Louisiana Purchase SD
Food was amazing, service was stellar!

Authentic Louisiana fare. We loved it.
We are vegetarian and had no idea the oyster mushrooms were only served at dinner. We only came for the oyster mushrooms. My daughter did enjoy your French toast sticks but as for my husband and I we didn’t eat anything. The waitress and chef did try to accommodate us but I was surprised not to see a manager or shift lead inquire about our issue.
Nice and modern nothing over the top
Great atmosphere, service and food! We’ll def be back.
This place was amazing. Not too windy out this day and we were sat right away. Bring a sweater at night but they have heaters. The appetizers and food were amazing! I had the Pretty Jenny and it was so delicious. Had a great time with great friends.
We had such an amazing time. Tony is the best bartender ever!
Food and drinks were very good. Really enjoyed the boudin balls and cheddar biscuits.
I’ve been for dinner once before and was blown away at how great the food and service was. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The waiter was attentive and nice and the atmosphere was very welcoming. However, this particular evening has left me very skeptical and thinking maybe I was just lucky the first time. The waitress was acted as if my table was an inconvenience for her to service. She didn’t make any effort to make sure we needed anything or had any questions. This was a typical Friday night and not too packed so I didn’t understand the lack of service because they weren’t slammed. To say the least her performance was unacceptable for me and was the main contributing factor for the bad experience. Everyone else in my party stated the food was ok but nothing to rave about. I had the etouffee and was highly disappointed. It was so spicy I couldn’t even eat half and the price you pay for the food there shouldn’t be anything wrong. All in all this was not a good experience and it may be awhile before I give it another try if I do at all. The only pro for my visit was the chef. He came out and shook hands and checked on our table in passing.
Love the food and drinks served here. I also love how the restaurant look. Very nice.
Loud and windy. They tell you the food comes out as it's ready so we suggest you order family style. OK So you don't have an expediter and I am responsible for your pacing. If you serve family style, how about a spoon? You can ask for one, but what you ask for and what you get are not the same thing. God help you if you want your water refilled. Then a glass of wine spilled and I asked for soda water 5x The last time while a server-back stood telling me "I got you, I got you, I got you" but every time he said that, he was NOT getting me. I wanted to save my wife's cashmere sweater, not engage in cute banter. The Alligator cheesecake was great. The cheese biscuits were like out of a can and the rest was muddied and not good. I cant wait until they are on TripAdvisor and I can cut loose. A very poor show.
Very creative cocktails and inventive food menu/takeoff on traditional New Orleans "style" cuisine. The atmosphere is casual/relaxed, the service was good and the waiter was very well versed with the menu. It is a bit on the pricey side (for the amount of food), but everything was tasty. Service was quick (though it was not terribly crowded when we were there and it was a Sunday evening). We enjoyed our meal.
My favorite restaurant in San Diego. Louisiana Purchase is a modern take on authentic Louisiana fare. The dishes are decadent, and amazingly delicious. Be sure to ask for the weekly neighborhood menu, where Chef puts his spin on some of his favorite dishes from restaurants back on in NO. On rare occasion, he treats us, and there are homemade beignets on the menu. (They should be on there every day!)
The craft cocktail selection is top notch as well. From happy hour, to anniversary celebrations, this is the place to go.
I already have to family, friends and coworkers. The occasion was for my wife's birthday and one of the owners, the host, and waitress all sang a wished her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We went for the Sunday Brunch. The food was really good. Our waitress was very professional and nice and accommodating. We got a chance to talk with one for the owners and they were very nice. Would definitely recommend this place. We plan on going back to try out the dinner menu. If you are a New Orleans Saints Fan, this is the place to be to watch the games when they play.
The best thing about our experience was our server, Joe! Thanks Joe for being a great server and being considerate, unlike the pregnant blonde lady.
I had wanted to try Louisiana Purchase for a while after driving by it many times. The ambiance is cool, food is decent, and service was great. Cocktails were a little strong but also too sweet? Not sure if this was from the bitters (had an old fashioned and a sazorac). I would go back here again just for a couple of fancy cocktails and the ambience alone.
We went for Sunday brunch, 9/29/19 which was a 90's R&B themed DJ Event. The ambiance was nice. The food portions are very generous. The value for brunch was good. Bottomless mimosas are always a plus. There were several different juice options to mix with the champagne, apple-celery, spicy cayenne OJ. I would go back for the dame theme. As a Vegan, options are non-existent, but I was there with friends, so I was able to enjoy fruit.
We went for my birthday, we had the chicken skins appetizer which was incredible a couple of drinks before we ordered from the neighborhood menu. I had the Ribeye special with Mac n cheese and cauliflower, my wife had the pork chop special with yams and collard greens and my daughter had the fish n shrimp PO Boy. All were fantastic but the rib eye and pork chop was exceptional.
Terrible service. Took 35 minutes to get an old fashioned. 20 minutes to get my check. Had to go up to the host stand and ask the hostess to go grab it for me.
Then they still charged for the old fashioned.(gave me happy hour price) lol.
I love the place and someone told me before that they had terrible service. I said really I’ve had great experiences.
Tonight I saw what they were talking about.
Bummer. Really cool atmosphere.
Will not go again.
The food was way better the last time we went. And I heard the server describe several specials that she didn’t explain to us, which was a shame.
Ambiance was great. Service still had some kinks, to be expected with a new place I guess. Food was not my favorite, but I'm not a particular fan of New Orleans food. Definitely worth trying!
I have never had better service. We were tended to as if we were the only patrons in the restaurant.
This was our second visit to Louisiana Purchase and it was not a fluke. Both time the food has been fantastic. Everything is thoughtfully planned out and very rich. It is a great spot to share plates and try as much as possible. We arrived about 15 minutes early and went to grab a drink at the bar, their only bartender was on the far side chatting with another patron and never acknowledged us. Finally, we gave up and went to the hostess to be seated. Our server was great and knowledgable and made up for us being snuffed off at the bar. Great ambience and perfect layout, great value for price.
Better than we expected. The Old Fashioned cocktails were amazing and a great value. We can’t stop talking about the grilled peaches and scallops. Looking forward to returning very soon.
very tasty and original food. good flavorw, snice decor and friendly service.
It was a perfect setting overall with delicious food.
Great food! Love twist to cajun cuisine. Definitely will be back again.
Tried this place out on a Thursday night. I was surprised to only find a handful of people in the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it did not disappoint. The only downer to this spot is the lack of ambiance. Maybe this place is better on the weeknights .
How bad does something have to be to taste WORSE with butter? Let me explain... I was stoked to go to a place that had such an awesome menu and the food pics had me sold! I took a day off from my diet and I was eager to ruin my waistline with delicious food. My waitress, who I dubbed "Hurry-up Heather", felt the need to remind us that the kitchen closed at 9pm, at least five times. I had an 8:30pm reservation. Because we felt rushed, we quickly ordered. We ordered from the Small plates, Entrees, and Desserts. EVERYTHNG CAME OUT AT ONCE. I just watched the ice cream melt on my dessert as I disappointingly picked at my meal. Here's what we ordered:
Crispy Cauliflower - very good
Crab Fingers - weird flavor, added butter to make it better. It did not.
Peaches and Scallops - the peaches were from a can and very bitter. The latkes had zero taste. The execution of this dish was lousy.
North Park Gumbo Yaya - idk where North Park is, but if that's how they do gumbo there, I'll never visit. Meatballs and fish DO NOT belong in gumbo! The gumbo had a gravy-like consistency and an unappealing taste.
The Dookey Chase - Mrs. Leah Chase would not have been pleased. The chicken had no detectable flavor and the greens had too much bite to them.
Ooey Gooey Dessert - the menu says it is "better than sex"... It is not! Think of your worst romantic experience and then imagine an even worse version of that. That's what the cake (with the melted ice cream) tasted like.
Hurry-up Heather took away plates that were barely touched and was aware of our dissatisfaction. She did nothing to improve the experience. $126 and 2 hours later, I found myself in another restaurant.
The ambiance was nice the music was too loud, the service and our server was great. The drinks were good, but overall the food was lacking in flavor. Ordered the gumbo, good shrimp, too greasy, little gumbo spicy flavor. FYI spicy hot is not a flavor. The collard greens were ok but too much vinegar and not enough flavor. The cornbread was too salty, came with no butter and was the only side to a shrimp dish which was flavorful with the bbq sauce. Sauce was great, but cost way too much for what it was. Overall too pricey for the neighborhood and the food was just not delicious enough to warrant the cost.Might go back once more when I am flush and try again. Might recommend with caution about cost.
The food was horrible. The waitress was all over the place and flies were everywhere
The food was good and the staff was kind. However, they were very busy and completely understaffed. We had a 12:45 reservation for 2 and we left there at 2:45. We sat for about 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. We ordered and food took over 30 minutes to come out. Food was cold and our order was incomplete. It took our server another 20 or so minutes to come back to our table. Our drinks went dry and the refills and new drink orders arrived after our meals were finished.
The food was good despite it being cold upon arrival to our table.
We would like to try it again as we love NOLA cuisine but will try another time option next time
The alligator cheesecake was delicious and a must order! We will be back.
My friends and I went here for my birthday dinner and I had a wonderful evening. Being from Louisiana, I can be a bit skeptical of southern inspired food anywhere west of Texas, however I was extremely impressed. We were able to try eight different dishes from the menu and every single one was delicious. My favorite however was the linguine with crawfish. Crawfish, REAL crawfish?! Are you kidding me?! I almost never see that out here, and when I do I am always disappointed. This dish was perfection. I definitely over ate and I will be getting that dish the next time I go. The drinks were creative and had a fun presentation. I tried to go into the night with no expectations (but really probably expected to be disappointed at some point) and I left with nothing but great things to say. Go to this restaurant! And if you’re from the south, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
Food was delish! Service was great! Would recommend to friends.
Food was amazing and came out fast and hot. We actually got our food before our drinks. The alligator cheesecake is a much have.
This was my first dining experience & I really enjoyed the alligator cheesecake it was unbelievably delicious! I couldn't get enough of it! The greens tasted like canned glory greens & need more work, as well as the fried chicken wings. Also, we had the lobster linguini which was very good & the season was on point. The only thing I would suggest is the lobster to be completely out of the shell because I don't like to fight to get my meat especially when you don't have the proper utensils to crack the shell. Overall it's a great place to eat & I'll definitely be going back!
