Conceived with legendary chef and food activist Alice Waters and led by acclaimed chef, writer, and cookbook author David Tanis, Lulu is a shared celebration of good food that is good for the planet. Lulu is a restaurant committed to prioritizing sustainability through local, regenerative food and design. Our mission focuses on procuring food directly from small, nearby farms practicing regenerative organic agriculture, which results in wholesome, delicious food grown using methods that combat the climate crisis.

Our restaurant is named after a wise Provencal cook, Lulu Peyraud, whose cooking and hospitality at Domaine Tempier in Bandol, France has always inspired David and Alice.

    Join us for an evening of food, film, and conversation inspired by the extraordinary journey of wild salmon. Begin the evening at LULU with a special prix fixe menu inspired by SUPERFISH: SALMON, the visually stunning documentary from four-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and marine biologist Rick Rosenthal. SUPERFISH: SALMON takes audiences beneath the surface to explore the extraordinary life of wild salmon, revealing the species' ecological importance and cultural legacy while illuminating what these remarkable fish can teach us about resilience, hope, and our connection to the natural world. Following dinner, guests are invited to the 7:30 PM screening at the Billy Wilder Theater (just across the courtyard), followed by a panel discussion. Panelists: Jennifer Kemmerly, Vice President of Global Ocean Conservation at Monterey Bay Aquarium; Stephen Hohenrieder, CEO of Grounded Capital, investors in sustainable food systems; Curtis Knight, Executive Director of Cal Trout; Michael Cimarusti, Chef and co-owner of Michelin-starred Providence restaurant; and director Rick Rosenthal. To learn more about the film, visit www.superfishsalmon.com. Menu preview coming soon. Evening Schedule: 5:00–6:15 PM: Dinner reservations at LULU. Please book your reservation between 5:00 PM and 6:15 PM to allow ample time to enjoy the SUPERFISH: SALMON-inspired prix fixe dinner before the 7:30 PM screening. 7:30 PM: Screening of SUPERFISH: SALMON in the Billy Wilder Theater, followed by a panel discussion. *Guests dining at LULU will receive complimentary tickets to the screening. Tickets will be distributed during dinner before the screening begins.

    This is my third attempt to give Lulu a chance. It doesn’t work. It’s expensive for what you get, the food is unexceptional. The space is pleasant, but it doesn’t compensate for the shortcomings. I was looking for the upstairs cafe at Chez Panisse, but I got a stingy version of a pretentious diner: a tasteless zucchini cold soup and a minuscule portion of pasta with traces of some unidentifiable sea dwelling creatures. Why three times, you may ask? Because it’s close to my house and I wish it was good. It is not.

    A friend and I had a summer afternoon lunch there and it was perfect. The smoked salmon sandwich was just right as was the glass of rose. The ambiance was absolutely just right for a summery lunch--outside in the shade. We were both enthralled.

    Everything was great! We especially liked the salmon crudo and the famous baked Sonoma goat cheese salad. The server was perfect and all of the staff did a great job.
