Mallory's Restaurant & Rooftop Bar

We are from WI, but our experience has been that staff wear masks and masks are expected to be worn by patrons when passing through the restaurant and ordering/speaking to staff per the Governor's Orders. Not at Mallory's. Not only are all the patrons maskless (even when entering or walking around) but SO IS ALL THE STAFF. Not one single protocol was observed by us. To make matters worse, the host/manager (not sure, he greeted us at the door and seated us) was discussing at the tables by us, very loudly, about how the Governor of WI is a complete idiot and no one should have to listen to him and he thumbs his nose at any rules or Order in place. He stated "this is a safe haven for folks who think this is all bullsh*t."

Great service and food was fabulous.

We made the drive from Excelsior and it was so nice to be a town and restaurant that felt normal!! Great food and drinks too! Thank you!!

Great place but with COVID going on you need to make a reservation if you want to guarantee a table. On the night we went it was very busy and many were turned away because they were at capacity and had no available tables.
Food was above and beyond excellent. Prices were high on a lot of menu items but the quality can’t be beat.

I enjoyed lunch. I was very surprised no one was wearing masks. I was glad I made a reservation, we were seated in a booth with a high back. I wore a mask when not in the booth.

Great service. Can't say enough about it. Most of the food is good though there are a few duds. Beautiful atmosphere

Mallory’s is an exceptional restaurant with fabulous food and great wait staff!! With Minnesota being closed it’s a good idea to make a reservation!!

Great experience for a birthday dinner. Outstanding service. Good food. Really enjoyed the vide and the meal.

Great evening out with friends for New Year’s Eve. Food was OK. Walleye was over crusted and salty with Parmesan. Calamari rings were tempura battered and over cooked, served with tartar sauce. The ones that got fillet and lobster were very please. It was delicious. Drinks were great. Service was friendly. Speakeasy in the basement is definitely worth checking out.

Mallory's is an awesome restaurant to go to for Minnesotans to get to feel like they're not living in a 1984 hell hole. Great service, great COVID policies, and awesome food!

Terrible asparagus, especially with additional cost of $8 for 12 stalks with one-third being edible.

Much too noisy.

No common sense about Covid. From now on, we'll just stay in MN and avoid the hassle.

Nice ambiance, excellent service from our server. Food was great! Only questioned why hostess, server and cooks not wearing masks. It was our anniversary and server told us that they only do special things for birthdays so that was weird. Other than that, we loved our dining experience and hope to be back

Mallory’s has been a lovely space from the day they opened and we’ve never had a bad meal. That being said I would add that it seems that they have found their groove and matured into a really good resistant team. The last several visits have been better than ever. That they are swamped with visitors from across the River makes the friendly service even more impressive.

Usually love coming here but too many staff not wearing masks, including the entire kitchen staff, the hostess and our server. Server said she was new and I believe her.

I love a good steak and want it rare to medium rare. I order the tomahawk steak. It came closer to medium to medium well. The outside very done. Its a thick a steak and you need knowledge to cook it. I complained and asked for it to be re cooked. They refused. My two options where pay half price and they keep the steak or pay full price and eat the over cooked meat. They said " we can not take a loss on this expense of a cut of meat" . They would not budge. When I'm paying $80.00 for a cut of meat it should be cooked the way I ask for it to be. Between drinks and appetizer and two meals ( one not eaten) and tip our bill was $270.00.

Our server was nice and was sorry about the situation. The manager and owner should be ashamed of themselves. This was an error on the cooking and the guest shouldn't be be held responsible.

I have since read many many comments about how situations at this restaurant have been handled. I wish I read them before I tried dining.

I will never again spend my money at Mallory's.

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and exceptional food. Was nice to be out and have space around us and a safe atmosphere to enjoy our delicious dinner. Going back for sure!! Merry Christmas .

Amazing food, grata ambiance, exceptional service. Highly recommend the Duck Wontons and the Blueberry Salad. Can’t wait to go back and check out the rooftop

We were met by the delightful hostess and were seated promptly. Our waitress was fabulous and very educated on the menu and also the wine list! We enjoy our dinner so so much! I’ve been there a dozen times but introduced my family to this wonderful restaurant! We will all he back again and again very soon!!!

Awesome besides getting the table right next to the kitchen. Would still go again though!

I’m writing this with a mixed review. We arrived at Mallorys when we couldn’t get into another local restaurant we’ve been frequenting. The door we thought said masks required but after we sat down at our table we started noticing wait staff with no masks. We realized once seated customers wouldn’t wear masks but were surprised staff didn’t. This freaked my wife out but the other couple with it said they were ok with it so we stayed. Still bothered my wife.

Review part 2. The food and server were excellent. My 3 dinner mates had steak but I had fantastic scallops. The dinner salads were great.

I hate COVID and hope anyone reading this will take their own personal view of this review based on what they deem important, food or health safety. If the door says masks required as my mates say it did then the review should stand as is.

The food was horrible. It was clearly microwaved or just heated back up. I will never go back.

Mallorys is an awesome restaurant! The food is fantastic the ambience is wonderful and the people that work there are amazing! The owner and his staff are true patriots allowing people their freedom and the right to choose what is best for them! If you are looking for a great date night or a family gathering head to Mallorys! I can hardly wait to try the rooftop dining next time I go back!

We enjoyed our experience so much we are going back for a second week in a row and bringing our kids. It’s 35 minutes round-trip for us so this is not the restaurant next door for us.

We enjoyed the restaurant very much.
Only downside is the staff was doing (almost) nothing for Saftey standards- Covid-19 related.

Excellent service with a great wine & beer list. The blueberry salad was very fresh & my hubby’s breakfast burger looked fantastic. Really enjoy this restaurant!

Food was very good, appetizers were a highlight. Entrees were good with basic presentations but flavor was good. Drinks were good as well.

Table was ready upon arrival. Clean and quiet. Not crowded. Lighting good. There was an unhappy customer next to us making quite a fuss about their order, but their problem was sorted out and peace restored.
The good: good wine choices, fewer beer choices. I was cheap and ordered the philli cheese sandwich with tots. Kids (3 kids) ordered lobster tail dinner while the wife went for rib-eye steak. They enjoyed their dinners. Six alcoholic drinks and a few cokes.
The not so good: Bill with tip $300, things are expensive these days so be prepared.
Sissy state Minnesota lost out, we now dine in Hudson WI while Minnesota bars and restaurants stay closed.

The walleye was excellent and the service was as well. Great night out.

Very happy to be seated in back of restaurant at a quiet table however in the group of four two booths away from us there was a woman who was obviously drunk and was very loud & obnoxious. She made our dining experience less enjoyable. I’m all for having fun but she was extremely loud and swearing & nothing was said to them.

The food was really good. Very savvy server. She knew the menu well. We will be back!

The service, food and atmosphere was very good. I was a bit disappointed when my martini glass was 50% full when served. This issue was addressed and my second was 80% full which is the way it should be served. King Crab and Scallops are wonderful!

Steak had no seasoning or flavor. Salad was “old” and could tell stuck in fridge a while. GREAT service!
