Legal Sea Foods - Cranston
The service was outstanding as usual, and so was the food. We've never had a bad meal at eirher location. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
consistently good. We sat at the bar this time. The bar tender was excellent!
Brian was professional and was attentive to our table. We enjoyed our evening.
My overall experience at legal Sea bar was an amazing one. There was so much creativity in the way that the food was prepared the quality of the food was unbelievable and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious seafood.
Love The trout. They make it so well!!
For many years and for various reasons I have been a strong proponent of Legals. But over my last 3-4 visits I think I'm "all set". NOT saying that it is terrible, but I have found that EVERY time I walk out of the restaurant I say that it was either "good" or "ok". And for a restaurant that was at one time "the place" (I witnessed it), combined now with the INCREDIBLE prices they charge... "good" is not even close to being good enough. $81.00 (pre-tip) for 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, NO dessert and NO coffee? Sorry, if it was 30-40% less costly, I might return, but "good" is just not good enough anymore for those prices. Moving on.
Great experience - will visit again! Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
Huge improvement in location and ambience from former location. I always love the food there, but we had a large group and it's rare to have everyone happy with their meals -- everyone thought the food was exceptional. Reliably excellent!
Excellent waitperson, checked with chef on anything of which she was not certain. It was appreciated.
Dinner was excellent for three of the four of us, very good for the fourth.
Restaurant was not crowded, so noise was never an issue.
It appears to be a place where noise might well be an issue when the restaurant is full. No textiles, high ceiling, one large room.
All in all, a good restaurant experience. We will certainly return.
We had tickets to the Gamm, about 10 minutes from Legal, so we planned Restaurant Week lunch late for lunch and ate through hours of relaxing dining.
food was overcooked and had to go back for it to be done correctly
The food was excellent the portion was very good, upon return I would gladly order the same meal and that is indicative of how much that I enjoyed my visit to Legal Sea Foods.
If you want fresh fish that is absolutely delicious check out Legal Sea Foods in Cranston. They have gone back to pretty much the old menu and it is the best! Lemon Caper Sole my favorite.
Everything was cooked perfect. The only comment I would add is the menu lists RI Chowder. RI Chowder is clear broth not red. Red chowder is Manhattan.
Service not so good. Red chowder was terrible. 2nd time there ( Cranston RI)
I don't see myself going back.
Our server was excellent! The food is always great!
Food quality has slightly decreased since moving locations. Restaurant has a beautiful ambience now. But I’d rather sacrifice ambience to maintain the food quality from the previous location. Mashed potatoes aren’t offered as a side anymore which is also odd.
Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. Also one member of our group has severe allergies and felt his needs were properly addressed.
our meal is always great. Love the place. Would highly recommend
Very nice place for a New Years Eve dinner.
Went on new year's eve. Service was very good. Food was delicious. Dedicated gluten free fryolator so was able to get gluten free calamari and fish and chips, delicious! What a treat!
Seafood was fresh, service was great, especially considering that it was New Year's Eve. Restaurant was VERY hot, with heat blowing on the guests. When we asked, they did mention that many were hot and they adjusted accordingly. Although the food was great, prices are high, considering the generous availability of fresh seafood in the area. Overall a good experience.
Everything was delicious.
Excellent food and Brooke provided excellent service.
The food was overall really good! The black beans and rice were obviously microwaved though and we’re not that great. Service was bad. Waiter did not give his name, spent 2 seconds introducing the menu. Barely saw him. When he did come to our table, he just said corny stuff. He told my mother that he prefers her meal over mine (we both got tacos). Which I get sounds like he enjoys the food, but made me feel like my meal was not good. He referred my mother as “the one in the back”, just say miss because she was the only lady at my table. I also overheard the bar say, “would you want to use the same glass?” Which sounds ridiculous because if you could get a new clean glass, who would want to reuse their old glass. Just give them a new one.
Dec. 25th (2019) 6:30pm Christmas dinner reservation. 3 adults Caterpillar sushi: very good; crispy pan seared chicken breast over mashed potatoes with roasted chopped (browned w/crispy corners) carrots. Potatoes key lime pie wth raspberry sauce--good, but not nearly enough raspberry sauce was added to the pie's white "cream" sauce; Boston cream pie--delicious!
Portion of steak tips on surf and turf were small and a little overcooked. Shrimp was also a bit overcooked. The tuna sashimi appetizer was very good though! Not sure I would return to this Legal Seafood when the Boson area Legals are excellent.
Christmas Day at Legal Seafood was fun. The restaurant is nicely decorated, colorful and bright. The service is friendly and professional and nothing is forgotten. The menu has nice choices with something for everyone. We had reservations and were seated promptly. I would go there again and highly recommend.
A 15 minute wait with a reservation . A foreign object in my meal ruined Christmas dinner. The item was simply removed from the bill. No attempt was made to soften the inconvenience. Unfortunately the staff seemed overwhelmed. Perhaps holiday reservations should be on the half hour instead of every 15 minutes. Thanksgiving dinner was better than Christmas lunch. Unsure if I’ll return.
Christmas Eve. We arrived for a 5:15 reservation. Was seated promptly in a booth. I ordered boiled lobster which was very sweet and tender. My guests also liked their entrees. Our waitress paced our meal and allowed us enough time to savor the evening. My elderly mother was with us and many of the veteran waitresses came over to greet her as they have waited on us over the past 20 years. That made our evening very special.
Over rated. Food was not what we expected, no flavor, and don't taste fresh, especially when we are talking at a seafood restaurant. Disappointed.
Unexpectedly great. I was impressed and will return
Never have a bad meal at Legal Seafood. Keith is still the best waiter.
Marybeth is always so welcoming . We are frequent flyers to Legal Seafood and are always so welcomed when we arrive and throughout our dining experience. Brian is an exceptional waiter and is always informing me of ingredients that may not be gluten free/ dairy free. I so appreciate that. We had an exceptional evening.
We are SO glad that Sea bar has been replaced by the traditional Legal Seafood. The menu is worth the trip. We love the trout, and the stuffies are better than the best anywhere else - light stuffing and fresh feel, not the typical hardpack. Noise level was reasonable for a busy Saturday night, perhaps because we had a booth with lattice between the tables. We look forward to our next visit.
I am a longstanding customer of Legal Sea Foods. When located in Warwick, I would frequent for lunch and dinner multiple times a week with family and friends. After the switch to Legal Sea Bar, I found the menu disappointing and the food not as it use to be. Very frustrated, I stopped visiting the restaurant. I was ecstatic to hear the decision to bring back the old name, old menu and old vibe. It works....like they say "if ain't broke don't fix it!!" Since the change back I have visited the restaurant multiple times. I am very happy. It is good to see Keith, Cindy, Brian and so many other familiar, warm and welcoming faces. Dinner was great as usual - service the best. My only wish is that you bring back the clear/light clam chowdah. Once of the best items on your menu. If the aim is to go gluten free (even the batter on the fried clams is made with chickpeas), then a gluten free chowdah option is a must. Glad the Legal I remember is back....now I will be too. :-)
I just wish that wait-staff would observe conversation at a table and let it ebb prior to showing up and interrupting. If I have a mouthful of food and am asked "How is everything?" I will gladly spit my food out into my napkin and respond... and ask for a new napkin. ;-)
Horrible!!! Will never go there again. The only thing my wife and I liked was the salad. Pretty bad when a seafood restaurant can’t get the seafood right! Plenty of good restaurants in the area don’t need to go there again.
The waitress we had at the Cranston resturant sucked she barely talked and wasn’t very attentive. The food was awful the shrimp was beyond cooked to the point it was tough, the sides were cold and the waitress never brought up different sides or specials I am never going back worse restaurant in garden city.
Legal is a welcome addition to the city of Cranston. The food is yummy and the seating arrangements vary. Next trip...bar service
