Main Bar at Hotel Esplanade

WENT WITH MY PARTNER TO CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY ON A NICE SUNNY DAY. WE SHARED THE CAULIFLOWER TACOS WHICH WERE POUTSTANDING AND THEN SHARED THE ROAST CHOOK WHICH WAS ALSO VERY GOOD. WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE VARIETIES OF LAGERS AND PILSNERS ON TAP AS THERE ARE MOSTLY ALES.
AMBIENCE WAS GREAT AND NOT TOO NOISY.

For 9 people we were given to small bar tables pushed together to eat at.

We ordered swordfish which was dry & the table was not clean in fact it was very sticky

It was okay! Nice area, but service was pretty bad and wait times as well, not a vibe and a bit dull. Food was nice though.

Great food and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Well set up for person using wheelchair.

Had a really great time for my birthday, only problem was how long it took to get a drink at the bar

Not organised or flexible when coming to table bookings, had a 5:45 book - we put on a wobbly high table with stools there were 4 lower tables with bookings at 7:15 - but was unable to love to them.

No happy with the staffs response to my enquire to change tables.

The main bar was very loud (on a Tuesday) but the staff were great in finding us a quieter space. Food was very good for 5 of our 6, but the other one was quite disappointed. Overall though it was a good night and I would always recommend the Espy.

Not the greatest place to eat for a family. Limited menu. Poor lighting. Not very clean. Website states they have a kids menu which they do not. Food reasonable but expensive for the quality and portion size.

Good bar service for females in their 20's for others it was brusque and routine. In your 20's you weren't refused service for not wearing a mask.
Food very average

Cool venue, super service, decent cocktails. The only let down was the food. (Chicken/fish burgers) Pretty simple given the price. Attempts at flavour were squashed with dence buns. We were asked for feedback it seems to be heard before. If feedback is a dead end, don't ask for it.
We would go back and maybe stick with share options.

Beautiful place and the waitstaff were friendly but the bar staff definitely dampened our evening. I had a medical exemption and could not wear a mask and I was made to feel as though I was an infected person. I was even told to step back further from the bar.
Apart from that, I love the esplanade and have been coming here for years.

I like to have lunch at the Espy from time to time and over the last year or so since re opening, I had lunch on New Year’s Day and the lady who always seems to greet me at the door and take me to my seat is a absolute ray of sunshine. It’s not the fact she’s always smiling, it’s not that she has lovely manners, she has this way of making me always feel so welcome. She is amazing and I can’t stress enough how important she is making me smile when I walk in and when I leave. I hope she gets this feedback.

Lively place with good food & service. Very noisey but this was expected.

Hard surfaces noise level insane, yell to converse...
Bar totally under staffed or just too cool..too much social chat with staff when I was there, massive drink queue

Had a lovely meal and loved the atmosphere and positive vibe. Great staff and we had a beautiful view of the sunset. Will definately be back.

The menu and kitchen had different descriptions for the food . We were initially told the steak and chicken were sold out
They were both available but the wrong description was being entered into the system.
Enjoyed the good once we worked out the error 👍

Typical pub parmi, nothing to write home about. Had to kick another group off the table to seat us (even though we offered to sit elsewhere but were told no). Would recommend for drinks not so much a meal

Poor quality and expensive. Food tasted bland and as though it had come out of a freezer. I found a hair in my burger. Oysters were ruined by being covered in oil. Shame as this place used to be good but not now.

Great to finally get back to the Espy post renovation. Looks great and had a great time.

Very busy and have to line up for quite a while for meal and drink service. We shared a series of the small plates. Food was innovative and yummy.

Hey espy, I would love to see you change to a QR code ordering system! Lining up at the bar for half of your 1.5 hour sitting in a very not socially distanced way totally ruined the experience! Food was great as always, staff are obviously stressed out the vibe wasn’t good behind the bar. QR code ordering would be a positive move for everyone I reckon!

The staff at the Espy and the Ghost Bar are amazing!
It’s my favourite place in St Kilda and as s local I love sharing the experience with friends who aren’t lucky enough to have it close by!
Well done to all the staff who make it such and amazing experience!

What more can you say.. it’s The Espy!
One day I’ll have something other than the Parma but I make no promises as they are great. Others at the table had a Margarita pizza which was first rate along with the burger comments.
Most tables doing the right Jing Covid wise except for a largish table of young women hell bent on hugging each other ( sigh)
Will be back again soon I hope

Great place for food & cocktails, right by the beach. We were seated right by the window - best seats in the house. Friendly bar staff, really good pizza. Drinks a little pricey.

We actually didn’t eat at the Espy on this occasion but had a great time.
The atmosphere was chilled and very relaxing. We had a variety of cocktails which were pretty good. The red wine was terrific.

Really enjoyed this place, amazing atmosphere, service and Dj’s that play there are phenomenal, highly recommend 👌🏾👌🏾

It’s hard to notify you guys if we are running late (as it says everywhere to do so) if you don’t answer the phones during trading hours (even though I tried called prior to open hours).

Has been our favorite place for some time. And now after Covid 19 it still remains a great place to be. The way they organise the day was perfect. The service was great and the food wonderful. Can't wait till the dance floor opens.
