Food was very good. Tables are close together and it is a loud busy place so can be hard to hear dining companion. Service was good, waiter knowledgable about drinks and food and made great recommendations. This was my second time here and I would return, but definitely easier to be there with one person vs. a table of four in terms of being able to have a conversation.
The drinks and food are excellent, and the staff are friendly. The only downside is that we waited longer than I expected for food and drinks, so try to order sooner than later. Consider ordering a second drink before you've quite finished your first. Totally worth it, though! Make a reservation on weekends, it can get crowded.
Always a wonderful meal at Longfellow. Each dish is creative and delicious. One of my favorite things on their menu are the cotechino pig n blankets; a solid snack we get every time we dine here. The longfellow burger is awesome and undergoes new iterations periodically. The most recent one, a nod to In-n-out burgers, was very tasty. Great cocktails, and I appreciate how they have some low-proof options! We've come here for anything from date night to celebrating something in our lives. Longfellow is a true gem in Harvard Square! I also like how you can easily do dinner before (or after) a screening at the Brattle Theatre that's right below it.
I've been dying to come here and finally got the opportunity to celebrate a special occasion. My expectations weren't even close to my experience, I was blown away. The environment, the service, the fulfillment of my special request for my reservation, it was all too perfect. I will be back even after I move out of state because it is that good.
Very good location, excellent food and drink. Nice service. However, the entire dinner we were cold since it’s a small place and the door kept opening and closing. Overall, very good. Thanks
Such a little gem in Harvard Square. Great bar food and cocktails. Love it!
Part of 6, service from from the door till we left was great. good and drinks were delicious.
Longfellow was great as always - the service was slightly disjointed because a different server/manager ended up taking our order than the one who initially approached us, but I much prefer this because it meant we didn’t have to wait for our original server to make her way back up. Our second round of drinks was faster too. Good work as ever, just know that when it’s busy you have to be a more proactive to get service when you want it but they’re always excellent at what they do.
Great location and ambiance. We only went for drinks, but the food looked very appealing.
I wasn’t treated very nicely by a prominent staff member who could likely use a day off to regroup. The waiter and hostesses were however both thoughtful and attentive throughout . On to the food- The small plates were perfectly executed across the board. We likely ordered 8-10 apps(roughly half of both the food and drink menu). Exquisite tuna tostada , expertly crisped quail and the infamously pedigreed burgers live up to the food hype machine. Drinks were honestly not nearly as inspired as Waypoint we felt. More cocktail choices would also be rather useful here considering the billing.
Be well Longfellow
Fairly miserable experience
A lovely spot with a creative menu, wonderful cocktails, and terrific service. What's not to love? Will I be back? Yep, soon as possible!
Third time visiting this establishment for lunch, and I just love it! The food is innovative and consistently good, but the ambience upstairs and the outstanding service make it great!
Saturday was a brutally cold night and we were given a table downstairs in the line of the door. It was also extremely loud which made it hard to catch up with my friend. I asked to be moved upstairs if space became available, and we had barely sipped our drinks before that happened. The upstairs is gorgeous, quieter, and the evening was so much warmer! The food was amazing. This is my second time at Longfellow, and I would recommend it, as well as, go again.
Poor service; a snarky server e we him we simply asked for a knife ; a table that left one diner squeezed near a pillar, with her chair constantly bumped by servers and other guests; cold (truly) coffee, apparently left sitting on a counter. Will never return and urge others to skip it. Too bad, because it is convenient to the A. R. T.
Fantastic food and cocktails , really terrific service
Could be considered loud but who cares it’s Friday night the left lane should be wide open anyway. Great service and great food chef Michael knows what’s up. He’s one of the best out there
Great drinks as always - we ordered the wing flats and they were extremely small in size and quantity for the price (though tasty). I liked them but because of the horrible value I probably wouldn’t ever get them again. Still love the place and will return but I think some of the food pricing is wonky, or ill-suited for value (the burger and chicken sandwich are great for price but so many other things are not).
Upstairs closed for private party so we sat at small table in the downstairs bar area (cold when door opened). Service was good. Cosmo was good, out of craft beer husband wanted but he liked the beer recommended ($14 can). Food (pigs in blanket, rye pretzel and burger) not good. We went to a different restaurant for wine because better wine, more generous pour for equal or less $.
Our server, Emma, was outstanding! She was friendly but not obtrusive; she made great drink and food recommendations and at no time did she make us feel like she was too busy to make sure we were happy with everything. She really made our night. In hindsight we should have tipped her more but we will catch her the next time we are in there! The drinks and wine were great. Some of the food was a little too rich for our liking and were disappointed that the tuna was sold out.
Great drinks as always - pleased with both of my choices. One thought, the Japanese whiskey with pear and soda is a little pricey for the strength of booze compared to others, and seems a little overpriced but it was delicious. Relished your take on the Corpse Reviver #2 with the clarified lemon juice
My friend had a wonderful evening with his lady friend. Will definitely be back!
Great! Restrooms are amazing
There are no paper cocktail napkins at the bar to absorb the condensation from glass - “we are being mindful to reduce our paper waste and be environmental friendly.” Really??
There is NO silverware - unless you request a fork and then it is reluctantly delivered to you with a slight hand tremor. “It’s a tasting menu and we encourage guests to use their fingers.” Really???
The drinks are strange ... some distilled on premises and poured into unmarked glass bottles from plastic containers. Seemed more like potions than cocktails. Stirring only ... no shaking drinks. Seems like a Board of Health problem brewing ... literally.
Portions were microscopic. Prices are astronomic.
Help them reduce their environmental footprint by not going altogether and reduce their impact to zero.
Great cocktails, fun and delicious finger foods with great flavors.
Nice place; servings are small, but good. Nice ambience.
Great cocktails and delicious wings for an after work hang out with friends.
Came here for a birthday and it was really lovely. The staff was so nice, professional, and helpful with recommendations. They even gave us a dessert on the house. So lovely, would definitely go back.
Great food and good service in a cosy atmosphere. No wonder it's a popular choice: it's also a good one.
The drinks, service, and food were excellent as always. I particularly love the variety in the drink menu, from classics to super-creative cocktails, as well as low-proof and non-alc concoctions as well. Our server was attentive and friendly to just the right degree to not interrupt our reunion dinner. Thanks!
Didn't serve us. Went to a different place that was willing to serve someone on their 21st birthday.
The freekah bread appetizer was out of this world. Otherwise, "meh". Service was earnest but needed to run back to check on many of our questions (what type of whiskey do you have?). The noise level was too high to have a decent conversation. The place is sleek and nicely done over, but lots of stone and glass make the acoustics challenging. We liked our drinks.
everything great as always
We ended up eating at the bar and the food was excellent! The service from the bar staff was really great as well. I will definitely be back!
So good! Her breath smelled if garlic for 48 hours and with every kiss I got to re-live the delicious slider 😁
So good. Great food, delicious drinks, perfect vibes.
The food was good. Some of the food was not as good as the first time visiting the establishment. I was disappointing with the wings. Cutting the wings in half made them feel small. The fries were good. The burger we had was okay. Little dry, for my liking even with ordering it medium rare. The new chicken sandwich was unbelievable!
I came with a friend for dinner and drinks. The service was outstanding. Table was ready for us when we arrived, and drinks and food came quickly and without fuss. The drinks are really the star at Longfellow, whereas some of the food is forgettable. I’ll definitely come back for a drink at some time.
Longfellow combines all of my favorite elements of a restaurant - american cuisine in a "shared" format, unique cocktails, and 5 star service in a beautiful yet laid-back environment - and is quickly becoming my top choice in the area.
This was a birthday luncheon with a friend. It was a lovely day, and Longfellow offered us the choice of inside or outside. We picked the table we liked and basked in the sun with just the right amount of shade. Both of us had been to Longfellow before, so we knew what dishes we wanted. Three different people from the downstairs bar staff circulated taking care of us, so it was like having three servers!! At the end, they brought out one of our favorite desserts with a lit candle ... with no charge! You haven't lived until you celebrate your birthday at Longfellow. Be sure you do!!
