Mahony - False Creek
Seemed like a new menu since last time we went there.
First time here.
I mentioned on the booking that it was a birthday and the server went out of the way to make it a little special.
Great service, food and ambience. Had a wonderful experience.
I have there twice . Once was a supervisor lunch last year and this was a family dinner .The waitress was very nice and helpful . Price was very good and there was lots of food and we enjoyed it
Tried the Dine Out menu on a Saturday night. Was told they only had 2 left of the entree I wanted and was lucky enough to get one of them, but surprised that they would have run out had we arrived later. 3 course meals were delicious and of good size, so much that I couldnt finish my entree and the huge delicious lava cake for dessert. The pub is very much a pub atmosphere but the rock music didn't seem to match the clientele that night. At least the music wasn't too loud. The Indian-themed menu also seemed strange given this is supposed to be an Irish pub, and we found the menu prices to be on the high side so the $25 dine out deal is a great deal. Our server was wonderful and I could see enjoying this place much better sitting outside on the deck in nice weather.
Reservation made for 9 people (6 adults and 3 kids) on Saturday, Jan 25 for dineout menu. 5 of us ordered the beef curry but was told that they only had enough for 1 order. This was 6.30 pm on a Saturday evening! I would have expected the chef to have the foresight to make more for the evening diners if they had ran out during lunch. It was very disappointing, we asked for a substitution but they wouldn’t allow it and I ordered their fish and chips (same size as kids portion but on a larger plate!). I didn’t enjoy it as the fish was small and salty. The Manager on duty told us, Dineout is dineout.
It was wasn’t even busy and appetizer took more than 40 mins to arrive. Our kids were starving!
Our server was good but she was limited to what she can do or provide us based on Mahoney’s strict policies. Not even a token gesture. This is obviously their slow season so something more could have been done to wow us as I remember going to the same location approx. 4 years ago, when it was much busier, receiving food in a timely manner, of good quality and service. This was a very disappointing experience especially as I raved to my friends about it. I emailed the General Manager 2 days ago but no response yet.
Great music, not too loud, good food and if you like chicken fingers, these were really good, hand made and moist, good dip.
For a great night , you must come here! Great ambiance and wonderful staff. The food is always delicious! THANKYOU Ireland for lending us those amazing wonderful staff members at Mahone and Sons!
Sadly, for a birthday dinner I was very disappointed. Having made reservations with plenty of time to expect a decent table I was placed next to a large Christmas party. We were penned in with no view of anything even though the restaurant did not seem busy. I regret not asking for a different spot and another couple seated near to us did not stay where they were put.
The waitress was efficient and friendly. The food was ok. I was not impressed and will not recommend or return.
Food is overpriced and not that good. Very salty instead of having actual flavors. The red wine was average.
I love the Stamps Landing location and I've always enjoyed Mahony & Sons atmosphere and mood. This time, we were seated interior to the bar next to a very very noisy crowd despite a request in the booking for a window (I would have thought they could have put us on the second floor or somewhere else entirely) but the general atmosphere was still good.
Amazing location. Tasty plates. Friendly and speedy service.
Very good food and a nice experience overall. We took the little ferry there to avoid the pre-game crowd near the stadium.
Was disappointed in the menu change. Mahoney’s was great because of its unique and delicious Irish food, but now since they changed their menu it’s more of an Indian inspired cuisine, which to me is a bit odd considering it’s an Irish pub. Scenery and service is excellent, but the food, not so much. (The new menu, that is)
We went there to celebrate our sons graduation from UBC. While he was not at the table I asked our server if something special could be done; even an umbrella in his beer! No effort was made on her part. The food is mediocre at best. I ordered the salmon bowl. It was small, overpriced, and mediocre at best. The topping for this bowl was raw Bok Choi or similar. I can put something raw on top of a meal at home quite easily. I expected way more from this place. Our calamari appetizer was small, it was prepared well. I would maybe go back here for cold beer and one appetizer because the patio is nice. I would not go back for a meal.
Great patio, good service. Happy hour offered a good variety of beverages. Slightly small portions for happy hour food. I would still recommend it.
Fantastic welcoming staff, great selection of local beers & great food menu. Really fun place to spend an evening for big and small groups.
Several of party wore hearing aids so consequently would return Only in summer and by sitting on deck outside. Also we were there for happy hour drinks so 3 of party ate smaller items from that menu
Beautiful restaurant with stunning views. Service was good, but the food was terrible.
Great feel, friendly staff and the live music is a plus
Food was good, great seating location, but service was terrible. Our waitress maybe came 3 times in the 3 hours we were there. Also, the music was great! Really enjoyed the live music.
Great experience by the fireplace. Beer was good; wished there was more variety. Food treated good with great portions. Ice cream was not good - when you can't finish Ice cream, there's an issue.
Great experience! Food, service, location, two thumbs up. First time there with two other girlfriends, we all had a good time, highly recommended!
Had a great night for New Years Eve. The set menu was fantastic, the service excellent. Great table upstairs with a view of False Creek at night.
My 2 friends did not show up and I particularly appreciated that my server was very nice and attentive towards me. I also liked that there was an alternative to steak as I don't eat beef. The salmon was cooked to perfection and was delicious.
I always love the ambiance and music provided by Checo and I hope he comes back to play more often.
Food was about average for what you’d expect. The location is the gem of this restaurant. Service was attentive.
Location is excellent (where former Monk McQueens used to be). View on the harbour and Yaletown from the patio is hard to beat.
Service was ok.
Food was atrocity.
cajun "chicken" burger is 1/4 of the single chicken breast with 1/2 of slice of cheddar cheese. Looked like budget meal leftover from children menu.
Few leaves of "Cesar" salad were at least three days old, soggy and dark green going on grey.
The other plates on our table looked as sorry as the one described above.
I was actually shocked by the poor quality of food for such premium location. Or we made a mistake of choosing Irish pub for dinner instead of just drinks.
View is amazing. Food was average. It was a Monday afternoon lunch and it was not busy but getting the bill took a long time.
Good place for drinks and snacks with a wonderful location and great view - especially if you are prepared to wait for a table on the patio. Not a fine dining experience.
View was outstanding, service could definitely be better, food taste was ok but there was hair in the salsa (disgusting), a sliver of a hard plastic (tiny) in the poutine and shot glass had lipstick (yuk!). did not report the food issues as we ate half of it already before we came across the hair & plastic. we did return the shot glass with lipstick.
I recommend Mahony and Sons for their patio! You have an amazing view of downtown and you're right on the water. The food is okay, not overly amazing but not bad either. Would consider this restaurant a good option for the summer.
Thank you so much for the awesome table you gave us and the service was awesome. My Husband and I always take our friends there, whenever possible.
Menu is varied, anybody can find something. The grilled salmon was good. The only thing I didn't like is the cappuccino. It sounds like it is made with a machine and milk was not real (powder?). Tasted like chemical milk. I wasn't able to finish it.
Great Place , great view and good service. The food was surprisingly healthy for an Irish style restaurant with enough choices and types
Great place! Nice décor! Amazing view! Warm service! Good food...
Amazing food -especially the yorkshire pudding! Friendly staff and homey Irish pub ambiance.
I had to return the Fries as they were somewhat stale and only warm, but problem was quickly and cheerfully rectified.
Music was too loud for conversation but it was turned down on request.
Overall: Quite satisfactory.
Came for happy hour before a concert and was so impressed with the abundance of patio seating. Also, the west-side portion of their patio is pet-friendly! I brought my dog and leashed him next to the table and server promptly brought him some water (now that's service!)
Small happy hour menu but it's a pretty decent deal: $4-6 for drinks and cheap appies. Their beer and cocktail menu is also substantial but the best part is still the outdoor seating.
Nestled in the marina on a sunny day - you couldn't ask for a better location to hang out and have some drinks!
Finished first round of drinks and appies, wanted to order a second round, no service, after 20 minutes our server appeared she said she was on a break and thought someone else would help us...told her we were ready to leave...
