Lobby Bar at The Brown Hotel
I've been here before but wanted to share with two foodies from Washington DC...many places were shut down due to COVID-19 but the Lobby Bar was pleasantly full (no coughs or sneezes). Some of us got the signature Hot Brown (shared and served in separate dishes) and of course a serving of Derby Pie and the very special "Striptease" dessert. Service is always gracious, food delicious. You don't have to dress up and there were families as well as business types. Complimentary valet parking is also a plus! Piano music in the background was also very nice.
My wife and I enjoyed an elegant dinner at the Lobby Bar at The Brown Hotel. We really enjoyed the service and ambiance. They had a pianist playing music that set a romantic mood throughout the evening. The food was prepared well and tasted fantastic. The price was a little steep for the meal and portion size but worth it if the other amenities are included (music, service, atmosphere).
Good food. Hot Brown is so rich and amazing. Fun people watching!
55 min to get food, left 20 minutes to eat and walk to venue for concert that started 5 minutes later and line to get into venue there was 20 minutes more. Overall a really terrible experience.
The Lobby Bar is a fabulous place to have dinner, especially before going to the theater or concert. The ambience is perfect, the service great and the food delicious! Great place to celebrate something or just go with friends.
Just Love everything about the Lobby Bar. Go to place before the concerts at the Palace
First time eating at the Brown Hotel and food was superb.
Special shout out to our waiter, Sam, who was friendly, attentive and helpful with our menu questions.
Our first time here and loved it! Sherry was amazing, our food and cocktails were delicious. The piano players were very talented. Will definitely be returning.
Top notch in all respects. Elegant ambience and attentive staff, excellent food
Free valet parking, white tablecloth, piano music, a nice salad, and the iconic hot brown made for a great dining experience.
We stopped in Louisville on our way to Florida from visiting family in Wisconsin! A pleasant relaxing experience in this historic and beautiful hotel
The Lobby Bar is so amazing...out in the open you can see the architecture of the building, people watch and drink and eat great food. Service is amazing.
Such a beautiful setting and so rich in history.
The Hot Brown is not to be missed! Share it though because the portion is huge.
The architecture and ambience is always wonderful at the lobby bar. It’s a bit pricey but overall a great experience.
Very grand restaurant and very good food. We went for birthday dinner and Hot Brown. It didn’t disappoint. Only advice Hot Brown is a big, heavy meal. Would definitely return!
Wonderful dinner before Brown Theatre performance. It was great parking in the garage for the event fee of $10 which prevented us from having to walk in the rain from one venue to the other. Crab cake, filet dinner were delicious. Lobster crab gratin appetizer was fabulous and so were short rib tacos. Will come back again soon. Beautiful atmosphere.
We traveled to Louisville to experience the history and ambiance of the city. This trip was my Christmas present to my husband and daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bar at the Brown Hotel. The lovely tables set up in the lushly appointed bar room were fancy yet casual. We had jeans on- after all it was a bar- and we were not out of place. This is a place where everyone is made to feel welcome. We had the wings- delicious! And also the crab cakes, salad, lamb sliders and the au gratin was delicious too. The drinks were well presented also. There was a gentleman playing piano that was perfect backdrop music for a lovely evening. The service was impeccable. I would highly recommend the Bar at the Brown Hotel.
Service was great and it was a perfect choice for Dinner before a show at the Palace.
I’ve never been treated so rudely by restaurant’s management staff. We made a reservation in the lobby bar and I could tell they were stressed when we showed up. They tried to take us upstairs into the back corner of a conference room (when we had made a reservation several weeks ago in the lobby bar - obviously it was a special occasion, Christmas dinner. When I asked to be seated at another table all I heard was excuses about how busy they were and that they had given us “a table“ and they were sorry I was disappointed - but they were clearly not sorry. Unbelievable attitude - all they had to do was apologize and get us a better table (which were clearly available and which they eventually did) and everything would’ve been fine. We chose to wait at the bar and have drinks while they got our table ready. No one ever apologized or tried to make things right in any way - it was like they were doing us a favor by giving us what we should have gotten in the first place. Frankly this pretty much ruined the whole evening, as everyone was extremely uncomfortable and the whole evening started off on a bad note. On the plus side, our server was very nice and attentive and the drinks and food were excellent. I never complain, but I am still in incensed with regard to how we were treated by the two management staff who seated us. In particular the one with the grey hair was completely rude and unsympathetic. Clearly they thought this was “OK“ which is really disappointing. Even after we were seated neither of them came by the table to check on us or apologize or say anything.
Holiday family outing- was Wonderful
We thoroughly enjoyed a late evening dinner on a Sat night, party of 4. Love the beautiful white tablecloths, elegant furniture, and surroundings all decorated for Christmas. The only problem was when we arrived, they had seated someone else at our table! They attempted to put us in another room, but I refused, and we were eventually seated at a lovely table. Our food was very good, hummus plate was huge for $12, and well presented too. We will definitely go back more often.
Dear Guest, Thank you so much for all the nice thoughts! Please contact me when you next plan to visit and I will block a nice table and ensure we provide a great dinner. Hope to have you back with us again soon. Regards, Brad Walker Vice President & General Manager
Having never being there I had several questions. I called and spoke a valet ref the rules/time limits and costs for using the valet. He gave me great information. Upon arrival they were quick and courteous. I also called the Lobby bar. I was worried that I should have made our resevation in your main dining area. I then checked on the computor and found that we could order from that menu if we desired. Troy called me back on our ride to Louisville. He advised me the main dining area was closed on Sunday, so their menu would not be available. He assured me there was many choices and good food on the Lobby Bar menu. He was correct on both. We met Troy and spoke to him before dining. He was very cordial. Our server, name not remembered was very good and caring, We were told that he was the newest server. Everything went great. Please extend our appreciation for a job well done to all. Yes, we will be back!!!!
The Lobby Bar is actually a really great restaurant that happens to be next to the bar in the lobby of the hotel. Short menu with several interesting offerings. The food is very tasty and service impeccable. Highly recommend this restaurant.
It was so good! Recommend the fries, they were delicious!
Excellent service and ambiance. Loved the Hot Brown, but don’t try to eat one by yourself. We asked to share it and they cooked each half individually. Excellent!
Appetizers and drinks before a concert at the palace. Beautiful historic hotel, excellent service, and delicious food!
Stopped for the Hot Brown of course...worth the hype! So delicious. HUGE portion
Great setting in a beautiful old hotel. The bar area is lively and adds some buzz to the room. Food was excellent and the service was good. We will certainly return.
We were celebrating my husbands 50th. There were 6 of us and initially they put us at a 10 top. They were able to find a table for 6 but not in the main Lobby Bar. A bit disappointing but food was yummy. Service was fine but nothing special .
Lamar was a great waiter and the mater de gave us a tour of the historic hotel. The omelette was excellent and Hot Brown was notable as a traditional Ky dish. But very heavy with sauce, cheese and butter. Guess that is what makes it so tasty. Not a choice for dieters though.
The Lobby Bar is not what the name suggests. It is a high end restaurant located in the hotel lobby. First class service with the best in foods. The menu is brief but comprehensive. A live piano gave the whole place a higher level of ambience. We highly recommend the restaurant.
In town for business and a friend told me to be sure to get some good burnout, an original hot brown, and derby pie. Between our group, we touched on all of those and it did not disappoint! Everything was top notch. Definitely a must-do in Louisville.
Host was rude, stated that he is on salary and didn’t care where we wanted to sit...Food was ok but our waiter was eager for us to sign for our bill once she left it. Interesting old hotel but won’t go back to the Lobby Bar. Also, did not give us credit for our Open Table reservation. First time this has happened for me after using Open Table over 50 times.
