Lazia

Had such a great experience! All of the food we tried was amazing except for the Caesar salad, which was their version of a Caesar salad. Other than that, atmosphere, service and food was absolutely amazing. We’ll be back!
Aaron and Erin made my night!! My steak was fantastic. Atmosphere is A PLUS.
We met our friends whom we had not seen for a long time at Lazia for dinner. We loved the energy and service of the bar and restaurant. Our meals were ok. Some loved their dishes others were not impressed. Two of us had the lobster pasta and both agreed the lobster was too chewy. Another person was not impressed with his meal also. We will return for another dinner.
Lazia is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Amazing food and impeccable service. Highly, highly recommend Lazia.
Nice place! For the price and quality I would choose other places but its definitely worth a try. We had the porterhouse and requested medium/pink throughout and it was served medium well. Also, sides couldnt be substituted at all. Waitress said there was an upcharge for bread, which seemed ridiculous. Again, good food and great ambiance but not my favorite.
Outstanding!!
We went for my friends birthday and after getting seated it took about 10-15 min for our server to get over to us even though it wasn’t crowded/busy. The two appetizers we ordered (Arancini and Burrata) were both great! The salads and main entrees were just ok/good. Nothing to complain about but also there are much better restaurants in KC to enjoy in my opinion.
It was so wonderful I went back the next night
The food was okay. I wasn’t amazed. I really enjoyed the ambiance. There were a lot of drunk people being pretty loud. When we walked up to the host station there was a drunk woman on the floor that had fallen out of her seat. Our food was okay but just very tiny portions for the price. I probably wouldn’t rush back.
Great dinner before the Ballet. We had an early reservation on a Friday night and were greeted by the hosts who were very friendly. Our service was quick but not hurried, and we were done in plenty of time for the ballet. The food was excellent both the Caesar and the house salad were unique and delicious. Our entrees which were from the Prix fixe menu were excellent. The special tiramisu desert was great. We will defiantly be back.
Already love the Crossroads Hotel and decided to try their Italian joint, Lazia. Named after the bodyguard of "Boss" Tom Pendergast, who ran KC in the early 20th century and launched Harry S. Truman into politics.
The food was very very good and such a warm, funky retro space. Only comment was that although their family style chicken dish was very well prepared and tasty, it was a bit pricey for chicken. The 30oz Porterhouse and charcuterie tray were fabulous. I recommend a visit!
Seemed like lazia was having an off night. We started off by waiting 30 minutes on our reservation (830, but weren’t seated til 9), then we seemed to be the forgotten table. For our main course, my dish arrived cold, while the others were still hot, so the timing in the kitchen must have been off. All in all, there are better places to spend your money in KC
Seated right on time - Yeah! Waitress was very personable and attentive. Overall the food was prepared well and delicious. Only downer was the dessert. Ordered the Tiramisu which you normally expect to be spongy and moist. This was not. Flavor was good but mislabeled as Tiramisu.
In KC to see ballet, heard Lazia was good and we were not disappointed. Chelsea was our server. Wonderful!
Our server was helpful and the ambience was nice, but most of our food was too salty for our taste.
Great dinner and service. One of our favorite places in KC.
The food was amazing ~ from taste to quality to presentation. Our server was top notch and a wealth of information. Didn't need her notes to tell us about the specials or the food. Very cool atmosphere. We will go back and highly recommend it!
The food and service were perfect! I would highly recommend this place to others.
Great food, relaxing atmosphere and superior service! A place we will definitely go back to.
The evening was very fun! The food was very good with some different dishes not found elsewhere. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy! We also liked the history behind the dinning room which just makes the experience that much more interesting. Lazia is on the top of our favorites here in Kansas City!
Food was just ok-pasta portions were small-not a lot of options for vegetarians or vegans.
I’ve been to Lazia several times and have lived the food...this however was my worst experience. The food was simply terrible - the cod was over salted just as the filet.
Please bring the charred octopus leg and better fish options and the gnocchi
Not only was everything great but the staff was so knowledgeable.
Love the ambiance and decor of this restaurant. The food and wine selection are wonderful as well.
Food was delicious and service fantastic! They made my husband’s birthday special with complementary drinks!
A friend was in from San Francisco & wanted to see some of KC. This restaurant was perfect! Everyone was friendly & smiling. Decor was fabulous and food was outstanding! Loved our server who was happy & helpful but never intrusive. We totally enjoyed our dining experience. I can’t wait to dine at Laxia again!
Amazing steak! Service was excellent. If you haven’t been you should go
Great all around! Very well priced, great cool vibe, food is good just nothing too overly creative as expected.
We were staying at the crossroads hotel and wanted to try Lazia out for my best friends birthday. Atmosphere seemed special, menu sounded great and was convenient location. I had asked if we could have a special bday cake and topper held until after the dinner, which they happily obliged. All was good, except our waitress was very familiar with the menu but lacked customer service and actually was “snooty” to us. Not a great experience. We loved the bread and asked for another plate since there was 4 of us, and she said there would be an up charge! What? Although the prices were medium to high, the fact that they would charge us more for some extra bread just seems rude. The cake was brought out with the topper but a cake cutting fee was offered-really?
It was fine for one time, but I’ve been to other local high end restaurants that are much more accommodating and (key word here) “Friendly”!
We loved Lazia. However, I found it too expensive.
We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, which had quite a draft. This basically colored the rest of the evening -- felt like they were trying to shove as many tables in as possible. Food was OK -- definitely had better. Felt that they were charging east cost prices in Kansas City -- not sure they understood the difference.
We had a reservation for my birthday. We got in and seated quickly. We were also given a glass of champagne for my birthday celebration. That was very nice. The place is lovely but the food was a disappointment. My husband ordered a sausage and pasta dish. He said it tasted like tomato paste. I ordered a spinach ravioli and it tasted terrible. Unfortunately I would not spend the money in there but I have heard the food in the bar is good especially the brick oven pizzas.
Girls night out for a birthday! We started in the bar for drinks and an appetizer. Love the feel of the bar! Dinner in the restaurant was amazing! The ambience couldn’t be any better and the staff was beyond compare. They were friendly and we loved hearing about the history of the building. The Host showed us some event spaces we were interested in for an upcoming occasion. You’d never know the bar, restaurant and event spaces are part of a hotel. They stand out perfectly on their own. Will definitely go back!
We had a wonderful Restaurant Week experience at Lazia! I had the Caesar salad (with an amazing, creamy avocado-based dressing), the pomodoro, and the panna cotta. It was the perfect amount of food, and each course was absolutely divine. The decor and ambiance here make for a PERFECT date night. Our waitress was wonderful—thoughtful, personable, and knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be back!
Portion sizes were very small which was disappointing.
First trip to Lazia during Restaurant Week did not disappoint. Great atmosphere in a historic Kansas City building, beautiful bar, excellent service, and, especially, our dinner of Arctic char was delicious and thoughtfully presented.
Restaurant week wasn’t a deal. It cost less to get items individually. Not a big selection and overpriced for what it was.
Excellent service, food, drink, and atmosphere. Best bread I’ve ever eaten, hands down. Fantastic menu for restaurant week.
after being seated I informed the server that I have a gluten allergy and was hoping for a substitution vs just removal. They could only do removal not substitution due to Restaurant Week menu, whatever. But the server became very rude and curt after my asking. the rest of the staff was wonderful. even the regular menu is limited if you have any diet restrictions.
The service, atmosphere, presentation and taste were outstanding! Went for restaurant week and meal was as good if not better than Bluestem, Freshwater, Corvino, and others. A great little find!
