The pork belly entre was very heavy. Pork belly does not need to be encased in a fried crust. The chicken has overcooked. The fish was fine.
I’ve been a guest of Lyrebird for as long as it has been opened but will not be back as I have ceased enjoying the food offered on the menu. Surely a cool crisp entre would be advisable in summer. The chicken was tasteless.
Food was delicious; service efficient and friendly; restaurant works successfully to ensure that diners are in comfortable time for shows/concerts.
Good range to choose from
Prompt service for concert goers
Excellent food and service. A very good experience. One of the best restaurants in Brisbane.
We have always wanted to go and we were not disappointed. The food and service was wonderful, perfectly timed for the Concert. We were able to talk easily as the ambient noise was low. We will definitely go again.
We really enjoyed our pre-concert dinner - great service, excellent food and a quiet atmosphere. We started at 5.30 so there was no rushed feeling. We chose the 2 course set price menu which was good value. It was great to see so much local produce on the menu such as Granite Belt wines.
We enjoyed our dining experience immensely. The coral trout entree was really delicious, and then I chose the barramundi which was equally delicious. Our waiter was very helpful also. We were finished our meal nicely in time to attend the Beethoven concert. All in all a very enjoyable evening. Thank you.
Was not open!!!We were very disappointed that no one informed us.
We got there at 4.45 pm and noticed through the windows of the restaurant no tables were set.
We waited till 5.15 pm and set off to find somewhere else to eat.
The restaurant remained closed at 7 pm when we walked past it.
The convenience of the Lyrebird is always paramount when going to the theatre. It was a little disappointing this experience, but usually has an extremely high standard.
We arrived and were seated on time. Service got longer and longer until, even after being assured our mains were comming, they finally arrived 15 minutes before the "take your seats" chimes. No hint of an apology or even recognition of the failure by either our wait person or the maite d'.
The food, though, was excellent.
We have dined at the lyrebird previously and were very impressed . Unfortunately this time we did not have the same dining experience . My gluten free roll was so hard I could hardly eat it , my wine order went missing and overall the service was not at the usual standard . The trout starter was absolutely delicious though and the beef cheek was tender and full of flavour . I don’t think we will be as keen to return after this last experience however which is a bit sad having been so impressed on our previous visits.
Perfect restaurant for dinner before enjoying a show
Another fantastic meal at this restaurant, surely one of Brisbane's best. Great food, impeccable service, and good value. Will definitely be back!
A consistently enjoyable experience - an efficient restaurant catering mostly for pre-theatre diners with quality food at reasonable prices.
Ambience is sparse and the environment is quite noisy caused by poor acoustic attenuation of the sounds coming from the kitchen. Service was attentive and the quality of the steak was brilliant. It was very pleasing to see that local wines from the Granite Belt were on offer as we consider some of these wines superior to a lot of the wines from the southern states. Regardless, it is always a very convenient treat to have dinner at the Lyrebird prior to attending a concert.
Had s lovely evening with excellent food and good service.
I thought you price based on a captive market. Main meals are not worth $40. It is quite noisy as well. Service was good and food was good but not great. I ate there with my 11 year old daughter and I had one drink and it was $150. That is definitely overpriced
A very nice experience . Thank you to the team and the chef
4th visit to Lyrebird and we love it! Great service, exquisite food, prompt to ensure we make it to the theatre. Will remain a favourite of ours.
Great food, attentive service and great for a pre performance meal to get to the show on time!
My meal especially the pork entree was excellent however my daughter had a duck main which was tough. Her dessert was redeemed as it was very good
Amylou was servicing our table and she was an absolute treasure. She looked after us very well and the food was fantastic, and well timed for our show. 5 gold stars :)
The service was nice and quick as we were going to the ballet, the good was food but too expensive.
We dined before the ballet due to commence at 7.30pm. We were seated at 6pm, promptly brought water & food/wine menus. All staff were attentive, polite & helpful. I had Black Angus fillet medium/rare. It was beautiful, cooked just to my liking, very tender & juicy. The vegetables perfectly complimentary to the dish. My partner had the Barramundi [fish of the day] Again another beautiful dish, excellent flavours & the fish was deliciously moist. We were very relaxed, enjoyed some wine with our meal & were ready to head upstairs in very comfortable and adequate time to attend the ballet. It was a 'treat' for a nice dinner and evening out - very much enjoyed - Thankyou
Everything was smooth and efficient making it a great beginning today our night at the theatre,
"Lyrebird" becomes Liarbird when staff lie to customers.
Like many a disappointed diner, I was tempted to vent my displeasure in a detailed and scathing review of the unnecessarily incivil and misleading "welcome" to our dining experience on the evening of 20/02/2020... but instead, I think it more meaningful to heap praise on the one staff-member who generously provided such sincerity, warmth and skilled service that she almost wiped away the deep dissatisfaction we both felt. Her name is "Izzy" and I hope that the management of "Lyrebird" know what a valuable asset they have in her services (though I must question the capabilities of any restaurant manager who cannot see the fundamental issues plaguing this place). Nevertheless, the food was unremarkable but competently cooked, there is no ambience (but of course diners come there for the amenity to QPAC), the prices are more than reasonable. The service... (all I can say is that Izzy saved the day and was the sole reason for choosing to add $30 as a grateful gratuity when paying our bill). The lessons learned...? I would suggest not lying to customers about nonexistent restrictions to their ability to dine (apparently for your own convenience), particularly when they took the time to pre-book their table and just drove over two hours in heavy traffic to visit your venue. But if you do, don't have an open kitchen allowing them to see how little activity is taking place to supply a restaurant that is half-full and well into clean-up and pack-up by 7:05pm. When you make your guests feel they are an imposition upon you, an irritant to you, an unfair burden to your chefs and an interruption to the smoothe running of your restaurant AND you achieve all this within the very first few moments of their arrival (and prior to them being seated) you need to offer something quite exceptional and exciting to get away with it. You didn't. Izzy rescued you all from a far more enbarrassing review than this one - you owe her!
It was a busy night on a Friday, also Valentine’s Day.
Food has always been good, but this time it’s very different from all previous visits:
- bread rolls were not warm
-duck in the main course was extremely tough. Thought it’s the knife not sharp enough, but it’s like a steak knife, should be sharp enough. Raspberries were strewn around with sauce, not visually pleasant.
Great atmosphere, staff were knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. I have dined in Lyrebird on many occasions and My expectations were of the usual high standard. I was, therefore, pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the food. It seems to get better with every visit.
my creamy oyster were perfect fillet a shade over but acceptable ---did not have room for dessert!
I would recommend the Lyrebird for a special occasion . The food was excellent, it was QUIET and I was particularly impressed with the wait staff. Our waiter Ned knew how to serve dishes and drinks and was friendly and positive. I congratulate the management on the training of the staff. Only problem was the wait between courses but as we had allowed for the time we did get to the concert on time.
A lovely meal, both of us very happy with our choices.
Great proximity to the concert venue - great service.
The palm heart and duck were delicious - glad to see a menu change !
Lovely lovely menu - great staff - very very good value for money as the food quality was superb
We have eaten here on most occasions that we attend a QPAC show. It is yet to disappoint. The food is fabulous, the staff are attentive and friendly and the whole experience is fantastic. I asked for my eye fillet to be cooked bleu and it was done to perfection. Unlike so many restaurants, the chef here knows how to cook a bleu steak and isn't afraid that its underdone. We will be back.
The food in this restaurant is excellent but it must be noted that it is becoming very expensive. Charging nearly $40 for a main course is fine except when the quantity of food presented is quite small. It is very fresh and beautifully presented but maybe more than two small pieces of duck breast would be reasonable especially when there are no extras so you need to order sides if you want anything other than the small amount of meat. Charging $21 for a cheese platter is fine when there is a significant quantity of cheese but that, too, was lacking and the staff should be aware that cheese should be brought to room temperature before serving to the customer. Despite these apparent deficiencies, a very pleasant meal before a wonderful show.
Amazing experience. Great food, great service, great night.
A perfect pre show restaurant - food, service, ambience, timeliness cannot be faulted
Very good service and a helpful maitre d'.
The evening was spoilt because of one diner's very tough beef which had little taste and another's too tough to eat meat dish. All the meat had to be left. Two out of 3 dishes left with only a third eaten and there was no query about our satisfaction with the dishes. So we had to raise our dissatisfaction except for he duck dish which was very good.
The salad side dish was unattractively arranged, just a jumble of small salad items on a very small plate.
I do think in this day and age just to bring wine by the glass already poured and without showing the bottle from which it was poured is a pretty poor approach in a restaurant that reputes to be a fine dining one.
Unfortunately as regular QPAC attendees, we will be back to finding somewhere else to eat before a show.
Very average food - outdated and lacking imagination. For the price and location, we expected more. Apparently “slow cooked crispy pork belly” equals a square, deep fried, crumbed croquet...
Disappointed by the “signature” experience. Won’t be back.
The salmon entree was superb, but the pasta main was quite poor. I would not order that again, nor recommend it to anyone. It was gluggy, had an odd flavour and the cheese, (if it was cheese) grated on top, flavourless. The dish also needed extra seasoning. Always use the fine grater in a fine dining restaurant. The service and ambience was excellent.
