant is the perfect place to take your friends that have far more money than taste... just make sure they’re paying the bill.
Great service in a great location! Food was good, but not great. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, and it was ok. The sides were ok, but not outstanding. I would go back, though. Price was a little high for what you got, but I did enjoy the atmosphere and our service was great
