Mac's on Hertel

Service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was nice. Food was mediocre and wasn’t very flavorful. Wasn’t bad and everything was prepared as requested, just was very underwhelming. Also wasn’t very crowded, I’d use this as more of a back up place for brunch than a primary destination.

We had a great meal and the service was great, will definitely be back!

Took 30 minutes to get a drink after we were seated, and they came to the table warm. Food came 30 minutes later and was cold. Would not return.

Had a reservation for 6:30, after flagging down 3 different servers we finally got one after sitting for 25 minutes. The server seemed annoyed to have to wait on us, this is the same one who gave me attitude after I said we had been sitting for 20 minutes waiting for someone to even greet our table. I know it’s a Friday, which is why we didn’t leave, we didn’t want to start the process over again somewhere else, she said it’s normal to wait 20 minutes for someone to come over. Waited over 10 minutes for a drink. Food came, it was awesome but the server brought the silverware out after we started eating, but in shifts, she brought 3, then 2 more quite some time later, we had to share, took quite a long time to get everyone a napkin. Just a disappointing experience all around. The food was awesome, the service was just awful

My wife and I were looking for a simple and casual meal. Mac's on Hertel fit this well. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server. It has a Sports Bar atmosphere with numerous TVs on the walls. There are two levels and a patio. We started out with a grilled peach flatbread. It had grilled peaches, goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula and was drizzled with honey. We both found this to be very good. I chose the strawberry chicken salad. It looked good but overall I was disappointed with it. The chicken had little flavor other than the charred flavor from where it got black on the grill. The dressing, a strawberry vinaigrette was terrible and had no flavor. I had my wife sample it and she agreed. My wife chose the beef on weck and fries. She said the fries appeared to be fresh cut and the beef was very good. I tried both and liked them as well. Service was good and 2 of the 3 items we ordered were very good. I may give them another try if in the area but will avoid the salad.

Cesar salad wasn't the freshest as it was turning brown. Sever was polite and helpful.

The service was not that good. We advised the waitress that someone in our party had an allergy to tomato’s and when that person got their food there was tomato’s on her burger and a hair in her French fries. It took a very long time for the waitress to check to see if we needed more drinks or if everything was ok. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Drinks and food were good. Nothing Special. When we arrived I wasn't all that hungry so we wanted to order slowly. Got our drinks, then ordered an app, then ordered entrees. Our entrees ended up coming out while we were still eating our app. My boyfriend ordered a burger medium. Half was well done half was still pretty raw. We sat outside, it was extremely loud with all the motorcycles and trucks going by.

The Tuscan Shrimp was very good but needed either more shrimp of larger ones. The ambience was verI would definitely come again.

The food choices were really great and tasted amazing. We enjoyed the upstairs outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was my first time and I will definitely be back.

Great building and location but something not quite figured out yet with restaurant. Server didn’t know tap beer selection and beer ordered was flat (tried several and went to the bar myself to check selection). I had the ribs which were decent but the wife’s breaded fish was “funky tasting” at best. Service was a bit slow from start to finish. I really wanted to like this place because of price location and great patio but doubt we’ll be back.

Service was very slow and we ordered a steak and was not cooked to how we ordered it. Sent it back and came back the same way.

Sat outside while socially distanced and it was wonderful! Taresa was our waitress and she was absolutely phenomenal! Very attentive and sweet. We will definitely be back again!

Very disappointed in our dinner here on an early Sunday night. The service was terrible. We waited a very long time for our server. We actually had to send in one of our party to get someone to take our drink order. We sat outside. Food was mediocre at best. I ordered the beet salad with scallops. The dressing was mostly oil. Luckily the condiments on the table included vinegar, which I used gingerly to balance all the oil in the dressing provided. The salad was mostly greens, with only four small scallops added. The scallops were an up charge. The beets were bland; there were a few nuts and very little goat cheese. One person in our group ordered a rare burger. It was definitely cooked to medium. She declined to send it back due to the slow service. Another friend had the Rueben. She agreed it was not up to par and wouldn’t order it again. We did order the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which were good, although the Brussel sprouts were not crispy as advertised. The sauce was tasty. This was my first visit to Macs. Unfortunately, I’m not inclined to return.

Courteous staff. We sat on the patio it was a nice night, food was great.

It was nicely social distanced from other people in the outdoor patio. The server was slow at first but became fast towards the end. Food came out faster than I thought (came a minutes after drinks arrived). Food was perfect, however it was a little cold for the veggie burger and chicken in the Mac and cheese. Wish there was more shade in the second floor patio. Would love to come back at some point!

Laid back atmosphere with delicious food. There is something for everyone

I was disappointed to see so many people with no masks. Servers all had masks. People walking in common area with no masks. People with masks under their chin. My gluten free pizza was cold.

Gave a new place a try and was a bit disappointed. What we loved: great patio dining on two floors to stay socially distanced in the fresh air and enjoyment of the vibrant Hertel Ave scene; recommend the brussel sprout appetizer and the peach flatbread appetizer - both delish. What could've been better: our table was near a sewer opening and we suffered unpleasant whiffs all evening; I ordered a pricier dish, swapping out the more expensive meat for less expensive meat. What I received was very little on my plate, including a side dish of "greens". I realized later that night that I was charged the price of the more expensive meat, paying a lot for a little. Nothing was an absolute deal-breaker - I might try the restaurant again - but it wasn't my favorite night.

Food was good. Sat outside and people watched on Hertel. Tables are socially distant and servers wore mask. Macho nacho were amazing. Definitely will return

We were looking for outdoor seating, dinner and conversation. Never been to Mac’s before. They had a decent menu and the food was great! Definitely would recommend it and happily return.

We had fun! Our server Logan did a great job. The food was very good. Most importantly, I felt safe. Management at Macs is doing a good job.

Waited 2.5 hours for food

We made a reservation here on Open table. There were many people waiting when we arrived but we were taken right out to our reserved patio table. It was a beautiful night, quiet considering the street. We waited a few minutes for our server and she apologized, we didn’t care because we were enjoying the atmosphere. She took our order and explained that our bar drinks may be delayed because of takeout orders. We had expected this kind of thing so it didn’t bother us at all. The drinks came out sooner than anticipated and the food shortly followed. I had the scallops, omg delicious! The hubby ordered the blackened chicken pasta, equally delicious! We had a great first dinner out since quarantine. Thank you open table for the ease of reserving a table and Macs for the delicious dinner!!

Opening day of the pandemic return to patio sinking. We were surprised how organized and ready they were. Food was fresh and well prepared. Our server (Hannah) was friendly and efficient and the patio has a lovely Hertel Ave ambiance.

The staff here is very friendly and service is speedy. The moody blue burger ($14) was delicious and the fries are some of the best I've ever had. The long island iced tea was strong and $9. The view is great and the atmosphere relaxing. No specialty cocktails during this time and they are taking precautionary measures to keep everything clean and minimal contact.

I have never experienced such poor and slow service in my life. We went the first week the restaurant opened after covid. Tables were spread apart and ours was on a sewer. If the wind blew in a certain direction there would be a terrible smell that lingered. It took over 2hrs to get 2 beers, 2 burgers, and a kids pasta dish.

Food took almost an hour to receive - only to receive it cold, incorrect and undercooked.

Went for a last minute brunch, food was excellent and service was very good. Will definitely return.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The management is terrible and lazy. Doesn't know how to handle situations. He shouldn't be a manager at all. His position as a general manger is something he should have. Has an terrible attitude as well has the staff. The waitress was very very rude! Never introduced herself never came after food was given to see if anything was needed. I dealt with her attitude had a receipt snatched out of my hand. Manger did absolutely nothing about it. They can't handle large parties. Never got an apology just argumentative and not able to admit faults. Manger left the waitress alone to tend to a 20+ party. The place was empty besides our party just pure laziest. General Manager NEAL which I believe his name is and I had to read my receipt to get the waitress name JAMIE. Waitress attitude was terrible since our party sat down. I called to speak to the owner or someone hire. I was given to the "general manager Neal" before I was told I was speaking to Logan they lied about that. I WOULD SUGGEST ANYONE IF EVER THOUGHT ABOUT COMING TO THIS RESTAURANT AND WANT A++ SERVICE TO SKIP THIS PLACE. MEDIOCRE!!! THATS WHY IT'S ALWAYS EMPTY.
